Advice 1) plan on 10am admittance. No matter the agreement ) 2)make sure feni is tested on arrival. most drugs contain traces. overlooked even though mentioned to nurse. A.K.A squirrel caught this and tried hardest to get proper treatment including medication to aid in such a serious detox) next day ignored by nurse. Informed doctors (not squirrel)were needed for such.. In pain (this detoxing addict )went A-wall w/confusion,extreme pain from feni detox. This A- walled friend mentioned gain the skills to keep the tiger caged. He can be released at any time. Unfortunately in this case the wrong time. Review REVISED:2 days later removing 5 stars + many positives. As now Kaiser reason given by MVF for termination failed to attend meetings that protocol demands. failed to partake in his prescribed medication(diazepam) these 2 statements are so untrue it s appalling!truths added hoping safety first for all. unbelievable to report to insurance the unwillingness to attend meetings. (Told 3 day leeway regarding meetings & classes as detox can be difficult). Upon admission attended meeting anyways w/premise of making lemonade when served lemons desire to share. Days prior told by head management 3:00pm or earlier ok & upon admission ridiculed and belittled. Told in notes you personally told me 10am and your inability to follow through shows your commitment is lacking. Along with Your agitation xtra staff now needed upon your arrival. Staying committed 1st meeting cut off by staff deeming sharing this info is inappropriate although premises of meeting Lemonade when given lemons wake to bell 1st day assuming breakfast. Same staff during nursing intake states oh your Matt! With no mention back of her name & stern look walks away. Now next day mugging him opens door to ask why He is not heading to meeting? She states if he was serious he would attend. Knowing 3 day detox rules,he ignores jab, grabs muffin & heads to his room. Next day: upon speaking w/a.k.a squirrel ( give this dude a raise. keenly talented at his job) w/simple acupuncture test suspects feni detox coming on.as Am assured by squirrel the proper meds will be provided in morning by nurse. In morning nurse has no knowledge and expresses this usual testing procedure was missed upon arrival due to absent staff. (Although mentioned 13 or 14 prior test s contained feni on consumed drugs on streets) In Extreme pain and duly noted(Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead band died in the facility just over the mountain side of such same complications in 1996 )we made clear to ALL STAFF this pertinent info. Hence completely shocked the failure to partake in meds prescribed was used is far from truth & given as reason for early termination of patient. And honestly could of ended in lawsuits or even worse health complications extensive as the unfortunate Jerry (in my belief greatest and kindest guitar player of all times.)The Valium they prescribe was taken but by no means the usual sole meds distributed in such instance. Nurse explained usual testing for feni was overlooked due absence of usual nurse nullifying my ability for proper meds. My knowledge witch also correlated with hers:( was 3 or 4 days late )the existence of substance would no longer be existent therefore irrelevant. Now experiencing much pain:after following protocol (yet belittling words for either trying to share and or missing un- mandatory meeting (due to misdiagnosed and untreated detox.) I must say SHAME ON WHOM ever misinformed Kaiser of his failure to attend meetings and disregard prescribed meds I thought my friends ego was big? Your failure to follow usual protocol and allow staff to belittle my friend during such times. Not stopping there but out of spite misinforming Kaiser of reason for termination now affecting their decision of future help.( what termination he left on own accord) this admitted misdiagnosis of such a deadly drug is not only so dangerous, appalling & untasteful this 5 star review would receive a goose egg if possible. Take head. Life s depend on it.

This place is not handicap accessible. Several residents and myself were told not to help me with my walker. At least we could smoke but no cell phones. Go to your local hospital and ask for options. I left MVF after a week. Was charged for rides to emergency room at local hospital as my ankles kept swelling due to no ramps or provisions for my walker.

Accepted Insurance

Mountain Vista Farm works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab provides intensive treatment for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Unlike outpatient drug rehab, clients receiving inpatient care reside at the facility for the duration of the program. The length of stay may range from two weeks to 18 months or more, depending on the client's needs and the program's design. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober living homes in California offers an intermediate sober environment that has less structure than inpatient rehab but more than typical home environments. This makes it a good option for those who have concerns about transitioning back to the "real world" after treatment. Residents can typically live at the halfway house as long as they want, if they are willing to follow house rules. These may include a curfew, chores, and maintaining a job.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive form of outpatient treatment where clients meet during the day and return home in the evening. PHP treatment doesn't require 24-hour care and often serves as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down after a residential program. With PHP treatment, you can receive daily support for 6 to 8 hours which includes evidence-based therapies and medication management. The cost of PHP treatment typically varies but averages 90 days.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
During the first phase of recovery – detox – it is crucial to have 24-hour clinical care in California. This care provides constant monitoring in order to ensure your safely and comfort as you progress through the withdrawal process for drug or alcohol addiction. Licensed professionals prescribe medications to treat withdrawal symptoms and provide frequent monitoring to ensure your safely as addictive toxins leave your system.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Mountain Vista Farm’s team has provided a safe withdrawal experience for thousands of clients who have needed detox from alcohol and drugs, including opiates (heroin and prescription opiates such as Vicodin and Oxycontin,) methamphetamine, marijuana, and prescription drugs, such as benzodiazepines (Ativan, Xanax, Valium.) It encourages their detox clients to know that the majority of their staff understands the withdrawal process from their own personal experience. If you would more information, please see our extensive information about alcohol and drug addiction.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in California is a method that therapists often use for the effective treatment of substance use disorders. It is based on the principle that substance abuse stems from unhelpful ways of thinking and patterns of behavior, which can be changed by helping the individual learn better ways of coping.

