Feeling so let down after my last ER visit for help. I honestly felt judged, and a sense of discrimination lingered. Ever since the transition to Deaconess, it feels like the compassion I used to rely on just isn t there. Now, I m really torn about voluntarily going back for help. In a future crisis, I may be forced to handle things alone. Hoping things change, but for now, I ll stay clear and explore other ways to get the support I need.

Accepted Insurance

Memorial Hospital – Behavioral Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

dollar-outline iconFinancing available

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Let s face it this place doesn t pride themselves on healing people. They pride themselves on how many bodies they can fit in the morgue. If you re local, you ve definitely heard horror story after horror story in fact, if you ve lived here long enough, I m willing to bet YOU have your own horror story related to this hospital, because it doesn t take much to get one from this hospital. My family s latest one? As my uncle (who the ER dismissed already once earlier that day with a hand wave and an eye roll) slipped into the heart attack that inevitably took his life, his wife watched on in horror as every staff member dealing with him rushed to get a pen in his hand so he could hurry up and sign a DNR. He scribbled his name, and then a few minutes later, he was gone. What s even sadder? When sharing this story with other people that have dealt with Memorial, the number one answer we get is That doesn t shock me at all coming from Memorial .The silver lining about this hospital is that they re fantastic with dealing with strokes. Of course, I can t credit Memorial with that honor at all; THAT credit goes to Louisville and the network of neurologists they call and have save lives through a robot! Essentially, the ONE THING they re good for is calling better doctors from another state. So if you re having a stroke, you re in luck! Anything else? Prepare to sign your own death warrant, I guess.

There was a time when I would have never even thought about going any place else, but memorial. I m not sure what s happening there now, but they certainly have lost that customer service that they used to have. I ve had to leave there for oncology reasons trying to get test and things done there has become an issue as far as bloodwork and other things so I feel like I probably will never ever go back.

I was here in the mental health department and their was no caring at all !! I still think about the days I was there..it has become a nightmare for me. It was the worst hospital I could ever imagined. And feel like I needed to share.Idid get a phone call about my experience because I did want someone to know how bad it was for me..At one time one of the nurse's told me I could not have anymore numbers from my cell which I was denied one of the rules I guess.she told me no more..who remembers any numbers from family or freinds ? We use our cell phones that are programed in our telephone. Everyday I think of this experience and it still upsets me. They were suppose to be professionals that cared but they were far from it. So think twice before going to this facility for your mental health.

This is the most horrible hospital! So many horror stories from people that went there and do NOT go for mental health help! You can NOT just stop someone's meds, which they did, that they've been on for over 15 years! This place almost cost me my husband! Thankfully I got him to a different hospital and they got him started back on his meds and did change one med. The therapists don't act like they care. This place completely lacks intelligent, caring staff. I'd give it 0 stars if I could.

This is, by far, nursing care at its worst. I ve been a nurse for 25 years and have worked with some bad nurses, but Memorial Hospital takes the prize. My mother went to the emergency room for nausea, vomiting, and severe abdominal pain. When I arrived, her IV bag was at chest level and not flowing. I had to move her IV pole so she would get her fluid bolus. I also had to clamp the tubing once it was finished because no one came in and checked on her. They had to stick her five times to get an IV and at that, it was infiltrated. So she had a knot in her arm and was stuck another time to get an IV placed. She was throwing up and in pain, so I called to request pain and nausea medicine, which took an extended amount of time and I had to ask a second time. The nurse did not even wipe off her IV hub with alcohol before injecting her. This is nursing 101, not rocket science. She also pushed the medication way faster than it should be given. My mom s blood pressure was elevated and her alarm was going off constantly. No one ever came in to check it or silence the machine. When I went to the nurses station to inform her nurse that she was throwing up, there was not an empty seat at the desk. There was probably 15 people sitting around doing nothing. But when it was time for my mom to be discharged, the nurse was Johnny on the spot. She asked my 75 year old mother, who had been vomiting all night if she could walk. My mom said she thought she could, so the nurse took out her IV and told her she was discharged. She had no idea that she meant walk all the way out to the parking lot and into the car. She did not even offer to get her A wheelchair to push her out. I had to help my mom get dressed, pull my car up, find a wheelchair and wheel my mom out. As we were leaving, the nurses station was full of staff members, including her nurse and not one person offered to help us. This is a poor excuse for a hospital and I will never let my mom go back there again. We will take the extra hour and drive to Evansville. Memorial ER you need to do an overhaul of your staff. They were awful!

This place always gets it wrong and believes everything is "viral" or "all in your head," until you go and get a 2nd opinion elsewhere and it's much worse than you initially thought. I'd give zero stars if I could. If you want better medical care, just head to straight to Evansville and don't waste your time coming here.

Hospital made my mother death extremely drawn out and traumatic for our entire family. Only 2 of her nurses showed her any kind of respect during her last few days.Doctor Potter was absolutely amazing, treated my mom with dignity and great care, while the other attending doctors wouldn t even talk/ update us on my mother or ensure us of our concerns.Do better.
