Told the crisis team, my therapist, their mobile crisis team that comes to your actual home, told them all I wanted to kill myself and that I had been actively hurting myself. Did anything happen? Nope. I actually stopped going to my therapy appointments after and nothing happened. These people didn t know if I followed through. They don t care. I have a severe medical condition that prevents me from being able to go outside and basically enjoy my life. The crisis team person JANET guilt tripped me about my suicidal thoughts since I have a family and told me I should just go outside. What a joke. I felt worse when she left than I did before. If you re trapped with KBBH I feel for you and hope you get the help you need. These people aren t capable though.

Accepted Insurance

Klamath Basin Behavioral Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

This place is an absolute joke. I used to be a client of theirs and they never bothered to put me on a mood stablizing medication that I am currently taking which is Abilify. I had experienced them cancelling appointments and them scheduling appointments at like 5:30 when they were closed. I was never able to use strategies that were telling me, as I thought they were bleak and not clear in teaching me. So glad I'm no longer with this joke of a place.

Claim they care about mental health, yet almost impossible to get in with them unless you're willing to call everyday or on certain days and times to ask if there is a spot to get you in, I called several times on the days and times they told me to call, and every single time was told they had no availability to get me in and to keep calling. Months of trying to get in and I couldn't. Better off looking for something in Medford or a different clinic. The mental healthcare system is an absolute joke, then people wonder why the suicide rates are high? They don't actually care about people, they care about their paychecks. If they truly cared, they wouldn't have people having to jump hoops for months to be seen. Clowns.

Monica is amazing. Best therapist that I have ever seen. She helped me through a really tough time last summer. I felt like I could trust her and that she was really honest with the dynamics of my situation. Monica is truly a gem and a blessing. Thank you.

They will cancel, reschedule, abandon your every need for literally anything. I was scheduled 5 times and seen once (2 months apart) they have no availability and push you off to the lowest bidder. If I could give zero stars I would. This place is a joke and should be held accountable.

Lack of follow-up and lack of enough staff to actually help when somebody needs the help. Can't seem to keep you with one counselor and you end up starting over hard to build a trusting relationship when you keep getting passed around.

They provide Amazing support and have drop in appointments for emergency. They also have adult life long learning classes as well as a day center for high school students. Also if you have a therapist that doesn t seem to be working for you, you can change at any time and they fully support this as everyone has different needs and personalities

Don't waste you time here. Sadly, most people on OHP/CHA don't seem to have a choice. I was a patient here for almost 4 years. Goals were never set, despite my having some and wanting more. Therapy was like talking to a wall - I didn't get any useful guidance on how to deal with my stressors. My therapist really dropped the ball on supporting me through a major medical/legal hurdle. The one group I attended was disorganized and not useful - I went sporadically just for the socialization aspect. Sadly, KBBH is still the best provider I had since getting stuck on Oregon Health Plan in 2017.

For children's health, they only offer very little appointments, only schedule from 730 to 745 a.m. and if you can't get in within the 60 days of their impossible schedule, they cancel on you. It's jarring to have this just one facility for mental health with literally no support for initial treatment and no exit care for the treatment school. They promise you complete transitional care and then the therapist abandons the child after transitioning to a regular school, despite assuring the parent there will be services. Multiple parents have told me the same thing and I was worried, but they assured me it wasn't the case and here we are. Never received the family therapy that they told us they provide, multiple cancelation and reschedules and never had one appointment. The people that were in charge of in home transitions had left and there was no one to provide in home support, so my child ended up on a wait list for teo years and was just taken off the list for zero reason. They did not follow up with transitional treatment for my oldest, and have zero appointments available for initial treatment. This place is such a disappointment for the mental health of our children...

They are like family to me.. My life is so much better because of my involvement in both the .mentalhealth side and the SUDS side program.. I have genuine love and appreciation for my counselors and the classes to improve my transition to a happier healthier me.. The counselors here take a genuine interest in the health of the individual and the community the individual lives in..
