The director of nursing is very unprofessional. And the director of the hospital refused to allow me access to my kid claiming that the hospital's policy is that the patients are not allowed visits for 72 hours and everyone is very unprofessional and more worried about policy than the patients. My kid is in voluntarily and not on a 72 hrs hold

Realistically, zero stars. Came here to detox from prescription medication and had my sterling silver cross necklace stolen from me. It was on my inventory, but when I left, they conveniently couldn t find it. I was also missing a Winco gift card from my purse as well. They blocked incoming calls for me as well. I don t know what is going on at this place, but they clearly are shady and Don t care about the well-being of the people that they re treating.

Accepted Insurance

Safe Haven Hospital of Treasure Valley works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to the treatment. Safe Haven offers a secure behavioral and mental health hospital with expert psychiatric staff that is able to serve in an inpatient and outpatient basis.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

The staff is ridiculously bad. It makes me laugh how bad it is; they are such selfish people that they do not even care to treat you well for your recovery, they treat you as if you were less than them!

I have been to 4 mental health facilities in Idaho.I believe Lifeways facility is the best in Boise. The staff is enthusiastic and aware of their patients needs. The staff is awesome! However, there is always room for improvement. It s important to remember that the people who work there, are also human. Things are not perfect. But that is a lesson learned through trial and error. I have personally witnessed Lifeways, make great changes/ improvements over the course of three years. I have been in this facility twice. They helped me to grow through my trauma.I m forever grateful.P.S. I think the janitor with purple hair is fantastic! (I apologize for not remembering her name:)Thank you again,Laura Graham

Wow!!. . I can't believe anyone could give a rating higher than this... Would give a ZERO if I could..I was trying to reach a loved one and they left me on speaker phone (Could hear them in the background just joking away and not even making an attempt to contact love one)... SICKENING!!...CAN YOU IMAGINE IF YOU HAD A LOVE ONE AT LIFEWAY'S AND CANNOT CONTACT THEM BECAUSE OF A BUNCH OF VERY UNPROFESSIONAL NURSE'S AND STAFF???

I spent 9 days here. The staff treated me with respect and dignity. My incoming nurse, Erika, was very patient and kind, a real genuine person. Erika, I appreciate so much you loving care and am going to miss you. To the other nurses, Jim, Eric, Anna, Alexis, Divina, Jerry, and all the others, you all demonstrated a level of humanity and compassion that is so need in the world today. Thank you all for your wonderful support in this difficult time of my life. To the techs, Ibra, Jakin, Hannah, Shelby, Krystel, Hope Erin, Nora, CJ, and all the other techs I've missed, you all have a genuine desire to help those in need which I'm so grateful to have met you all. You are all wonderful people, so thank you so much. Never did I once feel pressured to participate in group therapy nor did I see them pressure any other patients as well. The food was very good. Breakfast consisted of oatmeal, some type of fruit, blueberries, strawberries, or black berries, a protein, usually hard boiled eggs or scrambled eggs and a drink, milk, apple juice, orange juice, or cranberry juice. For lunch we were served turkey or roast beef sandwiches with baked Lay's chip or salad. I would say the sandwiches were top notch. We also had chicken salad or tuna wraps. For dinner, we were served chicken, broccoli, rice dish, sliced beef from a roast or meatloaf. The sides consisted of salad, fresh carrot and celery sticks with ranch dip, mashed potatoes with gravy, or steamed broccoli and carrots, chicken carbanara with some of the best garlic bread I've ever had, enchiladas with refried black bean, and a chicken and rice soup. All dinner meals came with an after dinner dessert like mini ice cream sandwiches, spiced cake, jello, or a pudding. I thought all the meals had great flavor. With that, if you needed extra flavor the following was available: salt and pepper, ranch, hot sauce, and mayonnaise and mustard. Chief Glen always prepared our food with love and I appreciate his effort. To the administration staff, you have a great group of employees that are truly dedicated to helping and making a difference in others life. Also, a very big thanks to Lenette, I hope that is right, the housekeeper. She did a great job keeping everything fresh and clean, laundry picked up, and fresh bedding. I appreciate your dedication, as some would veiw this as a dirty j. But, a little secret, I like to clean the bathrooms too. Lastly, a big shout of praise to my SW, Kacey. I am thankful to have had such a kind, loving, and wonderful person to help me. You showed genuine concern for me in my troubling situation and never made me feel ashamed or worthless. I thank you so much for your help with finding me a therapist for my specific illness and I will always remember you. I am forever grateful for you assistance and hope that we may cross paths in public. I wish all of the staff the best and hope we cross paths in the public as well. You are all the best..

At first, I hated this place. It felt like a lazy jail, because technically you can t leave. You also have to wear scrub pants and a scrub shirt if you don t bring your own clothes with you. The food they make was always a simple, easy dish with no flavor. They also don t supply the women in this place with tampons or even pads for when we get our periods. However, they DO give you smoke breaks every hour Unlike Intermountain Mental Hospital. You never want to get sent to intermountain. It s worse than Lifeways.I started kind of liking Lifeways simply because I was able to make a friend in there, who helped make my time in there a lot more tolerable. Also, the group activities weren t that bad at all. Sometimes they were sort of fun. My least favorite part of being in this place was when they d wake me up at 5:00 in the morning just to check my vitals. I am not a morning person. Other than that, the staff there was pretty nice to me and lenient at times. I d come here again if I ever have another life crisis.

Staff kept my boyfriend locked in his room 24/7 wouldn't let him attend any groups and when he'd come out to all to use the phone the staff cussed him out. If your looking for a safe place for your loved one to go seek help this is not it.

Response from the owner1 year ago
Apologies that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. We have reported this comment as it does not accurately depict what occurred and may mislead others into not seeking the help that they need. Again, it is unfortunate that your stay did not meet your expectations and for that we apologize.