While participating in dialectical behavior therapy in California, you'll focus on four key areas of skill development: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. Treatment includes weekly individual and group sessions.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

For clients who are struggling with ambivalence toward change, motivational interviewing in California can help strengthen their commitment to change. Using a conversational method, the therapist helps you explore your motivations and empowers you to make the changes you desire.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation. At Mountain Vista Farm Clients’ families are encouraged to participate fully in their weekly Family Program, which includes a lecture series, introduction to community supports for families and a confidential process group.

The woman that did my intake assessment asked all of the intrusive questions in a very insensitive way and gave inappropriate and honestly kind of offensive responses. It blew my mind when she had to ask another person in the background what and how to do things. Is that not WILDLY unprofessional? Then she said she had to go talk to her boss about wether or not I would be accepted? Why am I not just speaking directly with whoever makes the decisions?? Who is this lady that knows a bunch of personal information about me now? If that was an accurate representation of this facility as a whole then I am beyond grateful to be going elsewhere.

Mountain Vista Farmsis an exceptional facility that has played a pivotal role in my sobriety journey. The staff members, including Nancy, Nikki, Colette, Ron, Earl, Chef Brian, and his Sous Chef have been instrumental in my recovery. Nancy, my counselor, provided invaluable guidance and support throughout my time at the facility. Ron, Collete, and Earl (favorite counselors) created a welcoming and nurturing environment that fostered personal growth and healing. The culinary team, led by Chef Brian prepared delicious and nutritious meals that contributed to my overall well-being. Really disappointed with the staff except Ron. They billed for more days than my son stayed there effectively kicked him out when he wanted and needed to stay because " he can't stay, we have other clients coming in." He attends the after meetings and his phone does not work there and so called and said not sure if he was waiting for me to pick him up and Terry said to me, he is not a client here anymore. Wow. Really very rude.

Response from the owner1 year ago
At Mountain Vista Farm, we prioritize the well-being and recovery journey of each individual who comes to us seeking help. We deeply regret that your son's stay did not meet your expectations and that there were misunderstandings with our billing process. We are also deeply sorry for any inconvenience caused to your son during his stay at our facility. Our primary goal is to support our clients on their path to recovery. We value your son's well-being and understand the importance of providing a nurturing environment for his recovery journey. Regarding the phone issue, we acknowledge the significance of communication and connection with loved ones during the recovery process. We are currently working on improving our phone services to ensure that our clients can stay in touch with their families while participating in our programs. Your concerns have been taken seriously, and we are using your feedback as an opportunity to make necessary improvements. We appreciate your understanding of our commitment to delivering the best possible care to our clients.

Mountain Vista Farm offers an excellent recovery program and detox support for those who need that. The counseling staff are very supportive and knowledgeable. The food is exceptional, healthy and abundant. The location in the countryside makes for a retreat like setting. Nice places to get some healthy exercise: walking track around the meadow, pool for laps (unheated), gym (basic and not new equipment) and a steep hill to climb and get some real cardio plus an amazing view of the Sonoma hills. The admin staff are very helpful and efficient. I would say there are two complaints that I have and many others in my group shared: there is no functional AC in the large group room and during warm/hot weather-this makes for a very uncomfortable group room for many hours of the day! The other major complaint is that the chairs in the group room are cheap and horrible! Given how many folks in early recovery suffer from work injuries (backs, knees, etc)-a decent chair to sit in for up to 10 hours a day is critical!! Not sure why they don't invest in decent chairs!!! If they improved these two areas-the program would go to the next level!

I only stayed here for 3 days, because they allow a "Large BOOMBOX" in the client's common area with loud music being played of music I and others preferred not to listen to.Having PTSD, I informed management of the reason I was going to leave, and they did "nothing" about the loud music and Boombox!A Rehabilitation Center with a BOOMBOX...Really!?

My son was in desperate need of rehab from alcohol. I read the reviews on MVF before admitting him and was a little skeptical because of some of the most negative reviews. We decided to try them anyway and I am so very happy we did. They are an incredible working team of professionals who do actually care. My son came home a different person who was educated and knowledgeable about his condition and has a much brighter outlook on his life now. He knows it s not going to be easy and he knows he has a lot of work to do on himself, but he is more confident and positive than I have ever seen him. This is all thanks to the hard work and dedication of the staff at MVF, and I want to thank each and every one of them from the bottom of my heart!
