About Co-occurring Residential Program – Pioneer Human Services

Pioneer’s Co-occurring Residential Program (CORP) treats mental health disorders and addiction simultaneously. This Seattle, Washington, recovery center serves voluntary or court ordered adult men and women who are resistant to treatment. You’ll benefit from a multifaceted team of professionals to support you in recovery.

Before starting treatment you complete a comprehensive needs assessment. This expert backed tool helps to determine the best level of care based on your mental health, medical, and addiction treatment needs. You’ll have access to individual sessions integrating moral reconation therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, and relapse prevention training. These approaches can help you recognize and change the behaviors contributing to addiction.

What stands out to me most is the use of moral reconation therapy. Originally designed to decrease recidivism, this intervention helps enhance your moral reasoning to reduce and sometimes eliminate relapse. You’ll participate in a blended approach with cognitive behavioral and other therapies. Moral reconation therapy enables you to grow morally and socially.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Medical detox is often the first step in addiction recovery and involves ridding the body of drugs and/or alcohol in a supervised inpatient setting. If you've become physically dependent on substances like alcohol, benzodiazepines (like Xanax), or opioids, quitting abruptly may cause uncomfortable or even dangerous side effects. In medically assisted detox, a team of medical professionals will help manage any potential withdrawal symptoms with the aim of keeping you as safe and comfortable as possible.

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When me and my parents drove 4 hours to drop off my brother's stuff at this facility, some lady in a hideous pink track suit was so rude to us. She freaked out on us, and they mentioned on the phone that if my brother looks out the window, he could be in trouble. That was a huge red flag, and I will definitely be looking into transferring my brother out of this facility. He hates it there, and mentions that the staff are very rude and treat the people who are in treatment like trash.
