I've been seeing Dr A and others on his team for a while now, and most recently have completed TMS for depression following a previous TMS treatment for anxiety. Both treatments have helped to improve my mood and life significantly, as someone who has persistent depression and anxiety. I feel I can think more clearly, have had less lows in my mood, and overall have started feeling ready to get back into life in a way depression had robbed me of for a long time.To anyone who is considering TMS or is finding meds to be not helping much as I was, I recommend this treatment, though it is a bit of a commitment it seems very worth it.Hoping to keep improving with Dr A and his team, thanks so much.

Accepted Insurance

New Focus Addiction and Behavioral Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

I had a really disappointing experience with the office staff. They never answered any of my phone calls, and when they finally did, they blamed me for not leaving a voicemail. Despite explaining that I ran out of my medication and needed a refill, they told me I would have to wait 3 weeks for an appointment because I'm considered a new patient, even though I'm not. Dr. Aflatoon himself is great, but his staff is irresponsible and rude.

Response from the owner4 months ago
We are sorry your experience, per our policy if the patients cancel appointments or no show for appointments we cannot send medications. Also if we haven't seen you in more than six moths you are consider a new patient, I'm sure you understand. We always recommend to our patients to leave voicemails because we are a really busy office, that way we can return your phone call within 24 hours. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, you are more than welcome to schedule an appointment.

Honest review. Let s start with the downsides. Biggest complaint is staff turnover. In my six years or so of going here, I have probably seen at least six different Nurse Practitioners, and two different therapists. Having to relate your life story/history of trauma/addiction issues and build a relationship at least once a year is BEYOND annoying. Also, you ll get put on a treatment plan by one NP and work with that, then you suddenly have to transition to someone new. Just no. I did have ONE NP who actually checked medication interactions and contraindications before prescribing me a new medicine. NO medical professionals do this. I can t tell you how many drs, NP s, etc I ve seen in different fields who have prescribed me two meds at once which can have severe interactions when taken together, or prescribed me something which could have severe, even FATAL, interactions with meds I was currently taking. Luckily, I did my OWN online research before starting any of those. I wish I had done my own research on prescriptionopiate pain killers and benzodiazepenes TWENTY YEARS ago when my drs started handing the stuff out to me like candy. Dr after dr kept prescribing with NO warning about addiction potential, withdrawals, permanent damage, etc. Which is how I ended up here . Anyway, back to New Focus.Your best bet at not being shuffled between multiple providers is to get an appointment with Dr. Aflatoon himself. But be ready to wait at least an hour to be seen. Also, do your own research about medication interactions and whether a new prescription will react badly with a pre-existing health condition. (Sadly, a problem NOT unique to Dr. A). As for Dr. A, he seems like he really knows his stuff and tries to work with you, but he s so overbooked that I often just feel like I m shuffled in long enough for him to send my scripts and then shuffled back out. I do give him props for being willing to try different treatments for my anxiety and depression. Current therapist Nicole is nice, but I think I need a CBT-based therapist. Overall, I have mixed feelings. This is not the worst place or the best place I ve been. It does beat having to go somewhere daily, and it s nice to have the dual treatment aspect.
