About Vocational Rehabilitation Palmetto Center

For those in Florence, South Carolina, whose employment is impeded or threatened by substance abuse or dependence, Vocational Rehabilitation Palmetto Center provides a comprehensive range of vocational and treatment services. In their voluntary four week residential program, compassionate professionals walk you through the emotional and physical challenges of facing addiction and regaining control over your life.

From the time of admission until the point of employment, an addictions counselor offers support and direction. They also teach you how to identify the obstacles that lead to addictive behavior and reinforce the positive outlook and abilities needed to overcome them. For residential patients, licensed and trained nurses offer basic medical care. Healthcare requirements such as the dispensing of necessary drugs are closely monitored.

This is a controlled setting with educational materials and games to help you unwind, let off steam, and remember how much fun playing can be. The energy required to engage in every facet of the residential program is supplied by wholesome meals. A sense of community offers an organic support structure. As you investigate the attitudes that give rise to addiction and the physical and psychological effects it has on your body, you are treated with dignity and expected to accept accountability for your own actions.

Group therapy provides a safe space to express your emotions, gain insight from others experiences, respect oneself, and cultivate positive relationships with others. Guest speakers offer support and encouragement by sharing their personal stories of overcoming addiction and going on to lead successful lives. Family therapy, other sessions, and visitation are available to family members who wish to help you.

Referrals to job retention services are eligible for expedited admission. The program’s employment component is essential. Together, you and a specialist determine what assets, skills and priorities will result in a successful job outcome. Job readiness training focuses on particular issues like stress reduction, resolving conflicts and controlling anger in a healthy way. As you return to work and a drug free lifestyle, your VR counselor will still be there to support you.

Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs provide flexibility and accommodation for clients who prefer to remain in their homes and workplaces while in recovery. They also facilitate clients' sustained sobriety for clients stepping down from intensive inpatient care. Clients may engage in day, evening, night, or weekend treatment sessions, which typically involve addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Many outpatient facilities also offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) and evidence-based holistic therapies, such as yoga and massage.

inpatient iconInpatient Rehab

Clients who have just completed detox, those who are in crisis, and those with a history of relapse often require treatment in an inpatient rehab. These facilities provide high-level supervision, structure, and support, allowing clients to focus on their recovery away from their addiction triggers. Most inpatient treatment programs center upon various forms of psychotherapy, including CBT, DBT, RBT, and motivational interviewing. Clients may also receive recovery-focused life skills training and evidence-based holistic therapies, such as massage.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients engaged in a rehab aftercare program are in a more advanced stage of recovery. Many have already completed inpatient detox and/or rehab and have returned to their home, workplace, and community. Rehab aftercare services are designed to support clients' recovery over the long term and typically include a broad portfolio of resources, such as peer coaching and 12 step program induction. Clients may collaborate with their case manager and care team to create their care plan.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Choosing a drug rehab in South Carolina helps you overcome drug dependency, learn how to manage cravings, and obtain the tools needed to prevent relapse. This is accomplished through individualized treatment that addresses a full spectrum of physical, social, and emotional needs.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

substance-abuse iconSubstance Abuse

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Best decision I ever made was to come here, July 25th, 2010. I'll b 14yrs sober in july!! I have never regretted that decision to get clean. Thank uuu all for yallz help, support, and looove!! If anyone's still there from waaay bk when, I'm the one who made all the kandi for everyone there and ppl were calling me "the butterfly lady". I'm constantly telling ppl about this facility. There's only 4 of us, myself included that has been sober since they left there. Unfortunately alot of ppl went bk out in their addictions and are no longer alive and some are bk in prison. But, that's the price u pay when u don't take the program seriously or u don't really wanna get clean!! I'm sooo thankful I wanted this for myself and the Lord Jesus Christ has kept me sober since!! God bless uuu all and ur families and the ppl that are at this facility!!

These folks saved my wife and I from complete hopelessness and despair. Over 5 years now and we will be forever grateful for the counselors. I needed to go to a halfway house for awhile after I graduated because I knew I would use if I didn't, they lined it all up. Grateful
