About Root Center for Advanced Recovery – Hartford Dispensary

Root Center for Advanced Recovery provides addiction and mental health treatment for adolescents and adults. They have locations throughout Connecticut, including the Hartford Dispensary in Norwich. When you arrive, you’ll see that they specialize in medication assisted treatment and outpatient services to help you overcome substance abuse.

After they perform an assessment to learn more about your needs, your provider will create a tailored treatment plan to help you reach your recovery goals. Some of the services they offer at this clinic include individual, family, and group therapy, medication management and psychoeducational lectures. If you need to visit frequently to stay healthy and sober, they have an intensive outpatient program.

If your team decides that FDA approved addiction medications can help your recovery journey, they may prescribe buprenorphine, naltrexone or methadone. When combined with counseling and behavioral therapy, these meds can help reduce the physical and psychological aspects of addiction.

One former client says this is the place to go if you’re looking to beat your addictions and improve your behavioral health. Another said his counselor is very supportive and truly cares about his recovery.

These people don't care about your recovery. They only care about how much their dumb iop program can make. Not to mention the discrimination going on inside this place

Knowing the staff has to deal with some difficult people 'i get why they might have a attitude once in awhile. This program probably saved my life but it definitely changed since I've been coming here for 22 years. Seems to me that the MONEY is mostimportant to this place' but that's the sad part I am grateful for this place still the same. Thanks.

Accepted Insurance

Root Center for Advanced Recovery – Hartford Dispensary works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Connecticut provides the professional support that is often necessary to break free from drug dependency. With proper treatment, individuals can make changes that restore balance and health to their lives and achieve long-term recovery.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Horrible staff, horrible doctors, they DO NOT care about your recovery. If you reach out for help because you feel like everything around you is falling to pieces and you just need a hand to grab, plan on falling because they will lend not even a finger. I was feeling like relapsing and I tried to talk to my counselor and let them know what was going on you know the right thing to do. I explained I felt like I was going to use and the response I got was well that's up to you. Not a comforting ear, not somewhere to vent, not a safe place, NOTHING, just well if you use that's on you. Again they couldn't care less about your recovery. Pretty sad way to run a recovery clinic. The number of overdoses is apparent due to the lack of support. I digress...USE CAUTION!

Anyone wishing to get a hold on their behavioral health and addiction(s) this is the place. The counselor I see is great. She works with me to improve my options and recieve more detailed care. IOP program here is fantastic. The only issue is you need to do your best to follow their rules and regulations. It may seem strict and you may want to complain when something goes wrong. A proper attitude and genuine willingness to improve are your best tools for recovery. They want the best for you.

Behavioral Health and Addiction Services. Intensive out patient services. A medication treatment option. Something I would highly recommend. I'm 56 years old now and I've been on the program since 1992 so I think it's given me an extra 30 plus years of life. Thank you Root center.

I had George as A counselor he was quite helpful and seemed to genuinely care about my recovery. There's never a line when I arrive at 6am. I'm in and out in ten minutes. Pretty clean environment. Not a lot of sketchyness in the parking lot which is a plus. Nikki is one of the nurses there and she is their best employee. Always remembers me and greets me happily and enthusiastically. She's a bright light there. She needs a promotion!
