Unison Behavioral Health Services - St. Illa Center GA 31503

About Saint Illa Center

Unison Behavioral Health is a dual diagnosis addiction treatment center in Waycross, Georgia. They offer inpatient (IP) and outpatient (OP) treatment services, including detox, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and aftercare to adults.

They’re accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and The National Health Service Corps. Clients who struggle to pay for services at this center may be eligible for sliding scale payments.

This center offers behavioral health services, addiction treatment, and developmental disability care. As such, most of their programs revolve around therapeutic treatment or psychiatric care.

Patients seeking care for substance use disorder can access care through a day program, outpatient care, and a number of inpatient programs. They offer services to clients of all ages and even have gender specific care.

Depending on the needs of a patient, they may be able to get medication assisted treatment at this center. If a patient is struggling with opioid use, MAT is often an excellent first step to recovery. Clients will be given safe alternatives to harmful substances in gradually lesser doses to wean their bodies off of dependence. Once this program is complete, patients can access psychological treatment at this center to finish their recovery journey.

In addition, this center’s psychiatric treatment allows them to treat mental health conditions that may be causing or worsening addictive behaviors. Treating these together can often be far more helpful than just focusing on addiction, and behavioral health clinics specialize in this kind of dual diagnosis treatment.

Clients are almost unanimously happy with their treatment at this center, often calling out individual staff members who cared and helped them through treatment. With access to staff like this, support groups, and psychological and psychiatric care, it’s clear that clients are cared for here. In addition, the number of programs allow for a customizable treatment path that fits more patients and helps those in need. This center is well prepared to help those on their recovery journey.

The staff are very helpful and amazing, the treatment most definitely helped me to combat my substance abuse problem. Big shout-out to Mr Terrance and Mrs Crystal I miss y'all and think about y'all all the time. I had some fun amazing times there and wish I could come come back just to kick it for another 30 days. By the way way the food is super fire and everyone gains so much weight. I came in 225 pounds and left 273 pounds in 30 days.

Accepted Insurance

Saint Illa Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehab enables clients to receive addiction treatment while continuing to work and reside at home. Many programs offer evening, night, and weekend services so that clients may receive treatment on their own schedule. Outpatient treatment modalities typically include addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Many programs also provide step-down care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and standard outpatient services, to align with clients' evolving needs.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehabs feature intensive clinical supervision and a highly structured and supportive environment, meaning they are especially well suited for clients in early recovery and those at risk of relapse. Clients reside at the treatment facility and engage in various therapeutic sessions throughout the day, including addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Many programs also offer evidence-based complementary therapies, such as meditation and massage.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Aftercare, which is sometimes referred to as continuing care or relapse prevention, is a type of structured care meant to help you continue with the progress you've made after completing an addiction treatment program. Most of the time, you'll continue receiving support after a treatment program by partnering with their case managers and staff to identify and access the resources you need to remain sober.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in Georgia is designed to encourage an individual to get the treatment they need. This effort aims to break through resistance and motivate the individual to get help. The process typically involves loved ones sharing their concerns with the individual and how their substance use has affected those who care about them. A professional interventionist can help guide this conversation and explain from the clinical side how treatment can be beneficial.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Georgia reduces the risks involved in detox and addiction treatment. Without access to professional medical care, individuals may experience withdrawal symptoms that become life threatening. For example, alcohol withdrawal can cause delirium tremens, confusion, and cardiac symptoms. Without medical supervision to step in, these symptoms could potentially turn fatal.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

While cognitive behavioral therapy in Georgia is unique for each person, this therapy follows a standard structure that has proven effective. Clients first learn about their substance use disorder, then learn and practice techniques such as coping, stress management, and resilience to change their thought and behavior patterns.

While each person is unique, the typical length for dialectical behavior therapy is six months to a year. You'll attend weekly hour long individual sessions with your therapist, as well as weekly group sessions. Homework between sessions often includes keeping a diary to track your emotions and behaviors. Your therapist uses this diary to guide the focus of each session.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

The skills you learn in couples therapy are designed to help you successfully address relationship challenges as they arise. These skills can include anger management, conflict resolution, communication, and problem solving.

During family therapy sessions in Georgia, members address the emotional toll that addiction has had on them. Therapists help your family develop coping strategies and improve the family unit's communication. This provides a stable environment that supports the recovery process.

Nutrition therapy has short term and long term goals. In the short term, it helps restore your health so you can recover from the physical effects of addiction. Long term, it helps you understand overall health and nutrition to set you up for a healthy lifestyle in recovery.

By incorporating recreational therapy into an addiction treatment program in Georgia, you learn to discover new interests and develop health and healthy coping mechanisms. Activities could include painting, group sports, or yoga. These encourage social interaction and support your physical fitness, which are vital factors in a successful recovery journey.

