About SPHS Care Center

SPHS Care Center specializes in treating dual diagnosis substance abuse and mental health in Washington, Pennsylvania. This private drug rehab center serves more than 60,000 people yearly at its many locations, including the addiction treatment center in Washington. In addition, SPHS Care Center provides administrative services in the drug and alcohol addiction treatment arena to help other nonprofit organizations.

The SPHS Care Center is considered to be the best at what they do by many on the path to sobriety. However, they don’t offer a full continuum of care and instead choose to put their full efforts into outpatient treatment. Have a look below to learn more about their IOP:

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) offered by the SPHS Care Center is for men and women. This substance abuse addiction treatment program has weekly therapy sessions at least three times a week, each taking an hour. However, individual and group counseling can be personalized to suit the needs of those struggling with drug and alcohol abuse.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Clients engaged in intensive outpatient programs (IOP) live and work in their home community while receiving frequent, high-level care. These programs offer personalized care designed to evolve with the clients' changing needs. Many intensive outpatient rehabs require a minimum of nine hours of treatment per week, but high-risk clients and those in early recovery may receive up to 20 hours of care weekly. IOP services generally include addiction counseling, recovery education, and holistic therapies, such as massage.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

With a partial hospitalization program (PHP), you can participate in intensive rehabilitation treatment with the ability to return home at the end of the day. For a weekly minimum of 20 hours, a partial hospitalization program can take place up to 5 days a week for an average of 90 days. During PHP treatment, you can receive relapse prevention strategies, medication management, individual and group therapy, and other behavioral therapy interventions.

12-step icon12-Step

12 step programs prioritize the recovery journey as a life-long process based on personal spiritual growth and ongoing peer support. Regular attendance at 12 step meetings, which are held multiple times each day in most communities, is expected. Participants also receive one-on-one mentoring by a self-selected peer sponsor. The 12 steps are designed to encourage participants' self-compassion, awareness, acceptance, and accountability. Dedicated programs for specialized groups, including seniors, teens, and families, are common.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing in Pennsylvania gives you the opportunity to share your perspective and explore your ideas and motivation for change. Your therapist will walk you through the four steps of engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning to empower you to make any desired changes in your life.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

They are a joke. Been calling for 3 months, over 20 messages and not one call back, not one time have they answered the phone in 3 months. They are a joke and clearly just there for a pay check!

We had an excellent therapist until he left. I requested a Case Manager for over a year for my son to no avail. The system failed my family. Now it is too late

I go here for mental health services. I go weekly for a therapy session and every so many months for my medications. I'm consistent in coming, I work really hard on my own mental health to become the best version of myself.I've been very blessed with the therapists that I've seen here. The people I've been with genuinely care about their clients and want to make an impact. Here's the problem, there's high turnover. As someone that deals with PTSD and anxiety, you start to build a rapport with your therapist and build trust with them, you're telling them about the most intimate parts of your life, only to find out they are going into private practice a few months later and have to regurgitate all of this information over again to someone elseYou're in an industry where you're supposed to help people feel better, heal, and make a positive change. When this constant change of therapists keeps happening, it doesn't help you build trust again, it makes it worse. If you genuinely care about the people who are impacted by the constant change of therapists, you'll find a way to keep them there. Change needs to happen, it's not fair for people who not only want to help us clients, but the clients whom are getting served. This isn't just an SPHS issue, it's community clinics in general and something needs to change. I've been through now three therapists over the course of the past year, and the constant changeover is making me not want to go back, but because of insurance, it's one of the very few options I currently have.Everyone I've worked with directly has been very kind and helpful and has helped me heal tremendously, even the front desk staff is super kind...but the high turnover rate is making me not want to go anymore.

They keep you in treatment long. They are concerned about your well being. There are good counselors there. The place is being renovated and it is a improvement.
