Accepted Insurance

Madonna Heights Services – SCO Family of Services works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. The Madonna Heights Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) is a therapeutic program that provides the most intensive residential mental health services available outside of a hospital. The RTF Program helps youth increase connections with family, while improving outcomes through a youth informed, family-driven and trauma-sensitive approach to treatment. The 24-hour facility offers a wide range of therapeutic services as well as medical, mental health and substance abuse supports. The youth in residence attend the Madonna Heights School.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients who enroll in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) are typically either in early recovery or are experiencing a crisis that increases their relapse risk. These programs promote clients' sustained sobriety through robust support, including multiple, extended care sessions per week. Intensive outpatient treatment often encompasses an array of services, including psychotherapy, recovery education, and evidence-based holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and meditation. Many outpatient rehabs also offer medication assisted treatment (MAT).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients in rehab aftercare programs receive a customized portfolio of services designed to promote their sustained sobriety. These clients have completed high-level treatment, are typically exiting detox and/or intensive inpatient care and are reintegrating into their home, workplace, and community. Rehab aftercare services address addiction disease as a chronic condition requiring continuing care. Clients typically work with case managers and recovery teams to access necessary resources, such as peer coaching and 12 step program induction support.
12-step icon12-Step
Participants in 12 step programs maintain access to community-based peer support, which is the programs' primary treatment modality. 12 step recovery combines personal growth with paper coaching. Participants regularly attend group meetings, which are free, anonymous, open to the public, and available multiple times per day in most communities. They are also mentored by self-selected sponsors who guide them through the steps of recovery. Age and gender specific and other specialized formats are common.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in New York occurs when family members and friends lovingly confront someone with a substance use disorder. The goal of this confrontation is to motivate the person to seek treatment. Loved ones point out how the person's destructive behavior is affecting them in hopes that they will agree to get help. Most inpatient rehab facilities offer intervention services that can help families walk through this process step by step.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

During dialectical behavior therapy in New York, you and your therapist will look for triggers and patterns that are guiding your emotions. This involves keeping a diary of your emotions and situations and sharing this each week with the therapist. This information will determine what you work on in each session.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Introduced in 1983, motivational interviewing is a method to help clients commit to change. It's based on the philosophy that change is hard, and clients must explore their own options and come to their own conclusions rather than receive warnings or advice from the therapist.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

You can participate in couples therapy to focus on a specific problem in your relationship or for general strengthening of the relationship. This therapy aims to help you improve communication, address conflict, and grow in affection for one another.

The Madonna Heights Family Service Clinic is an outpatient mental health clinic, supporting families as they overcome obstacles and strengthen existing bonds. We offer individual, group, marital, family and play therapies to all members of families living in Nassau and Suffolk counties.

Coping with day to day living is a challenge while in addiction recovery. Life skills training helps you learn how to manage daily tasks and deal with stress in healthy ways. This is key to long term recovery.

At the time I didn't have nearly as much of an appreciation for this place as I do now. At Madonna Heights, I learned a lot in the ways of empathy for others around me and cooperation. I attended Madonna Heights around 2019, when I was at my worst. I left the RTF with a sense of community that I have never felt before, and I would love to personally thank some of the staff and my peers back then for that. One of my favorite skills that I would love to get back into was the jewelry making; The two teachers who taught were the kindest, most intelligent and creative ladies I have ever met. I still have my favorite piece that I created based on The Starry Night. :)

Was in the cottage , 2006 to 2008 was the only white girl there , also all the staff were black, got beat up and verbally abused daily , even had the police called one time after I was assaulted so bad , they had to put me in a seperate room by myself downstairs, prayed everyday until I was 18 to sign myself out.... no therapy or help just a prison being verbally and physically attacked on a daily basis by ghetto black girls thnx Tammy for the black eye....

I lived at Madonna Heights in the 1964 stayed for 4 years. It was the best thing that happened to me! I learned many skills as well as my education was on a better track. Although being black many concerns were not addressed nor were we encouraged to achieve greater success. I loved living there. I learned how to sew industrial and fashion clothing. We were encouraged to be leaders of our unit. I was active in all sports. I am thankful for the spiritual learning was as expanded into a true spiritual life.

Response from the owner2 years ago

terrible place , attended 2 y ago for 2ysat around and learned nothing but from the teachers who care( Dwyer, Sherwood, Bottone) older teachers are there to instill the beliefs from years ago constantly reminding students of how it used to be with teachers hitting etc. Inpatient girls are SCARY and belong in a real rehabilitation center not here. I attended with a girl who killed her brother and 2 others in a car accident when she was 15 and not supposed to be driving , why did the judge sentence her here why was it an option? , she was able to see her child frequently and gloated about getting away with what she did. Girls fight each other like a real jail and teachers are intended to act as prison guards who have minimal training are supposed to injure themselves to detain these girls. Some girls are in gangs and cause issues due to rivalry and obviously wear gang signs such as bandanas , durags that are colored red/blue , full outfits , sneakers , things that staff can 100% control. They are entitled , mad at the system and unaware of the real world consequences of any or all of their actions. Minimal to no control of anyone is displayed here , if you can go somewhere else run from here.

1983-1984, place was run by nuns. The head nun never smiled, actually I think she did once in my time there. It was tough, finding out within the last couple of years I m adhd, autistic and ODD, which is a definite trait of mine, always the defiant one, hate rules but follow them (for the most part) now I wonder why all the therapy I had to endure didn t see what was wrong with me, or if they knew something it wasn t shared with me, amazed at how in this day and age all your records are kept from you. Not allowed to have one single record from any doctor or school. Anyway, I don t know how MH is run now, or if they even have to wear the ugly uniforms. Sure, now as an adult it did some good, set me straight enough to stay out of trouble.

Horrible place. If anything I learned how to be worse. They teach you nothing. You wake up, shower, eat breakfast, go to school do chores and get bullied. A lot of the girls who I attended their with belong in jail. Are in jail or have a very failed life as of right now. I m so glad the judge said I didn t belong there and I was released.
