All these comments saying, "they shouldn't have to cater to your loved ones needs"! In detox?...probably one of the darkest times of these peoples lives they want to play tough love? Nah. I'm not down with it because they are certainly CHARGING like they're a 5 star hotel and are "catering" to the patients. And by catering I mean treating them like they have been admitted into a hospital and need cared medical attention. Don't go here. Terrible reviews. And terrible excuses for the staff's behavior.

Location

Accepted Insurance

Serenity Recovery Centers works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Serenity Recovery Centers offers Residential Treatment Services that consist of 24 hour-a-day services, Individual Therapy, Group Therapy, Education, and supportive services.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). Serenity’s Intensive Outpatient Services are gender specific and consist of three hours of treatment services per day, four days per week.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients receiving support in a rehab aftercare program typically have abstained from drugs or alcohol for a period of weeks or months and have completed high-level (often inpatient) treatment. Drug rehab aftercare is designed to support clients in maintaining their sobriety as they re-engage with their ordinary lives at home, in the workplace, and in the community. Services are highly individualized and evolve with clients' changing needs, but generally include peer coaching and relapse prevention.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive outpatient option for those with moderate to severe addictions, allowing you to return home at the end of the day. It can be an alternative to hospitalization or used as a step-down option. PHP treatment requires a minimum of 20 hours of treatment per week for an average of 90 days. Depending on your needs, PHP treatment includes relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services. PHP treatment is often covered by providers.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When your day-to-day life is taken over by drug use, this is known as substance use disorder. If you abruptly stop using your drug of choice, you experience withdrawal symptoms. To overcome this cycle, professional drug rehab in Tennessee is usually needed.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Counseling in Tennessee that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach can last from six to 12 months. During that time, you'll develop skills in the areas of distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

While engaged in couples therapy in Tennessee, you'll learn how to trust, communicate, forgive, and manage emotions. Developing these skills can be beneficial at any time during the relationship, but they are particularly crucial when facing life challenges.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

You cannot participate in NA meetings and they will not provide you with a copy of the NA book, only AA meetings and the AA book. Please be aware this is a covert faith-based service.

Please Read: I do not recommend anyone to choose Serenity! Please consider all of your options as Serenity only gives you busy work to do, instead of truly working on underlying issues. My experience with them was not only a nightmare, but SEVERAL clients that go there have left due to the staffs disrespectful attitude, & the way that they treat you. You go all day without being able to do simple things, such as have a cup of water. The only time you get a cup to drink out of is during meals. Otherwise, you have to drink out of a water fountain and with the pandemic.. it s highly unsafe. They say practice social distancing when the clients are outside smoking so that they can t get together and talk about how they are treated. Yet, when it s time for group they pack you in one group room like sardines. I had to go to the hospital during my stay, the hospital called them to let them know I was being discharged, yet it took 3 1/2 hours standing outside in the heat for Serenity to pick me up. The staff claimed they weren t contacted, when a staff member had violated the HIPPA laws and reported to other clients that the hospital called and I was being discharged. They have literally dropped off clients at the hospital, and knew that they weren t staffed enough to pick those said clients up, and those clients literally had to walk from the hospital back to rehab. I know a treatment center is obviously not supposed to be a cake walk, however they are very mean to clients. They will drop medication on the floor, yet still expect you to take the medication that was on the floor! The counselors do not spend time with you like they should, and instead give you busy work, to keep you out of their hair. They knew that I reported to my husband on my nightly calls the things they were doing, so they started listening in on my phone calls to make sure that I wouldn t disclose certain information to my husband. They in fact told me not to tell him certain things or I would end up on a behavioral contract. They are way overpopulated by clients, understaffed where clients don t get the appropriate attention or care that they need in order to get sober. The counselors have a disgusting attitude and will tell your loved ones whatever they want to hear regarding your treatment. They never take responsibility for anything. Their vivotrol shot literally sent me to the hospital. This time, they insisted my husband take me since they left me at the hospital the first time around. The doctors said to stay on bed rest for two days due to an allergic reaction. However, the next day they made me get out of bed regardless of what medical professionals insisted. Even if you tell the higher ups, because you are an addict or alcoholic, they will obviously take whatever the staff claims at face value. Notice most good reviews are from the family of loved ones, not usually people that experience it themselves. Also, if they did experience it the excuse they have is treatment isn t supposed to be someone catering to you. Serenity s website is not only misleading but it s false advertisement. This is not only a 28 day program. They can keep you as long as they see fit. Some I ve seen have to stay several months. If you EVER want to seek out help, go to IAC in Bartlett. They are amazing! You aren t treated differently because of your addiction, and they would never talk down to you like Serenitys staff will. Please, Please take all of the bad reviews into consideration before you are a loved one goes to this treatment facility. People are leaving there all of the time and dying!! They claim to be the best in Memphis, but I promise you, find other options! Brenda and Molly are the counselors for women there, and they have awful attitudes, the Psychologist was a meth addict and isn t even allowed to write prescription medication. He also claimed that I didn t have ADHD but it was then confirmed by several people that not only did I have it, but that s probably one of the main reasons I behaved certain ways my whole life. Disgusting Program
