Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

After completing some form of inpatient care, many clients transition or step down to an outpatient rehab, while some choose to transition from detox directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education, and some also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).

inpatient iconInpatient Rehab

Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs offer high-level care for clients as an increased risk of relapse, including those in early recovery, those with a strong history of relapse, and those experiencing a crisis. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in nine to 20 hours of care weekly, with treatment modalities that combine psychotherapy and recovery education, and holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and animal therapy. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is also common in alcohol and/or opioid recovery.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers intensive addiction treatment while allowing you to return home each day. It can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option. Depending on your needs, PHP treatment typically averages 90 days with a weekly requirement of 6-8 hours a day. PHP treatment offers a variety of therapeutic interventions such as individual counseling, group therapy, and psychoeducation. Oftentimes PHP treatment can be fully covered by insurance.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Texas is to change thought patterns, which leads to changes in behavior. Specific techniques during CBT can include self talk, SMART goals, journaling, and positive activities.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Treatment that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach focuses on four strategies. Distress tolerance will help you accept and tolerate intense emotions. Emotional regulation will teach you to manage those emotions. Mindfulness will keep you in the present moment instead of regret or worry. Interpersonal effectiveness will teach you to manage your relationships.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Together with an experienced trauma therapist, you work on healing emotional wounds from traumatic experiences within a trauma therapy environment. Your therapist will help you process the experience of the trauma, which promotes emotional healing and improves your overall mental health.

family iconFamily Therapy

The purpose of family therapy is to create a supportive and understanding family dynamic within the family unit. Therapists help individual members to identify and change harmful behavior patterns and improve communication. This provides a stable foundation for the family and their loved one's recovery.

Terrible. Never ever go there! Look up federal citations of the place. I agree they do not let you take part in your treatment. There is no safe environment there!

I was inpatient. One of the staff mocked a child with anger issues while another would scream at us if we wanted to look through the menu on what to eat. Very little to do, making it really miserable overall. The doctors and nurses I had were patient and kind, and it could have been worse, but this was still a very bad experience and it's shameful how some of the staff treated the patients.

As inpatient, the doctors were impatient. They did not actually talk to you or listen. When given a diagnosis, I asked why they thought that and they responded "we don't have time to explain". Because of this, not only did it prolong my healing, but it also fostered a deep distrust of them and mental hospitals. (This was Dr. Wagner and a resident)For outpatient, I think it was a high price for something that was a group setting with probably not even 15 minutes of personal check in.

Let me tell you something this place doesn't deserve any stars! One of these days and I have told this to people I'm going to win the lottery I'm going to buy this place and then I'm going to get a crane and bulldoze it. I'm going to invite the whole city to watch.

Was there in the inpatient hospitalization as well as the DBT outpatient program. Horrible experience. The inpatient was awful, I had to unclog my own drain, I'm transgender and a staff member asked what my deadname was, they lied to me about when I would be allowed to leave, and forgot about me numerous times forgetting to give me my medication. The outpatient program was just as bad. The therapist told us depression is a choice and it is our choice to be anxious and/or happy and that a therapists job is to invalidate your emotions. I am chronically ill and experience chronic pain due Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, scoliosis, and dysautonomia. I expressed being upset that I would not be able to get my top surgery the date I planned due to these reasons, only for the therapist to tell me all I need to do is love myself more (which is hard to do when you have a chronic illness, your body doesn't match what it needs to, etc.). Absolutely horrible. Find a different inpatient facility and for sure a different outpatient place.

My wife gave birth to our first son here 6 months ago. I would not recommend having a child here honestly. The doctors were great, the nurses were fantastic, and the facilities were fine. However the billing and communication are beyond poor. My wife spends several hours a week on the phone with their billing department and insurance. At one point my wife had them verify the insurance they had for my (at the time) 4 month old son and it was under a 41 year old woman. My wife has asked repeatedly for itemized invoices and was told she would receive them, still not here. They ve even threatened to send us to collections even though they have the wrong insurance for our son and won t send us itemized receipts. You would think this is the first time they ve ever had a child born here. There was nothing out of the ordinary about our sons birth either, besides it happening during Covid. I am in absolute shock if other people are being harassed and threatened like we are. (My wife and I both have health insurance by the way). Lastly, the communication part. After the birth they had the lactation folks come to our room and help or answer questions. Before we were released from the hospital my wife wanted to ask the lactation consultants a couple questions before we left. She asked them two questions and then they left, they were in the room less than 5 minutes. We found out a week later, which nobody ever told us, that those visits from the lactation folks were not part of the hospital team. They are separate and billed us $200 every time they came in the room. Not once did anyone mention that they are a separate entity and would bill us separately. I guess I need to put a chair outside my wife s door and ask everyone before they enter how much they are going to charge or if it s included? That s called predatory billing folks. I have no idea how that s even allowed, that seems illegal honestly. In the end, we have a healthy baby boy and my wife is doing fine so it s hard to complain, but at what price? We will reach out to other hospitals and hopefully they don t allow predatory billing and harass mothers who already have enough to deal with.
