I highly recommend Carol to everyone who wants to step outside of themselves, face their fears, process traumas, and heal emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I have always felt safe to express myself and I highly value her feedback immensely. Working with Carol has given me confidence, perspective, and has helped me increase my value and sense of self-worth. She has been the catalyst to help me move from survival mode into thrive mode. Her intelligent approach and skills with EMDR have been so valuable to me. I am thankful for her presence in my life!

It's taken me a few months to write this review- which reflects the amount of time it has and continues to take to process the negative and abusive experience I encountered while initiating therapy with Carol Seydewitz. I only saw her two times, but it was enough for me to know that what I was experiencing was not even close to being a therapeutic relationship.... and that I was, in fact, dealing with an incredibly judgmental, ill-assuming, pretentious narcissist. And I do say this with a strong medical background, as I am an Advanced Nurse Practitioner with a specialty in women's health and obstetrics and also pursuing a second board certification in psychiatric mental health. I am training in multiple psychotherapy modalities and can't imagine treating any of my patients the way I was treated... ever!! I had a bad feeling after the first phone call, but true to my personality, like to give people the benefit of the doubt. With each visit, her insidious, abusive nature became more apparent. I have now found an amazing therapist, and this new therapist offers a compassionate, non-judgemental sounding board, activities/practices that help me work through my struggles and inspires me in my future private practice in psych/mental health. I hope that by writing this... I save someone from the terrible experience of therapist trauma and feeling like there is no one out there to help you. There are therapists that practice what they preach, are compassionate, value you as a person (because you ARE important and amazing, no matter what you have going on), that are non-judgemental and will help you. You should NOT be afraid or uncomfortable around your therapist... that is a fear tactic to gain control. Hard pass on Carol Seydewitz and try others until you find the right person for you (because no matter who you are, I can tell you that she is not the right one). May you find peace, acceptance and love, dear friend.

For years I ve been trying to work up the courage to go to therapy. The fear of divulging your most personal life stories to a stranger is daunting. Finding the right person seems impossible, so I decided to make an appointment with Carol. Right when i walked in she asked how i felt. I said that i felt a little nervous and wasn t sure what to expect. She looked at me and her reply was Good. If you feel comfortable with your therapist then they aren t doing their job right . Again, i didn t have any set expectations going into the appointment since it was my first time, but what I experienced reinforced the terror of the idea that is therapy. It s taken me some time to reflect on how I feel that my session went. What I felt after the session was deep regret. I regretted opening up to someone who I should ve been able to trust. I felt judged, invalidated, and ashamed. If not for the encouragement of my support network I would not have given another therapist a chance.

Accepted Insurance

LifeStance Therapists & Psychiatrists Brookfield works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox involves weaning your body off drugs and/or alcohol in an inpatient setting, and is often the first step in addiction recovery. Quitting alcohol and certain drugs (like benzodiazepines or opioids) can cause dangerous side effects once you have become physically dependent. In medically assisted detox, a team of on-site healthcare professionals will work to keep you safe and comfortable during this process. Additionally, they may administer medications when needed to alleviate any withdrawal symptoms.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy gives you the opportunity to understand and manage the emotional and physical responses that often follow witnessing or experiencing a traumatic event. Working with an experienced and trained therapist, you can process the events of the trauma and develop healthier coping strategies to reduce your symptoms.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Addiction treatment in Wisconsin emphasizes life skills training to help you relearn critical capabilities for day to day life. This training helps you build healthy, positive strategies for everything from self care, to career, to interpersonal relationships.

It is very sad that this is the 6th different center I go to and each one of them are the same, they only care for the money they earn and not for the people receiving treatment to improve.

They seemed very good until they stopped returning calls and would not schedule any more appointments. I'm sure getting ghosted by your therapist is healthy.

We were patients of Carol. We missed an appointment and although we are 100% sure it was her scheduling mistake the situation was not handled well. You could tell for sure that it was driven by money and that broke the trust immediately. She instantly turned rude and condescending. A year later I got a bill stating I owed money still which was quite a shock to me. After contacting them, I was informed that they had a new billing person because the last one did not do a very good job of keeping things straight. Turned out I did still owe and it wasn't what the statement showed. I was able to clear it up and paid my last bill. I will never return, but the silver lining was that the new billing lady was super nice and provided good customer service as she understood my frustration. That's the only reason for 2 stars. So in conclusion, 0/5 stars for Carol, 5/5 for the niceness of the new billing lady, 2/5 stars over all because I am still bitter. Mental health services should not be a money game but I guess that is the world we live in.
