Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehab enables clients to continue to work, attend school, or reside at home while undergoing treatment, including addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Evening, night, and weekend sessions are available at many facilities to ensure continuous access to care on the client's schedule. Many centers also offer ancillary services, such as career coaching and peer mentoring, to promote clients' sustained recovery and community integration. Higher-level outpatient treatment, including intensive outpatient (IOP) care, is also widely available.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition Therapy

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

To whomever it may concern: on Saturday July 13th 2024, I was exposed to discrimination and medical neglect by the staff at Parkland Medical Center in Farmington Missouri.Between the hours of 2:00pm and 4:00pm, my partner and I entered the Emergency Room entrance so that I could be seen and treated for both Classic and Exertion Heatstroke. Heatstroke is a clear medical emergency and has a high likelihood of death.Upon looking at me, the nurses in attendance assumed that I was not in any danger and deemed me a "drug user" or "drug seeker."This decision was clear to me based on their speech and mannerisms. While being triaged, my partner, who was speaking for me as I was near unconsciousness, was abruptly cut off and they demanded I speak and answer questions. The questions they asked me specifically pertained to whether or not I used drugs or were on drugs. They handed me a specimen cup and told me to go back into the waiting room to pee in the cup. (I was physically unable to do so due to the extreme muscle cramps that accompany Heatstroke.) The individual handing me the cup said, and I quote, "Don't worry if you don't have to pee right now. We will make sure to get it from you before you can leave."While taking my Blood Pressure and Oxygen, another nurse was witnessed laughing at my plight and rolling her eyes, as if I was being dramatic, by my partner. These actions immediately made the both of us feel unsafe in the presence of the staff. I felt bullied, threatened, and discriminated against based strictly on my appearance. We decided that it would be in my best interest to not be seen by this hospital and to leave immediately. We were discharged sans recommendation against such actions as is proper protocol.By putting a drug test before care and treatment, my right to dignity and proper human care were utterly neglected.Due to this incident, I will be filing a complaint under the Missouri Human Rights Act with the MCHR.

Went in at 4:30 pm for abdominal pain, got blood work done. blood work came back fine, but they said they wanted to do a ultra sound and so I waited for a ultrasound for 6 hours only to be sent home and told to come back tomorrow.

This place is not a patient friendly place. The real problem is the overpriced services, which are assumed relevant because they offer services as an emergency service provider. The cost for service was absurd; underwhelming services also. Left with a $3000.00 plus bill and no actual diagnosis. They did provide some generic medication to offset whatever was happening. Do not recommended to go to Parkland Health Center unless it is your absolute only option, or you're transported there in an ambulance. I would avoid this place is what I mean to say.

What a horrible experience last week trying to get critical care for our mother. She was in the ER for 16 hours and we couldn't get a clear answer on what was causing her pain in her neck, shoulder and chest. They ran a few tests said it was not her heart, but her pain was bad. They finally added a patch and another doctor saw her as they thought it was the muscle below her shoulder or maybe a break, it was not. For several hours, she couldn't have anything to drink (even water). After finally being discharged saying there was nothing wrong but a stressed muscle, sent her home. I get she is 91 years young, but something further could have been done. Within a couple of days we could see her getting worse, called in Legacy Hospice and they very quickly determined she was in heart failure and began treatment immediately. It is apparent to me and my family that the ER doctors didn't care because she was elderly. With the fast reaction from Legacy, she has turned the corner and is doing better. Treatment is on the right track. This could have been taken care of in that 16 hours. Nursing staff was kind and pleasant, but they can only do what the doctors tell them to do. Such a disappointment that this facility is a member of BJC. I have a lot of respect for BJC, but I will never send a loved one to this facility in Farmington. Also the staff person who was opening the doors for us to enter the ER was very rude. We were there for the full 16 hours so of course we had to come and go. She didn't like it at all and felt like she was being inconvenienced.

Emergency room is a jokeNursing staff is great. The doctor my son was seen by today was not. My sons (3yr old) oxygen level was at 90% dipping down frequently, the nurse recommended a breathing treatment and a re-check of his oxygen level before we left, doctor refused. The doctor stated his breathing was fine, it was not he was having retractions in his chest, he said he wasn t wheezing or raspy, you could hear him wheezing across the room. We left more worried than when we came in.

I do not recommend this pathetic hospital with pathetic doctors and nurses. They barely did anything for me and they're rude. Hell, one girl died of bone cancer because of this hospital.
