About Signature Psychiatric Hospital

Signature Psychiatric Hospital is an alcohol and drug abuse treatment center in North Kansas City, Missouri. Care takes place in a clinic setting on campus, giving adult men and women access to premiere care from medical professionals. They provide modern amenities in a secluded location.

Signature Psychiatric Hospital provides a full spectrum of care, treating a range of substance abuse and mental disorders. They specialize in treating heroin, benzo, opioid, and prescription drug addiction.

Clients accepted into Signature Psychiatric Hospital often start with the inpatient detoxification program. Clients reside on campus under close moderation as trained medical staff help them cope with the difficulties of withdrawal symptoms. Once a client is stable, they can transition into another level of care based on their needs.

Clients in this program will reside on campus for the length of treatment, which is usually 28 days but can vary based on needs, progress, and other factors. They’ll receive medication management services and therapy from licensed professionals every day, individually and in groups, focusing on coping skills, triggers, and relapse prevention. All clients are under close supervision during their stay to ensure safety.

PHP is ideal for those with intense symptoms but who do not require the constant monitoring that comes with the residential program. Clients attend therapy and treatment for several hours daily, Monday through Friday, for three or more weeks. Those in the PHP program can engage in the same types of treatment the residential program offers.

IOP offers a flexible treatment plan and schedule for clients struggling with addiction but in stable living situations. They visit the facility for three hours a day, three days a week, with meetings scheduled around work, school, and other responsibilities. IOP lasts around six weeks.

Careful medication administration can significantly increase successful recovery rates in those addicted to opioids. The medical team will determine which medications will best help you resist relapse while receiving therapy and recovering. MAT is available at all levels of care.

Was given an incorrect diagnosis and medicine. I told them multiple times I had OCD and was on medication for it, they refused to give me the medication I was already prescribed. I was labeled as paranoid schizophrenic because I was having a PTSD episode from a stalking situation that wasn t taken seriously. They took my items out of my bag and didn t return everything. I m still missing a notebook. My iPad was missing from my bag and I had to request for it to be found. My phone had messages received on dates it shouldn t have been, because it should have been turned off the entire time. While I was in this hospitals care I watched people with actual needs, ignored. Theyre more concerned with prescribing the incorrect medicine and doses to keep patients and maximize data/profit than helping lost souls. Go the other way.

Accepted Insurance

Signature Psychiatric Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Per session payment lets you pay for each treatment at the time of service. You may also pay for a certain number of sessions up front and then pay for more if needed. This format allows you to tailor the financial investment to your specific needs and avoid having a large lump sum payment due at the end of the treatment program.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
IOP is acute psychiatric treatment for patients with less severe symptoms or those who are stepping down from in-patient stabilization. Patients participate in three group therapy sessions per visit. Patients typically attend program three days per week. Their Intensive Outpatient Program meets for three hours a day, three days a week.
aftercare iconAftercare
12-step icon12-Step
12 step programs are designed to enable participants to understand and address the root causes of their addiction, accept responsibility for their life choices, and relinquish control over that which they cannot change. Participants are expected to regularly attend 12 step meetings and to be mentored in their recovery journey by a self-selected sponsor. Meetings are free, anonymous, and open to the public. A variety of formats are available, including programs for seniors, teens, family members, and nondenominational Christians.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Designed for individuals who don't require 24/7 monitoring, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides intensive-level treatment while allowing you to stay at home. PHP treatment typically requires a commitment of at least 20 hours of treatment per week for an average duration of 90 days. Services commonly offered in PHP include medication management and evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Insurance coverage for PHP treatment may vary depending on your provider.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Due to the potential for severe withdrawal symptoms, it is important to detox in a facility with 24-hour clinical care in Missouri. Most people experience some form of withdrawal symptoms, and this setting offers medical professionals who are on site 24/7 to provide any necessary treatment. This supervision makes the detox process safer and less painful and improves the likelihood of a successful recovery.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Missouri usually involves several phases: detox, rehab, and aftercare. The rehab phase may include a combination of inpatient and outpatient treatments, as the individual moves through a continuum of care on their recovery journey.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

I recently got treatment there because I needed mental health care. At administration I gave them all my information. They lost all of that information when I got to the unit. I didn t leave there with all my clothes. They lost half my clothes and underwear. It took two days to have them switch me a new room mate that scared me. Who called me an entity and other racial remarks. Please if you need treatment. I urge you to go somewhere else. It more like a mental prison. They make you were monitors and the whole place seems to care about baseline level of care and treatment.

