About Riverside Recovery

Riverside Recovery is an outpatient treatment center located in Lewiston, Idaho. They treat patients with chemical dependency and mental health disorders (dual diagnosis). They also work with the State of Idaho to help families dealing with Child Protective Services to connect them with substance use treatment providers to be able to reunite families.

The center accepts state funding through the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (IDHW), Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections, and other entities. They also accept most major insurance and they take Medicaid. They won’t turn you away for an inability to pay.

The staff uses the Global Appraisal of Individual Needs (GAIN) assessment to evaluate your strengths, needs, weaknesses, and problems. This helps them prioritize your most pressing needs while creating a treatment plan.

In the regular outpatient program, you’ll have six hours of treatment per week. This includes meeting with addiction professionals in regularly scheduled sessions. You’ll participate in group and individual therapy sessions.

If you attend the intensive outpatient treatment program (IOP), you’ll have nine hours of treatment per week. The IOP includes meeting with addiction professionals in a structured program and regular sessions. This program also includes individual and group therapy sessions. Your family may also attend some sessions.

You’ll have a case manager to help you figure out what’s best for your recovery. They offer childcare during individual and group therapy sessions. They can also help coordinate transportation to and from group and individual sessions.

There’s also a weekly PRN group. This is a peer assistance program specifically to help healthcare professionals in recovery.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Idaho provides treatment for addiction to drugs. It usually includes a combination of treatment methods that can involve counseling, medication, and a variety of evidence-based therapies. Programs are designed to help individuals manage their substance use disorder long-term.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

It is a place that helps you overcome your addiction problems by working together with other people who are going through the same problem. Very good organization!

I liked the people skills of the owner but management is disorganized and the aggressiveness of the managements style caused problems for me which contributed to this clinic reporting to a specialty court that I was not emotionally invested in the program, though I made every meeting, talked openly about problems and contributed to groups. I felt that what I said to my counselors about negative views of the program should have remained with my counselor and not been a reason for them to vote to send me to prison. Furthermore the centers lack of accountability for their mistakes and screwups was an additional factor in me getting in trouble, recieving sanctions which involved excessive community service and them relinquishing me from the program. If they say they will be somewhere to pick me up while recieving government funding for transporting people involved in the program, than they don't show up, they should be sanctioned not me. I was told it was my responsibility to get to appointments, regardless of them showing up as promised. The entire process and reliance of mental health court on riverside recovery should be thoroughly reviewed by legislation and the governor to ensure a strange monopoly does not exist. The two locations I was recieving treatment from, one being at the regional behavioral health center owned by the state of Idaho is ran by the sister of the owner of riverside recovery which I believe contributed to me getting kicked off the program and sent go prison for a year. Overall I am disappointed in the quality of care mandated by the federal government and the state of idaho, some of what I felt were HIPAA violations in communications to the court I was in, than lack of patient advocacy which was mainly hostile to me all were problems involved. I felt they should have been proponents, advocating that I was engaged and active in all court requirements. Furthermore naive and questionable practices of their drug testing subcontractor led to one guaranteed false positive of an herb called kratom which my other weekly drug testing lab for my doctors office confirmed no presence of kratom led to the relinquishing. If this facility had their I anticipate suppression of freedom of speech would be on the agenda.
