outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

When you enroll in drug rehab in Virginia, a treatment plan is designed by professional staff in order to help you overcome drug addiction and modify addictive behaviors. This may include evidence-based treatments, group and individual therapy, and relapse prevention.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

art-brush iconCreative Arts Therapy

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Rational Behavior Therapy

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy meant to be short-term and comprehensive. It was intended to help clients become more self-sufficent and move forward without the need for expensive, ongoing therapy. It includes an emotional self-help method called “rational self-counseling,” the purpose of which is to give clients all the skills needed to handle future emotional issues by themselves, or with significantly less professional help.

recreational-therapy iconRecreational Therapy

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I highly recommend NOT using this facility. They offer same day appointments and even transportation. At first the staff seemed awesome, but the providers were more than rude when after taking absolutely no vitals whatsoever and only urine sample.....the "doctor" looks right at me insults my intelligence and states that my vitals are normal all the while watching as I was crying shaking and having a full on mental breakdown. The patients whom I witnessed leaving the clinic all were lifeless like zombies and these so called providers have no care or concern for helping you nor listening to anything you have to say they just wanted to prescribe medications that are more habit forming, easily abused and have absolutely no research to back up the ability to resolve the illness that accompanies addiction. Their office was NOT busy and yet I was rushed out of the practice for refusing to accept the medications offered. If you are looking for a place that will not only treat your addiction issues but also listen to your concerns, nor treat you like a moron as they had myself. I strongly suggest to avoid this place as any option whatsoever, you'll be written off as just another warm body and the medications they offer are by far through extensive research the worst possible for anyone who wishes to stay clean as well as refrain from creating a new drug habit that could in fact kill you as well as build up in your system which after the drug no longer pacify the user can lead to the use of other drugs. This is dangerous as overdose can occur becoming fatal.

I was a self pay patient for 2 plus years until June of 2024, they increased their office visit from $100 per month to $400 per month! That's right!!! increased the office visit by $300. If people could afford a $400 per month office visit, they would be able to afford medical insurance! Ridiculous!Side Note: The provider I was assigned to, Mary Valentine was always professional and very welcoming and always made me feel comfortable. Very easy to talk to.Aside of Mrs. Valentine, I would NOT recommend Brightview health to anyone who is self pay. They are ROBBERY!!!!!!

This place is not for those seeking real recovery. It was even worse when it was Rightpath Derricka the supposed manager was evil. I was in for a group session and saw my doc in the hallway and asked if I could speak to him he gladly said yes and I did. I left went back to work and Derricka calls me and said I was being sneaky and she was going to charge me for an office visit also wanted To know what I wanted to talk to the doc about.I told her it was none of her damn business and if she wanted to charge me just go ahead and try to, I dared her. She then said if I wanted my meds I d pay for it. I told her she had it backwards. I wasn t going to be the one paying for this situation. This was commonplace there they d hold you script hostage for any amount owed. Get this therapy sessions cost 30.00 and they don t bill INSURANCE as their counselors aren t fully certified and insurance won t pay for sessions they lead. The kicker is the cancellation fee for a 30.00 group was 50.00 WTH? Brightview is not quite as militant as Rightpath however it s the same mentality. All they care about is your co-pay and you making your so called therapy sessions many of which consisted of a couple people talking about classic guitars or their child s court case etc not in a recovery type way but just people venting about what s going on in their lives. Individual sessions were pretty good especially with the right therapist, they have a couple good ones. Shout out to Sacha - you re the best!!!. My so called provider a Mary Valentine a female nurse practitioner, very impressed with herself, flat out lied to me as to why after 13 years of recovery I couldn t be seen bi monthly. Two months prior another provider at Brightview told me yes I could and scheduled me so. When I returned 60 days later I was told it was due to noncompliance (missing appointments/therapy sessions)and I had missed none and never been late to an appt or missed one. Matter of fact the same day I arrived for my monthly visit which has been the same day of the week same time and had been for a few years. They didn t even schedule me an appt for my (at the time) one and only bi-monthly visit and failed to schedule a therapy session. Thankfully they said I could still be seen as it was their error). When I pressed the provider, Mary as to how was I not compliant then she changed gears and said it was a front office decision and no one would be allowed to be seen no monthly. She said the reason the business office did things was beyond her. She had no idea why they made the decisions they did. I told her I know why because six co-pays a year is less than 12 co-pays a year anyone with half a brain can see that. Go to Inspiration Addiction Treatment in Virginia Beach and Norfolk they are much much much better than this place even if you have to drive to get to them, you should. They offer telehealth and bi-monthly appointments, they are welcoming, friendly, caring, understanding, and some of their providers are even in recovery themselves. Don t make the same mistake I did, and go to Brightview, it s anything but. My provider, Mary Valentine also told me how another provider I saw last appt was fired and made no bones about telling me it was for cause which is a huge breech of confidentiality in any office setting much less an office bound by HIPPA privacy laws. If she ll talk about a coworker to a patient who does she talk to about patients? Inspiration Addiction is where you should be. NOT THIS PLACE!! If you must go there ask for someone other than M Valentine.
