About Support Systems Homes, Inc.

Support Systems Homes is an addiction treatment center for adults in San Jose, California. They offer a range of services to help you overcome substance use disorder including residential, outpatient, day treatment and detox programs. At their location on North Morrison Avenue, they focus on residential and outpatient care.

You’ll start out in a residential program if you require around the clock care as you begin your recovery journey. You’ll be under consistent supervision to ensure your health, safety and overall wellbeing. You’ll be paired with an experienced counselor once you complete your orientation. They’ll guide you through the process and help you create a treatment plan that meets your goals. During the day you’ll attend therapy sessions and educational groups. You’ll also have a peer buddy who’s been through the steps before and can offer support.

Outpatient rehab is for those who are stepping down from a residential program or simply don’t need as much supervision during treatment. Here, they offer both short term and long term programs to fit your needs. The hours are flexible and you can keep working and living at home while you participate in their services. Some of the outpatient services they offer include counseling, psychoeducation, family groups, relapse prevention courses and discharge planning.

I like that you’ll have access to a lifetime’s worth of free aftercare and alumni resources after you graduate. This keeps you connected to the recovery community and can help keep your sobriety on track.

This is my third rehab experience and I stayed 6 weeks. I was very grateful to be able to get a bed quickly (the very next day). This is not a resort or a vacation, it's a rehab. You won't find a spa or masseuse here, but you will find a safe and supportive environment to work on yourself. The staff was helpful and kind, but of course they are humans too. The main counselor was very helpful and intuitive - she was able to pinpoint what some of my personal issues to focus on were. Overall, I would recommend this facility to anyone who is serious about working on themselves. Other facilities might have more amenities, more people, etc. but I found that having less external distractions helped me get a lot more out of my time here.Update 3 years later: still doing well, and still using the knowledge I gained here.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

This was my 2nd Time entering a recovery center. The intake process was really good with very smooth friendly kind respectful process. Felt comfortable and at ease from beginning to end of the intake process. During the treatment All staff members were Kind and respectful . All staff have been through treatments of their own recovery and were very understanding to my needs. They definitely knew what I was going through. Groups were well managed and informative. Counselors were very knowledgeable and understanding and willing to go out of their way for my needs. During my 28 days day many clients came and gone and I felt safe the entire time. I'm leaving here with a solid foundation tools to keep me sober. With a positive attitude. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs help for recovery. Mike went out if his way to make sure I was well taken care of. Felix amazing5 star chef. I would recommend any that needs help with a addiction to come here. Ps, SSh rocks

Going in, I was completely frightened. It's my first time at a rehab and I didn't know what I was getting myself into. Staff immediately made feel at home and assured me that I was in the right place. Turns out they were right. I can't describe how much I enjoyed staying here and working on recovery. I really needed to sit down and shut up and listen! I highly recommend coming here, even if it's just for detox. We all deserve a chance.

Response from the owner3 years ago
Yes, we do. Thanks for sharing honestly Amber. We're glad we could help you.

It was an amazing experience, I love my counselor Judy, she teaches recovery very well. Also the counseling staff, Donna, Peggy, Coach, Marcy and Scotty made my stay here comfortable. It felt like they cared a lot about me and the whole group here. Jeff is an asset to this company he really cares about the clients individually and takes care of anything that is needed. The only bad thing is Racheal is always in a mood and very unprofessional. The food here is good but sometimes she doesn't know how to talk to people.
