About Gosnold Treatment Center Inpatient Detoxification

Providing medically monitored withdrawal treatment, the 50-bed Gosnold Treatment Center in Falmouth, Massachusetts, is an inpatient medical stabilization and detoxification facility. They help clients withdraw from a range of drugs in an effort to reduce discomfort and prevent complications. For four to eight days, clients will follow a medical detoxification and stabilization program.

Their clinical team of doctors, nurses, and therapists oversees the care. They are all skilled and knowledgeable in addiction treatment. Patients go through a psychosocial evaluation during detoxification to determine their treatment needs. Patients attend individual and group counseling education on addiction and an introduction to 12 step programs.

These sessions give them a better understanding of the type and severity of their addiction.
Here, they use FDA approved medications to help decrease symptoms and mitigate the possibility of complications to prevent clients from needing more intensive medical attention. Until the withdrawal symptoms stop, they continue to use these drugs. This is a process called medication assisted treatment, or MAT, and usually takes anywhere from three to seven days. In addition to having a primary counselor assigned to them, each patient also has access to a two person clinical team.

Your primary counselor will help you make sense of your treatment set and achieve your treatment goals. They’ll also collaborate with you to create a thorough continuing care plan that will sustain your continued healing. Every week, counselors who work in clinical teams lead seven small process groups with their patients.

The two full time case managers they have on staff are in charge of carrying out the comprehensive continuing care plan you and your counselor created. To guarantee that your continuing care plan is in place before you graduate from the program, the case managers will collaborate with you, your counselor and other internal and external providers.

They provide a continuing care plan to assist patients in maintaining the gains they made during their detoxification course. Patients are more likely to maintain their recovery when they continue their treatment. To ascertain the optimal recovery support after discharge their multidisciplinary team meets regularly to review the individual needs of each patient.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is recommended for certain patients who do not require a medically managed detoxification or are continuing treatment after discharge from an inpatient treatment program. IOP is an intensive and structured treatment program designed to help patients understand, develop, and enhance critical recovery concepts, such as: recovery management and relapse prevention, post-acute withdrawal syndrome and twelve-step orientation.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Additionally, they offer Partial Hospitalization Program. PHP is an adult (psychiatric day treatment service that runs 5 days a week. Patients receive individualized, focused and goal-oriented treatment to help facilitate stabilization of symptoms in a less restrictive, non-inpatient environment. Services include intensive group therapy including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychoeducation and expressive therapy.

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Addiction is a highly complex problem, and drug rehab in Massachusetts is often necessary to address it. These programs treat physical, mental, and relational issues that are involved. Treatment empowers individuals to manage these issues without the use of drugs.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation. The dual diagnoses group focus is to develop healthy coping skills to live substance-free and manage emotional symptoms.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Each group is facilitated by a Gosnold clinician who guides the group discussion.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Four principles are key to motivational interviewing in Massachusetts. First, the therapist offers empathy for the client's feelings and experiences. Second, they encourage the client to believe in themselves and their ability to change. Third, the therapist refrains from imposing their own viewpoints. Lastly, the therapist helps the client identify discrepancies in their circumstances and future goals.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I ve been here 4 times, clearly I didn t get it right the first 3 lol. I ve been to a lot of places and this is by far the best and only place I ll ever go to when I need help. The rooms are clean, bathrooms are clean, the food is great. Juice and snacks between meals along with cereal, bagels ect..The staff is wonderful, caring, fun &can relate to you. with a few exceptions, for some people it s just a paycheck. The groups are helpful and all around a safe place to be. N/a and A/A meeting every night. If you or your loved one need help don t hesitate. But call ahead because it can take a week to get a bed. Anyone saying bad things about this place are homeless junkies that don t really want to stop using, they are just there for 3 meals and a bed while they can get it. Everyone who wants to quit this is the place to go.

For all of you that's saying negative things about gosnnold....you have to remember a couple things....the big one is ...your in detox. .it's going to suck no matter what...there counselors and RA's.... of course they should be there to help you..but just remember this is your recovery...and if your ready and willing you will do whatever it takes...if you think your counselor is ignoring you...don't stop knocking on their door until they help you.....but you also have to remember they are human too....and you are not the only client they have.....I've personally been to gosnold a few times...as well as many others....and this is where I refer anyone that asks me where they should go...and God forbid I need to go again ....that is where I would go 100% ....just remember it's not a hotel....and your detoxing of stuff that really screws up your mind and body very bad...just wanted to say that...hope everyone stays safe

This place is okay, There is some great staff and great nurses but the facility itself is dirty and its so loud all the time, you can't get any sleep and when your sick you need sleep, when you first get there they stuff you in a back room with 10 people and the nurses station is in the same room where they talk all night and wake you up extremely early when they all start coming in or they are coming in to get you up to do blood work at 7am when you're extremely sick, You have to share 1 bathroom and a disgusting shower with 10 people. When you do get a room you still have to share the bathroom with up to 5 people and when you're that sick the last thing u want to do is be puking in front of others and all the surrounding doors slam open and close all night in the halls so you can't get any sleep. When you wait for meds you have to wait in a crowded hallway and when you're literally feeling like death the last thing you wanna do is be around people waiting around when you barley have enough energy to stand..The community room is so dirty I don't think I've ever seen them clean the couches or chairs. Everything smells like cigarettes and people constantly leave drinks around and spill coffee everywhere. Some of the groups are good and Some of the counselors are nice but others play favorites. I've seen them embarrass the patients in front of others for petty reasons. They don't even let you call home unless your counselor is there which isn't much because they have alot of people they need to see during the day so you don't get any time. I used to like this place but recently it's gone down hill.

The staff at Beth Isreal misled my wife and I about Gosnold when she was admitted. They isolate the patients for the first week, refuse to communicate, and most of the staff are untrained in handling mental illness. It s a facility designed for neglect/abuse. I ve been a patient advocate for 6 years and I ve never found another place that s THIS bad. Don t send someone here if you actually care about them.
