About OakBend Medical Center – Jackson Street Hospital Campus

Oakbend Medical Center is a private hospital with a behavioral health rehabilitation program in Richmond, Texas. In addition to their mental health support program, they provide a wide range of primary and emergency care services. Their behavioral health program serves senior clients. The senior behavioral health program is hospital based, so clients can get additional care as needed for other health concerns. Family involvement is a significant component of treatment. Services offered include:

Residential programs are designed for clients who need a high level of care. Clients live at the facility during the course of the program and have their basic needs met by staff. Clients in this program are monitored by staff 24 hours a day to ensure their safety.

The core of treatment is therapy. A typical day in inpatient treatment follows a schedule of recovery and education activities. Family members are strongly encouraged to participate in these activities.

The goal of this program is to treat a client’s symptoms and to provide education and skills to help them cope in a healthy way. The senior program is also designed to help clients maintain their independence.

Residential care at this facility also provides family support programs. Often, family members experience increased stress when a loved one undergoes treatment. Support ensures they are informed and involved in the process.

I have chronic back pain from a previous scoliosis surgery. Now have bulging discs, herniated discs, adjacent segment disease and much more. Yesterday I had to leave work early and went to ER. The dr basically said he can t give me anything for pain except an RX for tramadol. He then said I should ve called my pain specialist whom I have an appt with on the 18th. I just wanted pain relief until that date. He was rushed. He never did a physical exam on me. He didn t test my gait, didn t look at my back at all. The nurses were all GREAT but this Dr basically said he couldn t do anything and this is why chronic pain patients HATE going to the ER bc they think we just want to be effed up on pain meds. . What a joke.

Two weeks ago I had to take my kid to the ER after an accident. Any time your child is sick or hurt it is a scary experience but thanks to Dr. Woo we were thoroughly and compassionately taken care of! He was so thoughtful and AMAZING. I really appreciated how he took his time talking with us and he even did a physical exam (unlike other doctors). We were in and out quickly and Dr. Woo made sure I knew what to look out for in case I needed to return. I can t thank him enough for the care and peace of mind he gave us. I just wish he could also be my kids pediatrician!

Accepted Insurance

OakBend Medical Center – Jackson Street Hospital Campus works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
After completing some form of inpatient care, many clients transition or step down to an outpatient rehab, while some choose to transition from detox directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education, and some also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs offer high-level care for clients as an increased risk of relapse, including those in early recovery, those with a strong history of relapse, and those experiencing a crisis. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in nine to 20 hours of care weekly, with treatment modalities that combine psychotherapy and recovery education, and holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and animal therapy. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is also common in alcohol and/or opioid recovery.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

it was on wednesday morning i walked in at the Emergency room around 12:51 they took me in right away and sited me on a chair in the hall way the nurses had complications with their computers, taking my x-rays and gave me a hard time I had severe nausea and stomach pain And back pain i was in the x ray room for 30 min after that, they sent me back down on the chair And had no attendance at all waited there till 4:30 I asked the nurse for something for nausea because I started throwing up after that, I asked the doctor and he seemed like he didn t care After some while they didn t give me anything for nausea or for pain The nurse that put my IV in did not tape it right on my arm. I happened to pull it out of my arm When I called the nurse she seemed more Concerned about cleaning the floor I asked to take me to the bathroom sheet just showed me directions after I wasn t feeling good so I walked out of the Emergency room And went to Memorial Hermann instead I am completely shocked and devastated for how they took car of me they just i Forgot the doctors name, but he was a Indian guy. He seemed completely careless about his patients He was literally literally sitting down on the computer for 4 hours I even walked up to him, ordering something for pain and nausea and he told me the nurse is Bringing the medication 2 hours later no body came to me :( memorial Hermann diagnosed me with a stomach flu. They took care of me and gave me something for pain and nausea within 25 minutes I am just concerned so no one else will have the same experience as me at oakbend emergency

The care I received before and after neck surgery at OakBend -Jackson was absolutely wonderful. Every person I came in contact with were friendly, helpful, supportive, competent, and professional. They answered questions, made me tea, got me extra blankets, and so much more. They did everything they could to keep me comfortable and they did so with friendly smiles. I cannot imagine better care than what I received.
