My husband was hospitalized twice, unfortunately, at this hospital. The people who work at this hospital in the mental health unit are so rude it's beyond believable. I went there once to sign in on the unit and mentioned that there wasn't a pen available and the woman said to me, and I quote: "well you'll just have to wait". My time is valuable as Not only was I coming there to visit him but I also have working hours and I could not believe this abject rudeness and unprofessional response. My husband was treated abysmally in this place. It was so obnoxious that I ended up having to employ the assistance of a friend of his who had a very prominent position in the New Rochelle community and one of his cousins who was a police officer from Florida to write letters to try to get him extricated from this Hospital. The head of the mental health unit complied finally after seeing those letters and told me that he would agree to have my husband transferred. He ended up being transferred to St Vincent's Hospital in Harrison where he recovered in a few weeks. I am disgusted with the treatment that my husband received here + their rudeness and reverse racism. I took a picture only of my husband and 0 other patient once for his cousin and the man who was an aide who was in the room called Security on me. No one else was in the picture but my husband so I think that this policy and this treatment is and I'm going to say this... "reverse racism". They were an all black staff other than a few MDs and the social worker and clearly they didn't like whites. I think they should be ashamed of themselves for their abject rudeness and poor treatment of both my husband and me as a visitor. If I could give a 0 star rating I definitely would.

Came to this hospital with chest pain. Waited 5 hours to just be discharged. Doctr and nurse didn t come to check on me not once. Didn t offer me anything. Staff on duty was laughing at my situation and no bed side manner. Still with no understanding of what going on. Dr. Sengal K Alazar MD. lied on my discharge papers. All in all one of the worst experiences I ve had with hospitals.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in New York occurs when family members and friends lovingly confront someone with a substance use disorder. The goal of this confrontation is to motivate the person to seek treatment. Loved ones point out how the person's destructive behavior is affecting them in hopes that they will agree to get help. Most inpatient rehab facilities offer intervention services that can help families walk through this process step by step.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
For many different stages and therapies offered during addiction treatment, it's essential to offer 24-hour clinical care in New York. often involves medication treatment for drug or alcohol detox. The withdrawal symptoms experienced during detox can be dangerous, but having medical experts on-site around the clock means someone is always there to step in and provide emergency medical care when and if it is ever needed.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox involves weaning your body off of addictive substances in a medically supervised environment. If you've become dependent on alcohol and/or drugs, quitting on your own can be uncomfortable and even dangerous. In medically assisted detox, a team of licensed medical professionals will help manage potential withdrawal symptoms, ensuring that you're as safe and comfortable as possible. This process typically takes about 5-7 days, although the length will depend on your individual needs.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

As you recover from addiction, eating the right foods will help you heal and build your health for long term sobriety. Nutrition therapy teaches you about the nutrition your body needs and how to eat the right foods to support your recovery.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Had a great experience at Montefiore Mt Vernon s ER. I passed out at a restaurant and brought there to be checked out. The nurses were very kind and professional. They asked many questions about what happened and how I was feeling. The doctor was excellent. The technicians were great and I didn t wait long for anything to be done. Everyone took great care of me and I was thankful for their care.

If I could put 0 stars, I would. I m newly pregnant & this hospital led me to believe that I had miscarried. Told me that they didn t see a baby on my ultrasound and didn t hear a heartbeat at all. I followed up with my OB a couple days later and there was a healthy baby and loud heartbeat. I wanna sue. Horrendous service, they don t care about people.

If you can avoid this place make sure to do so. We had my sibling admitted who was posting suicidal thoughts on social media. We were waiting in the waiting room for 4 hours to speak to the doctor and let them know what s going on and instead of coming out to speak to us when we re directly dealing with this, the doctor decides to call a cousin who was not directly involved. The doctor spoke to my cousin to help evaluate my sibling that we were concerned about and proceeds to tell our cousin that he believes we are being vindictive. So now the doctor is calling us vindictive after trying to get help for my sibling. And I asked the doctor to come out and speak to us and he refused and told us to go home. These are definitely not the kinds of doctors we need and this country needs to do a better job at making sure not anyone can become a doctor in this country. Dr Edward Lathan is a pathetic useless careless scumbag doctor. To call family that cares about someone vindictive. I m not gonna wait for something to happen to my sibling to take action. I m gonna call a malpractice attorney before something happens and if it does then blood will be on your hands for discharging someone who is mentally unstable. I have screenshots from the last month and he never asked me for anything. A pathetic emergency room doctor is evaluating patients when he has no business doing that since he has zero experience in psychiatry.

This is literally the worst Hospital ever! I bought my wife here to the Emergency Room because she was having trouble breathing and she has been there for 6 hours with no type of response or direct help. The doctors more so attend the drug addicts before they help the real sick ppl. This is one Hospital that needs a 1000% percent restaffing. This is crazy how they just waste nothing but time and money. We have a 8 month baby and I have to get the baby dressed to come here and try and speak with the doctor @2am in the morning.

This place is horrendous for those who are sent to the North Wing. It s for patients who have mental problems and they treat us like dirt. If the hospital doesn t have the staff and hours for the employees, the patients suffer and we are forced to be in our rooms without access to TV. The nurses do don t attend us at all and refuse to leave the office to help us. The social workers there are despicable. They don t do their jobs properly and leave early to avoid the patients. The 2 doctors there hide in their office and only speak to patients for 5 minutes and disappear. They forced patients to lay down in bed and injected them with sleeping medication. Never send anyone to this hospital
