About Labette Center for Mental Health Services, Inc.

The Labette Center for Mental Health Services is an outpatient mental health and drug addiction clinic in Parsons, Kansas. Adults and children can receive a wide range of services pertaining to their mental health needs. Treatment takes place in individual, group and family sessions. They also offer medication management.

They’re provisionally certified by the state of Kansas as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic. This means they have a host of innovative outpatient services and intensive case management for those who need it.

One service that stands out is their gambling addiction program. Gambling treatment can be hard to come by, and people who are ready for treatment may not have money to afford it. This program is especially attractive since it’s available at no cost.

Other highlights include their range of mental health and substance use services that are targeted specifically towards the needs of veterans.

They accept most major commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. They don’t turn anyone away due to lack of ability to pay.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Clients exiting detox, stepping down from inpatient rehab, or at an increased risk of relapse often enroll in intensive outpatient programs (IOP). These programs offer high-level support, including multiple therapeutic sessions per week. Clients typically receive between nine and 20 hours of treatment weekly. Intensive outpatient rehabs generally offer an array of services, including individual, group, and family counseling and recovery education. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is widely available for those in alcohol and/or opioid recovery.

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients in a rehab aftercare program typically have completed intensive inpatient treatment but may be receiving outpatient care. Many have concluded outpatient treatment as well and are in the maintenance phase of their recovery. Rehab aftercare services are designed to provide a full continuum of care as clients apply their recovery skills at home, in the workplace, and in the community. Clients typically receive peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step recovery program induction, among other services.

12-step icon12-Step

12 step programs feature peer coaching and spiritual development to support participants' sustained sobriety. Most programs are non-denominational and religious affiliation isn't required. Participants engage in regular 12 step meetings, which are open to the public, anonymous, and free. Meetings can be accessed night and day in most communities. Self-selected sponsors provide one-on-one mentoring as participants work through the 12 steps, which foster healing, understanding, accountability, and acceptance.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Multiple intervention services are available to families who are facing addiction. Intervention specialists can help families plan and carry out a drug intervention in Kansas. They can also help families identify behaviors and family dynamics that are contributing to the problem. The expert can guide families in healthier communication patterns. This professional can also help each family member with their own recovery, regardless of how the addicted individual responds to the family's intervention efforts.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

No consistency, med docs and case managers constantly quitting, no communication between case managers and therapists or med docs, constant cancellation of appointments or will reschedule appointments without notice and not let you know until you get a no show letter, The list could go on and on.

I am disgusted at the care my mother had at this facility. If they try to place you under the care of Psychiatrist Cheryl Gore, please, RUN. I am not done perusing this issue. We are fortunate to have found care at Prairie View in Newton, KS and saved my mother s life. The irresponsible use of medications and lack of responsibility is astounding to me. I post this to warn others, for serious issues, please take your loved ones elsewhere.

I cannot comment on the actual services provided by this agency. However, I have called and spoken with the front desk in regards to clients already receiving services. Every time I call to request information, I am greeted by warm staff who are pleasant to speak with and provide excellent assistance to whatever my inquiry was. I have never had a negative experience with the front desk staff at this agency.

Won't help, just want to control people, will refuse you meds if you do stuff they don't like, love treating people like children, -10/10 would never recommend to anyone ever looking for real mental health care.
