I've been called to come get my son twice bc he was having behavioral issues and intereupting the class....well he is there due to behavioral issues and trying to get him some help and stabilized on the right meds so why am I being called? They are transitioning to a new location so alot of changes and apparent non consistentcy which doesn't help. Staff are not focused on the children bc they have to deal with the move. His therapist just called me last week after about 4 weeks in the program to tell me she would be leaving. Nothing before then was done in regards to keeping me informed about what skills they were working on so that I could reinforce them at home. I asked for resources to be sent home and nothing was sent. My sons medication was increased and I see a slight improvement but not enough to get him back in school without having the same issues that got him there in the first place. I inquired about in patient treatment and said his behavior right now doesn't qualify him. It's so frustrating to see your child struggling and then the professionals that are getting paid and have the experience basically just provide daycare and we are back at square one. It's sad.

This place is a masterclass in witnessing unethical behavior in the behavioral health industry. They will admit literally anyone to boost their census numbers, and they refuse to discharge aggressive patients, those who are developmentally inappropriate, or too acute for outpatient services. Since I started working here, I've seen children crammed into overcrowded groups, restrained, and I've even been encouraged to "fluff" notes to extend patients' stays for financial gain.Clinical staff are left hanging with zero support. Therapists are expected to manage behaviors, provide therapy, document excessive amounts, file paperwork, conduct family sessions, and keep all charts up to date all at once. Meanwhile, management gossips and loafs around while the workload on clinicians keeps mounting. This center is more interested in packing in as many bodies as possible, regardless of appropriateness, just to make more money. Patient care and providing a safe space for children are clearly not priorities here. Avoid working here and definitely do not send your children here.

Location

Accepted Insurance

Millwood Hospital – The Excel Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. The Excel Center of Fort Worth's Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) includes three hours of daily group therapy (process groups and coping skills education groups). Treatment is available for emotional and behavioral problems related to depression, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, PTSD, and poor anger/impulse control. Treatment team meetings are held weekly with clinicians involved in the treatment of the patient.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I have a son with ADHD and disruptive mood. From the very first day of him attending this program, I instantly saw a positive change in his behavior. He has continued to progress each week.We have gone from constant temper tantrums, defiance, and destructive behavior to a very calm and well mannered child. My baby is a completely different child since attending EXCEL and I would HIGHLY recommend this center to any parent facing similar difficulties.I would also like to point out that the staff goes ABOVE and BEYOND for their clients. They have met us at every need, are very informative, always keep us updated as parents, and truly care for these kids! They went the extra mile for my child to ensure successful completion of this program. I can t thank y all enough. I m so proud of my son s progress and can t help but smile every time he utilizes his coping mechanisms. We re very satisfied and grateful for this life changing experience!

Our son was referred here. We went into the intake appointment to see if it would be a good fit. The second they found out we had tricare they slotted our son for 6 weeks because tricare pays but he was wait listed. We get the call they had a spot open and we would owe over a grand for the copay the day he started. We had just had a death in the family and could not make that work they then asked for half on the fist day and the rest as soon as possible. Very cold and uncaring to say the least. After reading the reviews I am grateful that we couldn't swing the copay. I have a feeling that this place would have done more damage then good in the long run.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The most helpful thing they offered was transportation help. I had to fight for family involvement, I had to beg for information about my very much minor child, the doctor never even tried to look at his med protocol or adjust it until I asked why he wasn't trying that to help. On top of that I found out they basically watched movies and the staff played extremely inappropriate music that is scientifically proven to aggravate certain mental health issues. I will never recommend this place to anyone. I cannot believe that a place that is supposed to help children only did everything they could do to make sure nothing helped. AND THEN BLAME THE PARENTS FOR THE PROBLEMS. Despite doing everything we can to help. It was the worst experience as far as advocating for my kid.

If I could give 10 stars I would! This program saved my child and saved our family. My child is 7 and has ADHD, ODD, Sensory Disorder, and Mood Disorder. We were referred to this program by her therapist and it has transformed my child. I was very hesitant to send her because of the reviews, but they are not a reflection of what it is like. The staff is friendly, professional and courteous. The couseling professionals (Miss Tierra) was a Godsend for us. She was honest and real with my daughter. She was firm but loving. She taught my daughter many things including self awareness, accountability, coping skills, and communication when it comes to emotions. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who's child is lashing out and you as a parent need support.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would, My parents brought my little 11 year old brother here after being in the hospital for 3 days cause of anxiety. He lasted less than 2 weeks and they kicked him out because he was crying, he had a anxiety attack and they couldn t help. This school is supposed to make them better and my brother got worst not only did they kick him out but referred him to the hospital saying he was trying to hurt himself and others which couldn t be more far from the truth, horrible place would not recommend.

We brought our son in here in hopes he could get help, but all he got was kicked out for portraying the exact behaviors we told them he would. He was there for less than three weeks when we were told it would be a 4-6 week stay, we were told if there were issues we would get a call. We got one extra call and it was a day he was on new meds. Otherwise just the normal calls. No other warning. And apparently it was our insurance but they didn t even let us know he was out until the afternoon he was leaving. And left us with no advice on where to go from there. The therapist, Tierra Alexander (for elementary kids) knew his struggles and then just acted like he was acting up for fun. She told us he was struggling with group therapy but gave no indication he would most likely have to leave. We went here with hope to get help, all we got was medication changes, almost no warnings, and no help. Go somewhere else if you actually want any help. I would give it no stars if I could.

My 7 year old went there after his hospital stay. After only being there maybe 2 weeks they un-enrolled him and told me he needed to go back to the hospital. Yet the day before all that happened I told the nurse he wasn't sleeping and she told me that he would be seeing the doctor the next day and that he would see what our options were. Than the next day my son had a melt down and they called me to come get him, and of course when I showed up within 20 minutes he was just fine. I was pulled to the office and told he would be un-enrolled. Sad thing is, that he never even saw the doctor while there. The doctor called out that day. How is a school that is suppose to help kids with their mental health but at the first sign of that mental health problem they kick them out?!
