Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehabs provide a space for clients to focus exclusively on their recovery while receiving intensive supervision and support. Inpatient treatment centers provide housing and food and most offer round-the-clock clinical care. Their primary treatment modalities typically consist of addiction counseling using various psychotherapeutic methods, including CBT, DBT, RBT, and motivational interviewing. Many rehabs also provide specialized services for clients with co-occurring addiction and mental illness. Recovery-focused life skills training and holistic therapies are other common services.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in New York is a short term therapeutic method used to treat substance use and mental health disorders. CBT typically lasts from five to 20 sessions, based on the individual's needs.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

I would ve had a terrible birth experience as a first time mom if I would ve let Dr. Rosemary Ruggiero Deliver my baby. I m so happy I fire her! I had the physician assistant deliver my baby. I would ve had the front desk deliver if needed to. She insisted to keep on giving me cervical checks every 2 hours NOT MEDICALLY NECCESSARY.. not legal & not law: instead she said it s hospital policy and that it must be done. I told her that I m refusing (my body MY choice) she said basically I should ve had my baby at home then. (I came into the hospital at 6cm! As a FTM I wasn t to sure I was in labor so I decided to just make sure. Now that I know- I would definetly consider it than being stressed out by these MONEY HUNGRY doctors .She pretty much wanted me to get a C section .. didn t even give my baby a chance. I told the nurse to let me change positions to sit up in the king throne position instead of on my side as the epidural slowed everything down once I got to the hospital. Literally he came down instantly: but instead she kept trying to send in black nurses to talk me into multiple black nurses after I told her no and as if that would make a difference. I regret them having to break my water so soon only 3 hours after I go there. They were trying to rush everything literally. Everything was fine with me & baby:I asked her medically reasoning for wanting to give cervical checks every 2 HOURS as it leads to infection! Which then leads to C SECTION which I m sure she was hoping for to have a big pay day .. she just stated studies from a text book.. I said what IS MYYYYY reasoning.. couldn t answer and said I ll be back in 2 hours. I told the nurses she wouldn t deliver me! & I even the the supervisor of the floor that she wouldn t.Rosemary even lied to my face and said that multiple consistent every 2 hour cervix check doesn t lead to infection because the gloves are sterile. I knew then she wouldn t be delivering my baby or touching me! I m so happy I stood up for myself and ADVOCATED FOR MYSELF.Besides that witch, the birth team was amazing!! Supportive and follow my birth plan to the best of there ability. I initially allowed 3 cervix checks (one at admission, one 2 hours later and then that s it because I learned from my doula, my OBGYN, multiple research & videos that I can lead to infection & intervention. In the end; I did end up having an infection (I should ve gotten no cervix check) but. But Rosemary overall tone when talking to you was very condescending and every FTM or even second or 3rd time worse nightmare.I ended up getting transfer to NYU LANGONE in mnahttan and the postpartum care was sooo much better then the Brooklyn location. I would ve hated my postpartum care at the Brooklyn location. I literally had 6 different nurses in under a hour and it was overhelming. No medication given until a lady coming to check my blood pressure had to help me in the bathroom before I collapse after delivering and she got my nurse to give me pain medicationThe nurse at NYU manhttan told me why I let them check my cervix so much. So just save your time and go to NYU LANGONE MANHATTAN! Postpartum room was private.3 stars for my delivery team minus the witch. They all was great as well as the nurses in labor & delivery at both Brooklyn & manhattan who told me I don t have to have anything I don t want to.#birth
