About Silver Lake Behavioral Health

Silver Lake Behavioral Health is an alcohol and drug rehab center for adults in Staten Island, New York. They offer holistic addiction treatment in an outpatient setting, so you can get the help you need while still living at home. There’s no appointment necessary and you can walk in at any time for a free consultation.

Something that stands out to me about this center is their collaborative approach to recovery. They don’t want you to simply follow along with your addiction treatment plan. They want you to take an active role in creating your plan because you’re the one who understands your unique challenges, goals, and skills best. Some of the services you can choose from include individual, group, and family counseling sessions, psychiatric services, and case management. There’s also a medication assisted treatment program that can help you recover more comfortably with the use of addiction medications.

Here, your counselors are ready to talk with you about any part of your life that’s been affected by your addiction. For example, you may want to share about the toll it’s taken on your physical, emotional, and social health. Or, you might discuss how it’s changed your housing, education, or employment status. They understand that recovery is very personal and they want to meet you where you are.

Former clients say the providers here are down to earth and sincerely there to help. They also note how comfortable the team makes them feel.

The amount of money I had to pay to fix the mistake that happened here was nothing compared to the anxiety and terror I experienced. The therapist here are very good, unfortunately the one person in charge of all patients medications has no respect or dignity for the people he was placed in authority over. I don t know how such a situation came to be- but I went here for 5 years and the nurse practitioner, Sledge couldn t place my face and name. I went through a pregnancy, weened complete off my medication, and after I gave birth was put back on the dose I STARTED WOTH. No tox screen, no question. It was obvious he had no idea who I was even after all this time and a pregnancy, but it wasn t until I lost or someone took 8 of the medication I take. When I spoke to Sledge, I told him I never in 5 years had an issue with medication before. And he told me, that s no my problem. Go to the emergency room. And hung up on me. I called my therapist there, and she truly tried to rectify the issue, until Sledge suddenly picked up the phone and said, I don t care who talks to me. I m not putting in anything for you. Then I realized that I m not a patient or a person to this man; we re all criminals and he doesn t have any respect and even dignity for any of the people that he prescribed medication too. I don t know how many incidents happened involving this man, but I can tell you that I paid $99 for a same day script on QuickMed to bridge me over until I found an appropriate provider. The dr that wrote that script was unable to understand why I went to the same place for 5 years and they refused to help me. This dr didn t know me from Adam and bridged the gap that the 8 missing medication caused. If you re taking a medication that is the difference between life or death, do yourself a favor and find somewhere else. If the new Dr didn t help me, I would of had to go to the ER with my 1 yr old.

I am a former Marine, transitioning from a military life to civilian life was not easy by any means. Neither was my struggle with addiction which I battled over a decade and the fight does not end. Silver Lake has not only fought by my side, but was the safe haven, support, and help I desperately needed. Some of these counselors are very special people and every single one of them are not just professional but make it so comfortable to talk as if you are talking to a good friend. I don t know where I would be today if not for Silver Lake. Anthony Perrone the program supervisor is truly an amazing person, NP Sledge is also and I have met a lot of people on my path. I m am still in the fight thanks to him and the staff at Silver Lake. Not just with substance abuse but general therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, anger management program, couples therapy which I am about to undergo excited to do so, and most importantly just the day to day support of the counselors. The day to day support and genuine care that this facility provides is hard to come by. My counselor is always adamant about the fact that he is always available to reach out to, and has proven that time and time again. I am beyond grateful for this place and people. I have the choice of going to the VA as a disabled veteran and Silver Lake, I personally choose Silver Lake any day.

Accepted Insurance

Silver Lake Behavioral Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients in rehab aftercare programs receive a customized portfolio of services designed to promote their sustained sobriety. These clients have completed high-level treatment, are typically exiting detox and/or intensive inpatient care and are reintegrating into their home, workplace, and community. Rehab aftercare services address addiction disease as a chronic condition requiring continuing care. Clients typically work with case managers and recovery teams to access necessary resources, such as peer coaching and 12 step program induction support.
12-step icon12-Step
Participants in 12 step programs maintain access to community-based peer support, which is the programs' primary treatment modality. 12 step recovery combines personal growth with paper coaching. Participants regularly attend group meetings, which are free, anonymous, open to the public, and available multiple times per day in most communities. They are also mentored by self-selected sponsors who guide them through the steps of recovery. Age and gender specific and other specialized formats are common.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in New York occurs when family members and friends lovingly confront someone with a substance use disorder. The goal of this confrontation is to motivate the person to seek treatment. Loved ones point out how the person's destructive behavior is affecting them in hopes that they will agree to get help. Most inpatient rehab facilities offer intervention services that can help families walk through this process step by step.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in New York is a short term therapeutic method used to treat substance use and mental health disorders. CBT typically lasts from five to 20 sessions, based on the individual's needs.

During dialectical behavior therapy in New York, you and your therapist will look for triggers and patterns that are guiding your emotions. This involves keeping a diary of your emotions and situations and sharing this each week with the therapist. This information will determine what you work on in each session.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Men and women in New York undergoing one on one individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction treatment will address the unique psychological and emotional aspects that are often associated with addiction triggers. Your therapist helps you build a relapse prevention plan and set achievable goals to improve your mental health and achieve long term sobriety.

Introduced in 1983, motivational interviewing is a method to help clients commit to change. It's based on the philosophy that change is hard, and clients must explore their own options and come to their own conclusions rather than receive warnings or advice from the therapist.

Trauma therapy involves working through the psychological and emotional impact of a traumatic event. You learn to identify the triggers and develop coping mechanisms that build a sense of safety and trust in yourself.

You can participate in couples therapy to focus on a specific problem in your relationship or for general strengthening of the relationship. This therapy aims to help you improve communication, address conflict, and grow in affection for one another.

Family therapy helps individual members of the family unit navigate the complexities of addiction. Therapists provide you with the tools you need to improve communication skills and conflict resolution. When families work together, they can support their loved one's recovery and help to restore balance and harmony within the household.

The philosophy behind experiential therapy is that your behavior is guided by your perception. This therapy allows you to express yourself creatively, which reveals how you perceive events. Your therapist will guide you through the exploration of your emotions to release negative ones and experience positive ones.
