About Thrive Treatment Los Angeles Drug Rehab & Mental Health Treatment

Thrive Treatment, located in Santa Monica, California, provides substance abuse and mental health treatment to men and women. This drug rehab facility offers detoxification, residential treatment, a partial hospitalization program, an intensive outpatient program and regular outpatient treatment. They accept most types of insurance.

Detox starts with an evaluation that assesses your physical and psychological health to create an individualized treatment plan. Therapies and medications are then implemented to prevent any withdrawal effects and help maintain a safe detox. After you complete detox, you are given long term treatment options.

Residential treatment provides a supportive environment with around the clock care and a structured schedule. This type of care has a higher success rate for those just starting their journey as they learn coping skills and how to address stressors and triggers.

Outpatient services vary in their levels of intensity from partial hospitalization to intensive outpatient, to regular outpatient. You’ll attend therapy sessions throughout the week. A majority of these are group sessions where you engage in 12 Step programs. You’ll also engage in individual counseling. The focus of outpatient treatment is to gradually help you return to everyday life.

Aftercare is provided once you complete treatment. These ongoing supports encourage long term succes in recovery.

Hands down WORST treatment center I've ever been to. Individual therapy is decent yet 95% of the group sessions are mediocre with an occasional mentally stimulating group. GUARANTEED if insurance sat in for a day they would discontinue coverage. I've experienced groups where the "facilitator" leaves us watching a movie that has absolutely nothing to do with sobriety or mental health rather than lead a group multiple times. Facilitators seem to try and avoid putting in work by distracting us with games an movies back to back or repetitive groups on a daily basis. Also, the sober livings are beautiful yet I've witnessed the house mangers break confidentiality and outlandishly speak in a verbally abusive manner to clients.

Accepted Insurance

Thrive Treatment Los Angeles Drug Rehab & Mental Health Treatment works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive form of outpatient treatment where clients meet during the day and return home in the evening. PHP treatment doesn't require 24-hour care and often serves as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down after a residential program. With PHP treatment, you can receive daily support for 6 to 8 hours which includes evidence-based therapies and medication management. The cost of PHP treatment typically varies but averages 90 days.
12-step icon12-Step
Participants engaged in 12 step programs receive intensive peer coaching (sponsorship) and community support. Spiritual development as a means of achieving psychological and emotional healing and growth is the cornerstone of 12 step recovery, but religious affiliations are not required. Meetings are free, anonymous, and open to the public, though specialized formats are available, including groups for seniors, teens, and family members. Evening, night, and day meetings are conducted year-round in most communities.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

The goal of creative arts therapy in California is to encourage growth and transformation. It can be used in individual and group settings with both children and adults. Options include movement, music, and painting.

Thrive met my son where he was and worked to find the right mix of supports and interventions to help him create a path toward health and wellness. I am boundlessly grateful to the program and its staff. The behavioral health system needs more programs like Thrive. My husband and I struggled for years to find a therapist who could effectively help our family. It was a long, frustrating, and at times heartbreaking journey. Not only does Thrive offer an array of helpful tools, but it has a staff that cares about the clients, meets them exactly where they are, and tailors treatment to their individual needs.

Response from the owner2 years ago
Lynn, Thank you for sharing your review of Thrive's outpatient treatment center. The boundaries you and your husband set in place are so necessary when it comes to mental health treatment.

Thrive treatment was a huge asset to me in my sobriety. I will be forever grateful for the entire staff at Thrive. The facility is well furnished and in a great location that makes being there very comfortable. On top of that I felt as though the entire staff was very invested in my recovery. There are several different therapists that specialize in different aspects of recovery that really helped me in all areas of my life, especially in learning to live life as a productive and sober individual. I was finally able to grasp what was needed for me to begin to recover and after three years of failing in recovery I never thought it was going to be possible. Not only did I get the knowledge I needed to achieve long term sobriety but they also showed me how to have fun in sobriety. They took us to sporting events, we played basketball, went to museums, batting cages, and the driving range and these are just some of the things that they showed me I could have fun with in sobriety. I personally cannot put into words how big of a role thrive played in my recovery but the best way I can say it is that I now have over one year sober and have achieved a new way of living that I did not know was possible. Thank you Thrive for all the help!!!

Thrive treatment helped me to recover from drug addiction and gave me the skills I needed to rebuild my life. I began treatment at Thrive after 3 years homelessness and daily drug use. The counselors, therapists, medical professionals, and case managers provided the mental, emotional, and practical support I needed to process past trauma in a safe environment. I recommend Thrive to anyone who needs help and requires structure and professional support to recover from addiction or alcoholism. After years of struggling, I have finally discovered freedom.

I completed a full term at Thrive Treatment. I ve been to many IOP programs and have never received the level of care that I got while a client at Thrive. Their treatment team was very extensive, caring, and welcoming. The personal therapist I saw while there helped me through some of the biggest traumas I was holding onto and allowed me to learn things about myself that I would have never found out on myself. Overall this treatment gave me the tools to take on life without substances and with a new level of knowledge and confidence, I would recommend this to anyone trying to rebuild their life, relationships, and put distances between them and a substance! This place works Miracles!

Response from the owner3 months ago
