About NorthKey Community Care

NorthKey Community Care is a treatment center located in Covington, Kentucky. They offer services to children, adults, veterans, and families who are struggling with co-occurring and substance abuse disorders. Services they offer at this location include crisis stabilization, school based therapy, early intervention, maternal assistance, case management, employment support, housing support and peer support. They also have a suicide prevention coalition for service members, veterans, and families. This facility is also Gold Seal approved and accepts Medicare and Medicaid insurance. They offer discounts and sliding scale fees based on criteria.

What sticks out to me the most are the different programs they offer at this facility. The Kentucky Moms Assistance Maternal Assistance Towards Recovery program is designed to support pregnant women and mothers who are six months postpartum.

They specialize in trying to get you the best care you need to help reduce the risks and harm while you are pregnant. They will help with transportation to medical appointments, community baby showers, nutritional information, housing resources/options, free classes and free baby gifts after attending classes. They also offer case management to better connect you to the care you need and community resources that you can benefit from.

Sometimes, receiving extra support during times of change can really help ease stress and anxiety with the pressure of starting your recovery journey. They have housing specialists to better assist you and help you with housing placement. They provide support through resource referrals and will clarify that you meet the criteria when applying for housing.

Their employment support service team can help you prepare for interviews, complete job applications and build your resume. They may even be able to set up connections with prospective employers.

Accepted Insurance

NorthKey Community Care works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare. NorthKey offers outpatient substance use services in several levels of frequency and intensity to facilitate the development and implementation of your personal recovery plan.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. NorthKey offers intensive outpatient services for adults who are using alcohol and/or drugs. Their intensive outpatient program follows evidence-based treatment protocols and is based on the best methods of promoting sobriety and recovery.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs ensure clients' access to continuing care after the completion of intensive inpatient treatment. Outpatient care is often considered a component of drug rehab aftercare, but most clients continue to receive support services after being discharged from formal treatment. Service portfolios are customized to clients' unique and evolving needs and are often designed in collaboration with clients' case managers and care teams. Peer coaching, career counseling, relapse prevention, and 12 step program induction are standard.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
A sober living home in Kentucky offers many benefits to those in recovery. These drug-free environments allow individuals to distance themselves from situations that would prompt triggers and lead to relapse. Men's and women's sober living also offers 12-step programs, counseling, job placement services, and long-term residence after treatment. During their stay, residents are required to abstain from alcohol and drug use, pay rent, and contribute to household responsibilities.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services provide an experienced professional to guide families through a drug intervention in Kentucky. The interventionist starts with an introduction, then acts as a mediator as family members share their concerns with the substance user. This addiction expert can then guide the family in appropriate next steps based on the outcome of the intervention. They can offer ongoing support for the intervention process, whether the individual chooses treatment or not.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Intensive levels of rehab involve 24-hour clinical care in Kentucky. This level of care is for those who have severe substance use disorders and need medical stabilization. Drug dependency can cause extreme withdrawal symptoms when the drug use stops, so this supervised care is necessary to treat those symptoms. Treatment involves 24-hour medical care, counseling, and medications.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox is the process of weaning your body off addictive substances in a medically supervised environment. An on-site medical team may include physicians, nurses, therapists, and other clinical staff whose job it is to monitor your vitals and provide medications if necessary to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. Their goal is to keep you as safe and comfortable as possible throughout the process.. Medically assisted detox programs are individualized to meet your specific needs and can vary in length, but they tend to last 5-7 days.

This place has a long history of abuse. Bad food, physical abuse, outright lying, and medical insurance fraud (of both public and private insurance). Stay away at all costs.

Lack of supervision and safety for children at Sun Behavioral Health North key in Ft wright KY. Do not take your children here for help they will hurt them please go to Cincinnati Children's or another mental health inpatient facility.they also do not allow you to see where you child is staying or sleeping. And visitation is in a freezing cold gymnasium with no privacy and with other patients and their families. If you have other children under the age of 12 they cannot come with you for visitation. Very sneaky and they will not give you copies of anything you sign. Red flag!!! Stay away if you care about the well being of you child.