Absolutely horrible facility. My niece is currently locked up in Signature in the Liberty location I cannot get through to anyone on the phone. She has a severe mental disability and I have been caring for her for five years. I have no idea if she is getting properly treated or for that matter if she is alive and okay. I went to the facility in person and the receptionist\nurse said write down your number and someone if call back if they want to. Seeking legal guidance to ensure my niece is not lost in the system.

My gf is currently being illegally detained. She is not on a 96hr hold and she said she wanted to ADA and they told her no. She is past the 96hr mark and the state statue says must be released "before" the 96hr mark. I will be retaining an attorney.

I currently have a loved one in this service and my loved one has ptsd as one diagnosis, a tech grabbed her face this is NOT trauma informed care, also there was a med error made. My loved one told me about this. When staff grabbed her face I was on the phone with her. It is virtually impossible to get through on the phone, messages when I ve actually gotten through to the nurses desk are not passed forward. We have multiple people calling at different times of the day and can not get through. I started sending emails and my email has now been blocked. Community is apart of recovery for folks with mental health challenges. This place is like a prison and the staff does not practice Person first care. We left hygiene items and they were no where to be found when my loved one asked for them at shower time. A man came in for service and was allowed by staff to call my loved one foul names, they did nothing to de escalate the situation. It seems as tho my advocacy for my loved one is unwelcome and I am not able to reach her. It seems as tho they like to use well we can t make her call you back, as a way to discourage contact. Then do not pass in the message that I have called. After reading reviews others have had the same experience. Maybe a class A lawsuit would motivate you all to get this straightened up. There is no type of transparency and these people in this place working for you are more concerned with covering up the mistakes and treating patients in humanely because they need care. The staff told my loved one because of hippa she couldn t discuss this stuff, uh hippa is for insurance and THE STAFF IS BOUND BY IT NOT THE PATIENT TRYING TO DESCRIBE WHAT THEY ARE EXPERIENCING AND WITNESSING. I want to be able to contact my loved one! I am applaud and service like this is what causes people to not seek help when they need it. Horrible experience and I do not know if my loved one is ok.

I was going to check in today for alcohol detox, but right off they don't have bags to put your stuff in like your keys or cigarettes or whatever that you bring with you ?The lady behind the counter was nonchalant and just said "oh we just put it back here under the counter" ?(How do they remember what belongs to what person ?).I have never seen a hospital treat your property like it's trash - I thought it was very strange because most hospitals have a bag and they put your name on it and put your stuff in it and you get it back when you leave, but this place acted like it was no big deal or we just throw it under the counter ?So that turned me off, right off and I left !I would not recommend this place !!

They left severe bruising from an unnecessary injection. Seven patients were discharged on the same day as me due to legal concerns. My injuries have been documented even though they refused to do do so at the actual facility. I presented them with multiple opportunities to document my injuries for their own records which they refused. Signature will not be allowed to operate illegally and without compassion for patients well being or basic human rights in this current capacity for much longer. A class action lawsuit would be a more appropriate course of action then my own personal financial gain, however Signature has no proverbial legal leg on which to stand in my situation. Nursing home abuse attorney your best bet! Most of the nurses work for a staffing agency and it's painfully obvious. Will update when and if Signature responds as they were just contacted today, June 21 2024. Resent my response and expect a freshly updated automated reply asking me to once again do the same thing. Prove me wrong., --UPDATE- THEY RESPONDED BY CLAIMING TO NOT BE ABLE TO LOCATE MY PATIENT RECORDS OTHER THAN THROUGH THE BILLING DEPARTMENT. THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED SINCE June 21.