I was hoping that my childs father might be able to get some help here and the staff seemed to be amazing at first. When he called me after the first couple of days, he started to seem like he was really getting help. He had a very good experience with his therapist. He seemed to have a very good caseworker. Everybody was very understanding. I called a lot to check on him. Nobody was ugly. Of course That was before I met a staff named Shay and Joy, who were very ugly human beings. Everybody was very kind and very understanding Until they came into the picture. I had spoken to his caseworker earlier that day and let them know that I would be needing to speak to my child s father later so I could get the information I needed when DCF called me the next day for my phone interview which I was told that would not be a problem. But I guess that was until shift change. And that s when the lovely Shay and joy came to work .Shay and joy insinuated things that were untrue about my child s father using a telephone multiple times a day to contact other people aside from his family . So in other words, she tried to stir drama in a very bad time of need. Which almost made me not even want to let him come home . But then, in the same breath, she says you re only allowed to use the phone once a day for personal call. Shay and joy are very unprofessional nasty people who in my opinion, have no place in a rehabilitation center. They take their jobs almost like a correctional officer would, which is not what people in the time of distress need . Shay requested sensitive information from me about my DCF login that was none of her business because she insisted, that was the only way I would get the information I needed from my child s father, and that she would write down all of my login and password information for me ,and when I told her I was extremely uncomfortable with it, and that I would possibly not have food for the month for me and my children if I did not finish this phone interview, she said oh well call back tomorrow. To which I responded what happens if they call me from my phone interview before I talk to him . Which I was told oh well again pretty much . so this lady that I don t even know, would have all of my passwords that she really doesn t need to know.On top of all of this going on, I am at home with my two children. I have an artificial heart valve, and I have mental health issues myself and all I needed from Miss Shay, and Miss Joy Let me ask my child s father what my DCF login was, which again they do not need to know. They are playing God so to speak, they have a complex about being in control not just about helping. Again, I am not speaking for the whole staff, but I can t speak for my experience with these two individuals . Every time I had called until I got a hold of these power tripping ladies everybody was very understanding. Therefore, these people really did not care if my children had food or if I had food as long as they were in control and had the last word. So later that afternoon My child s father asked Shay to use the phone again, not knowing me and her had words yet . Which he told me she was short with him and told him that he would not be using the phone anymore tonight . He told me he was actually kind of confused because she seemed to be irritated some. So he waited a few minutes and asked a different staff to use the phone not knowing me shay and joy already had an ugly conversation . But this other staff that he asked, allowed him to make a phone call to me, which I informed him of what was going on. He told me that she was very short with him when he requested to use the phone and now he knows why. And I really don t feel like there s any need or place for this at a facility that s trying to get you on your feet. For them to deny me finishing my Food stamp application because they can ,that s not a good person.

6/8/10 I walked into St Illa. Broken, afraid, and ashamed. I know I wasn t the easiest person to deal with, but the staff treated me with respect. I completed detox and set about putting the pieces of my life back together. It has been a long and winding road, but I started college at age 50 and have been working in the field of addiction treatment for 6 years.Yesterday marked 13 years drug free and the memory of the moment I walked through those doors remains fresh in my mind.If you re reading this with the thought of seeking treatment, do it. Do it now. You can be free. You are worth it. This place literally saved my life.To the staff- I did not understand at the time everything you said and did, or why. But I do now. I m sure none of the same people are there, but I will forever be grateful

To Bonnie Grooms...the staff there is too helpful. You can't blame no one but yourself for your situation because we all have choices. I agree with not recommending subutex because its an addiction itself. Beds are in fact limited, so for you to wanna bash them for something they have no control over is ridiculous. There are other s out there that need help besides you and the facility is small. You got the help you needed before dont try to dim someone elses light because you cant get what you want..

I used to love Saint Illa. I completed there 9 day detox and 30 day inpatient program together for a total of 39 days back in 2006. I only had to pay $100 dollars to get in and later they billed me for $470 dollars and my grandma immediately wrote a check because the staff went above and beyond and it saved my life and made me a better person forever. I was sober for four straight years with no substances and then I took a turn for the worse and maintained until recently. So I thought I will call Saint Illa and they have a new crew which I thought would be great and I expected that, but to go on I called them for two weeks everyday sometimes a few times a day and they would just say they had no beds available and what's my name and birthday sometimes and rush me off the phone and the employees sometimes would transfer me to the director Mr.Jason Unison and he wrote down my information and told me to call back and he said on a Thursday he thought he was having a bed come available on the next day which was Friday and he would call me. Well needless to say he did not call that next day which is Friday but I called him and he said oh he was so busy that he forgot to call me but the girl had a traumatic occurrence and could not be discharged so he said he would not be back until next week Monday since he is the director over Saint Illa but for me to still call over the weekend Incase they had a surprise bed come available. So I called Saturday the girl answered and wanted to just tell me not to call back this weekend anymore she was so discouraging to a person like me in a crisis need. But I still called back Sunday and nothing. Well Monday morning I got I thought to be a nice woman nurse she was the head nurse over Saint Illa detox and she asked me what I needed to come in for a I told her Subutex. And she said to me that she did not recommend me to come in for this Subutex that I'm having such a miserable time beating I needed them desperately and this head nurse said she did not recommend me comeing in all they could do is give me a list of medicine I know nothing about she names all this medicine off that they would give anyone else who came in with this problem but she said to me that Subutex is NO problem and she does not recommend me to come to there detox. So I was so discouraged and hurt and saddened my one place in the world who saved my life and was so wonderful back in June 2006 I have a stamped certificate from my completion. But this head nurse over detox at saint Illa tells me that Subutex is nothing to worry about and she does not recommend me. Well it's awful stuff and I could die coming off of it i do not get it prescribed so I'm sure y'all understand as she did. But I am still alive and still trying all alone but I do not recommend this place because she denying me treatment was signing my death. So pray for me as I will if anyone else has had this problem you are not alone.

Great place and staff! I went into rehab there and it truly helped me. I was very hesitant. I had been putting off going for years. Even up to the day I went, still off doing whatever. But they welcome you in with open arms right off the rip. You can't smoke while your in the program... but somehow I was ok. The food is amazing. Then the koolaid and tea was good and sweet. You can sleep, you can join groups. Whatever you want at whatever pace you want. No pressure which is what I loved most. When I was ready, I could. If not. Ok too. I wish I would had went sooner. And not been so scared about the stereotypes surrounding detox, or rehabs.
