Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients receiving services from a rehab aftercare program are usually stable and in the maintenance phase of recovery, having completed detox and/or intensive inpatient treatment. Rehab aftercare services can vary widely based on clients' individual and evolving needs, but often include peer coaching, relapse prevention support, 12 step program induction, and medical, mental health, and social service referrals. Individual care plans are typically developed by the client in partnership with their case manager and care team.
12-step icon12-Step
12 step programs prioritize the recovery journey as a life-long process based on personal spiritual growth and ongoing peer support. Regular attendance at 12 step meetings, which are held multiple times each day in most communities, is expected. Participants also receive one-on-one mentoring by a self-selected peer sponsor. The 12 steps are designed to encourage participants' self-compassion, awareness, acceptance, and accountability. Dedicated programs for specialized groups, including seniors, teens, and families, are common.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Pennsylvania is devoted to the treatment of addiction. Levels of care, treatment methods, and settings differ, but the aim of each program is to end drug dependency and empower participants to achieve long-term recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

There are only 1 or 2 people who actually care enough to help everyone. I was admitted to sojourner house on March 5th 2024 I left after 60 days of being stolen from and lied to by the staff. I had nearly $800 in cash go missing upon my intake date. They took my lottery cards and Vapes totalling at nearly $300; I was told everything was going to be given back up on my discharge and that was a complete and total lie. What wasn't rooted through by any staff there, was either broken or stolen I'm dedicated to exposing this to anyone I come across and I have a vast network. I've been told to" let it go" and "it's gone"What kind of place steals from the most vulnerable population?Through hard work I've remained sober but I refuse to credit this place for that.

Sojourner House offers a unique healing expe for women in addition in that it United and often reunified women in recovery with their child or children and their families. There aren't many organizations that permit women to live with their children in their own apartments while participating in individual, group, and family therapy. There are three levels of care offered for women and children in need to regain lost independence in secure environments. Hopefully more similar-based programs will be established both at the state and national level so that women do not need to be separated from their children while recovering, as is often the case. Allowing a family to recovery together is a unique and needed experience as.addixiron continues to plague our nation. As is with everything, it is what one makes of a situation that will shape their perception.yet I encourage women in need to seek information about Sojourner that are in need. One phone call.and or one inquiry can be life-changing.

It was 2000, I was pregnant and had 3 other children from my estranged marriage. They accepted me into the program at Sojourner House, and showed how to live. A warm loving strict program. My life was changed. I am clean and sober, blessed and forgiven. Thank you, Susan Jageman

This place i thought was going to be a place to rebuild with my children the councilors there are not fit for the position i was degraded on many occasions and my treatment was not treatment every session was based off a what a community member had to say they thrive off a broken community i thought in recovery it was sisters building sisters up they use the peers against eachother inorder to break us apart a tare eachother down its really very sad that place is nothing like i was told but then again i its ran by a whole new team also staff sneaking around with clients doing clients favors as long as they dont tell what happen to a honest program then they want to forcefully make admit to behavior u didi not do and to me thats not acceptable oh might i add they have their certain ones they just single out n wont let up till u are gone whether it by choice or not id highly rethink this place n if u decide to go you will regret it unless you become one of their puppets till you leave i on the other hand chose a different route and that was to stand up for the truth what i believe i don't bow down that easy

May 13th 2011 I went in to start my recovery w my son damion. We didnt have to pay rent insurance covered it, but when there was a blip in my insurance they were ready to send me to this crazy place where they didnt even have air conditioning w my 1 year old son. I was court ordered 90 days I was being pressured to stay the 6 months. I still left at my 90 day mark. They tried telling me I'd be arrested . While I was in there a few things happened w my son he got ahold of a paperclip and choked although he was fine thanks to a prepared staff member I was still looked at as a unfit parent. Even my cys case worker was aware that accidents happened. But the staff still tried to tell my cys caseworker that I was a unfit parent. My son got merca while I was there. Probably from the daycare center there. But again the whole building was made aware that it was my fault. The only person I had any respect for was miss becky. She kept it real and understood where our heads were at when we couldnt get it together. Even took the time to walk me around outside late one night when I was having a panic attack. I've been sober ever since regardless of what the staff said to me before I left. I'm now 30 married a proud owner of a house and have custody of my kids back and damion is now 9 years old. He had turned one just a week after I went to this rehab. I'm giving it 5 stars bc of miss becky miss Karen A miss KAREN G and miss Dolores. If it wasnt for them I dunno what I would have done w myself.
