About Spectrum Health Systems, Inc.

Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. is a drug and alcohol rehab facility located in Weymouth, Massachusetts. They treat adults for substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder. They treat people who have co-occurring disorders as well. They offer medically assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are detoxifying from drugs.

You will have an assessment when you enter this facility to see if you qualify for medically assisted treatment. The trained medical staff will ask you questions about substance use. They will also give you a toxicology test.

The staff can prescribe and administer medications to assist you with detoxing. They are a licensed methadone clinic. They can provide buprenorphine as well.

Methadone is a synthetic opioid that has been used to treat opioid addiction since the 1960s. It is considered a full agonist meaning it can fully simulate the way more dangerous opioids affect receptors in the brain. Methadone can only be administered in a licensed clinic and is given on a daily basis. It reduces the craving for drugs and some of the withdrawal symptoms.

Buprenorphine is a partial opioid agonist. It reduces withdrawal symptoms from opioids. It has a ceiling effect meaning the effects will level out at a certain point. This makes Buprenorphine much less likely to be abused. It also means that overdoses are less likely to be fatal.

They also provide group and individual therapy to their clients. The treatment method they use will be customed to your needs.

Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient Rehab

Inpatient rehab offers robust, hands-on care in a highly structured and supportive environment. The facility provides housing, meals, and round-the-clock supervision, allowing clients to focus exclusively on their recovery. Inpatient treatment typically involves intensive addiction counseling based on CBT, DBT, RBT, motivational interviewing, or other psychotherapeutic approaches. Many inpatient treatment centers also offer life skills training and/or complementary therapies, including meditation, mindfulness, and nutrition counseling.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) facilitate clients' sustained sobriety through high-level care aligned with their evolving needs. Clients engage in multiple treatment sessions per week, typically receiving between nine and 20 hours of outpatient care weekly. The frequency and intensity of treatment gradually decreases as clients stabilize. Many intensive outpatient rehabs offer a variety of services, including addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT). Evidence-based complementary therapies are also common.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs offer customized, wraparound support for clients in the maintenance phase of recovery. Many clients enroll in drug rehab immediately after completing intensive inpatient or residential care. Services encompass outpatient treatment but often extend long beyond the completion of a formal recovery program and typically include a variety of medical, mental health, and social service programs. Peer coaching, relapse prevention, 12 step program induction, and related services are commonly available.

12-step icon12-Step

Recovery models based on 12 step programs feature extensive peer coaching and emphasize personal growth as a key to sustained sobriety. Regular attendance at 12 step meetings, which are anonymous, free, and available daily, is expected. The 12 steps of recovery are based on spiritual principles and support participants in addressing the root causes of their disease, accept responsibility for their choices, and accept that which is beyond their control. Self-selected sponsors provide one-one-mentoring.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

A drug intervention in Massachusetts provides friends and family the opportunity to share how a person's substance use has caused problems in their lives. The goal of the intervention is to encourage the person to get the treatment they need. Most rehab facilities offer intervention services that can help families prepare for the intervention and facilitate entry into treatment if the person agrees to get help.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

Due to various health issues that substance abuse causes, 24-hour clinical care in Massachusetts is often a necessary part of treatment. Individuals may be suffering from infections, illness, or organ damage. Having 24-hour care available ensures that these physical problems are treated along with the psychological effects of addiction. Once individuals complete detox and are medically stable, this intensive level of supervision ends, and the next phase of treatment can begin.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Addiction is a highly complex problem, and drug rehab in Massachusetts is often necessary to address it. These programs treat physical, mental, and relational issues that are involved. Treatment empowers individuals to manage these issues without the use of drugs.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

During cognitive behavioral therapy in Massachusetts, clients work with a trained counselor to identify negative thinking patterns and change them. This change in thinking has been shown to lead to changes in behavior to treat substance use and mental health disorders effectively.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

If you are experiencing intense, negative emotions, dialectical behavior therapy can help you learn how to regulate painful emotions and manage the interpersonal situations that generate them. This method is often used during substance use treatment in Massachusetts to help you develop better coping skills and avoid relapse.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is a safe space for participants to share their stories and experiences within a confidential and judgment free environment. You have the opportunity to openly discuss your difficulties and create a network of community support that can extend long after group therapy sessions end.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

Therapists in Massachusetts offer individual therapy in a confidential setting to help you explore the complex factors that have contributed to your drug addiction. Using a tailored approach, your therapist supports you and utilizes evidence based treatment modalities to help you develop healthier thought patterns and behaviors. This builds a foundation for enduring sobriety.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Four principles are key to motivational interviewing in Massachusetts. First, the therapist offers empathy for the client's feelings and experiences. Second, they encourage the client to believe in themselves and their ability to change. Third, the therapist refrains from imposing their own viewpoints. Lastly, the therapist helps the client identify discrepancies in their circumstances and future goals.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Couples therapy in Massachusetts is a short term therapy designed to equip you both with the skills you need to address conflicts and challenges in your relationship. During sessions, your counselor may meet with you individually and together.

family iconFamily Therapy

During family therapy, the therapist works with every member of the family unit to understand the role they play in their loved one's addiction. By addressing these patterns, family members learn healthier ways to interact with each other and contribute to a more effective recovery journey for the family member who is addicted.

Such potential but this place Comess up with dumbest ideas. Just this morning I sat in line for 15 minutes thinking it was my turn. Oh no I get to window but they weren't doing take homes so I had to wait for the other window. As I waited another 15 minutes and watched 10 people behind me now pass me can be kind of frustrating esp when you have to get to work.....to feel punished for doing well. Someone is trying too hard and it's destroying what was once a solid place and turning it into Topeka... If you know you knowEdit since I can't reply.First thing tried..... Butwas denied

This clinic saved my life! I've been clean for almost 18 months now. From the nurses to the clinicians this place is the best of the best. But above all of that the director Kristen was my clinician for over a year and a big part of why I am doing so well today. They could not have chosen a better person to fill that job

Spectrum in weymouth MA is amazing. The clinical team there is second to none l. My quality of life has improved greatly after getting connected with this clinic. I couldn't imagine my life if I didn't have Alex, Derek, Gabby, and Kristin in my corner. The way that I have been built up to the person I want to be today not only makes me happy but also makes my family and the people around me happy. I am forever grateful to the team at spectrum out patient and am happy that their is a place like this for others to go and feel welcomed at the hardest part of recovery.

The Staff are atrocious! Absolutely terrible! Always changing policies and treating people like sub humans. It's not right. Including the new director Kristen. She needs a new job! I'm more than 3 years sober and yesterday I brought all my takehome bottles in 2 days early because 2 or more bottles had opened up and spilled all inside my bag for the nurse who originally prepared my takehomes didn't properly fasten all the caps to each bottle. I was denied service, rudely dismissed and accused of foul play then told to leave the property. I left feeling hopeless and in tears. I spent the afternoon at the hospital which thankfully dosed me yesterday. Today... I'm scared for my own wellbeing and the possibilty of relapsing because I have no dose to take. Ill be speaking to my attorney!

I e been at the Weymouth clinic for 4 yrs now and I was on a CSAC in Jamaica Plain prior and I'll tell you they 100% better than that clinic.. the counselors do care I have met a lot of genuine people on this clinic..It's a smaller clinic.. sometimes things can get inconsistent but compared to all the clinics in Boston it's the best you will find..My sobriety really began here..They have really helped me in so many ways..We have a newer director now and that has helped alot as the director we had prior (Liz) was the only big issue w this clinic
