Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

medicare iconElectroconvulsive Therapy

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

transcranial iconTranscranial Magnetic Stimulation

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive way of stimulating the brain in order to help with symptoms of depression. TMS uses elecromagnetic coils to deliver magnetic pulses to the brain, which can improve a patient's mood and ease depression. It's often used when other depression treatments haven't worked.

I received an excellent delivery service from the hospital staff. However some customer service representatives from the billing department is aweful. I have called several times to understand some items listed on my bills but they were not able to explain to me why i got charged for those services. They kept giving me other department numbers to call and other department told me billing department need explain to me. One of billing service representatives hung up on me TWICE over the phone and THREATENED me verbally by saying to they will send my bills to collection. This is very unprofessional. I'm actively trying to understand the bills I can pay but have been treated like this. They should train their people better to answer billing questions.

On Wednesday August 28 I went to visit a dear friend who was in the Ackerman Pavilion after being moved from ICU to palliative care. Unfortunately I arrived too late but was still able to say my goodbye.I want to thank the nurse tech that saw me sitting by the elevator bank crying. She asked if I was ok and I nodded yes. She returned a few minutes later with a box of tissues and a bottle of water. I forgot to get her name but I wanted her to know how much I appreciated her kindness and compassion. She was an angel to me. This occurred around 6:30pm

The level of ignorance and mistreatment from the whole ICU staff is a disgrace, the treatment and handling of the patient is disgusting. I have to be here overnight to guard the patient it is definitely not a place I'd send my worst enemy too. The patient is battered and bruised from inappropriate handling. Being used like a piece of meat on a cutting board. Slashed on face and arm. Definitely working on getting the patient into another hospital after Labor Day. Thank God for cell phones and cameras.

The staff of the MRI Department, working during my appointment at 11:15am, August 29, 2024, were rude and snide. Making comments and hurt my spine severely, for which I am scheduled for surgery in September of 2024.

Response from the owner1 month ago

I'm only giving it 3 stars bc the doctors are great. Otherwise the ER is filthy and the person I came in with had to have surgery. So they led me to the family waiting area where I was greeted by sleeping techs with their shoes off and feet up on chairs. Hospital blankets on like they were patients and a gaggle of techs on their phones talking and laughing. Is this their break room and I made the mistake of walking in on them? I wanted to wait in peace instead I was greeted by the most unprofessional circumstances. These techs hiding up here for over an hour are suppose to be looking after our loved ones? Honestly super sickened and appalled!!

The worst hospital ever I think the only thing y all are famous for it is your good friendly, custodial staff, and your helicopter pilots.I was mistreated after a car accident and I have reasons to believe there were damages caused during the hospital visit. The female nurses grabbed my body aggressively while making fun of me one NURSE actually said did he look like that before the accident and they all laughed at meIf you don t get new nurses and staff in your hospital, I will end up owning your hospitals because no lawyer in the world will save you from medical malpractice!I am in critical conditions according to the lawyers in the other doctors I saw after leaving the hospital to discharge was Against medical appropriate procedures, according to the law and the staff did not concisely explain the results and she threw their paper at me I could just go on and on it was a really rough night. I m lucky to be alive, but I did not expect to be treated less than a human in a Hospital I never go to by choice for reasons like this. I was wondering if the nurse had a relationship with the driver who hit me I currently have two lawyers working this accident caseI ve left two voicemails with patient experience as expected their ignoring all the calls

The only reason I'm giving three stars is because of the wonderful nurses and doctors there. The main problem with Jersey shore medical center is the kitchen. I am currently on the hospital from home program, so the kitchen is responsible for my breakfast lunch and dinner. The breakfast was wonderful. Never got lunch until 4:45 when they brought what they called my dinner. By the way the lunch was literally a chicken salad sandwich and nothing else. And the dinner looked like leftovers. One tiny piece of meat a scoop of potatoes and planks of carrots. A water, sugar-free vanilla pudding, and a fruit cup. I don't know what they're doing there, and maybe they just don't care about the patients who are doing hospital from home, but this is an ongoing thing. I have been on this program once before and literally we were having the same issues there were days I wasn't even getting food. You have an excellent hospital. With excellent nurses and doctors. But the kitchen is a hot mess. And it's completely unfair that me as a patient has to fight for a basic necessity that is given to us in the hospital.

Response from the owner2 months ago
Thank you for sharing both the positive and negative aspects of your experience with our Hospital From Home Program. It is wonderful to hear you had such a positive and warm experience with the nurses and doctors. That said, it's disappointing to learn about this recent experience with our meal service, please accept our apology. We are always looking for opportunities for improvement, and will share your feedback with our leadership team. It is appreciated that you took the time to speak with our Patient Experience Department regarding this experience.
