Why Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ has a 3.7% score overall really puzzles me. Why? I work as a traveling nurse there. I haven't been there long, but they are on point with customer care, making sure all nurses are updated and functioning according to the policies, all their educators are serious and excellent at preparing the onboarding nurses, the D.O.N and Assistant Nurse Manager, MD's and various Specialty teams is serious about how the facility is being ran and making sure their patients are getting the best of care. Being in a Supervisory position at other various facilities has taught me how to tell the difference of how all these situations are handled. I attest by far, Jersey Shore Medical Hospital in Neptune, NJ has won me over. I rarely give props to anyone unless I witness OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE via the over heads. It is extremely important to have this upstanding performance amongst the overheads , as a whole. The nurses are happy there...and this is why. Great job Hackensack Jersey Shore Medical Hospital in Neptune, NJ...specifically. Thank you!

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Jersey Shore University Medical Center offers an inpatient Psychiatric Unit for those individuals with a crisis mental health issue. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives, however, the unit is designed to keep patients in the area, near their families, friends and other support systems.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in New Jersey is the process of addressing the complex issues involved with addiction. Challenges are identified and addressed through individual and group counseling. Participants learn how to manage these issues without the use of substances.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive way of stimulating the brain in order to help with symptoms of depression. TMS uses elecromagnetic coils to deliver magnetic pulses to the brain, which can improve a patient's mood and ease depression. It's often used when other depression treatments haven't worked.

This place is appalling. The er has no parking for family s with emergencies Had to park and walk all the way around the building which smells like urine to get rerouted and by the time we arrived in the er our family member had passed away. We were not greeted by anyone nor were we offered condolences by anyone except for the staff priest. Wow

The only reason why they got one star is because you can't write a review unless you hit a star. Worst experience of my life in any hospital I have ever been in and I had cervical spine surgery and they were very unprofessional I wound up getting a bloody hole in my head from a device that they say they put on your had to keep it still during surgery my sister is a surgical tech in the OR she is never seen something like that before then they had my arm wrap too tight which caused a blood clot if I did not start screaming and someone came in to help I would probably be dead I have no use for this Hospital at all good luck people

I want to shout out an amazing experience we had with a nurse in the ER last night. My 91 year old mom went in and was diagnosed with pneumonia. All of the nurses and the ER doctor were fantastic! But a special shout out to David Sookhoo, for really making sure my mom had everything she needed before I left. He saw I was afraid to go without certain things being addressed and even though she was not his actual patient, stepped in to ease my mind. Thank you, David!! You re the BEST!

The only reason for the 5 * review are the nurses & techs who cared for me in Booker Tower SHELLY, ANDREA, VICTORIA, tech s GIGI & LEROY. The cleaning & food service staff were wonderful as well. Also have to mention the sweet older woman who came and prayed with me, blessings to you all for your kindness and caring attention.Almost made up for the horrendous experience in the ER which I spent 3 days in a hallway, next to other patients. Hippa practices what a joke, I heard everyone s personal details as sure as they heard mine. I was vomiting blood less than 1 foot away from patients on both sides while in recliner, no attention to any of my needs like water, meals or the daily medications I take at home which I wasn t given even after being admitted into the ER.My husband left a 1 * review, I should do same but wanted to note the great care I received once OUT of the ER.Jersey Shore fix this, how can you treat your patients like this at their most vulnerable times of crisis.

The Emergency Room treatment is criminal! My wife is a patient now. I took her to the ER Monday evening at 7:30 PM, she had terrible pain and was vomiting blood. She was in a chair, in a tight hallway till 2:30 AM, less than a foot away from other people, vomiting in a bag. I watched as the registration cart came by to collect signatures for billing, and hippa protection of your sensitive medical info, which is a joke when you re in earshot of 20 ppl in the hallway. The registration person was also swiping credit cards, and collecting cash co-pays from the hall way dwellers. At 2:30 AM someone from admissins took us to the other side of the ER ward, where at least my wife got to lay on a gurney. She was pushed against a wall in the hallway there where we remained until 6:00 PM Wednesday night. Thats 46 hours in a hallway! No privacy, no dignity, very little humanity. She was not offered food, nor a drink. When I asked a nurse for chicken broth for my wife she said well I ll have to call somebody for that . As if it was inconvenient. It is unacceptable to treat Human Beings the way they are treated every day in that ER. The nurses all have a wartime stare, they are all in shock, unsupported by hospital admin, and beaten down by the demands of 4 times the amount of patients that they should see. In my 46?hours in the hallways of hell, I saw no suits, no administrators, no one. This is a third world country type of facility, had I not lived it, I would never have believed it. I am out of words to describe how miserable it was. And it s not just for my wife, that I am upset, there were so many others there with no one to advocate for them, no one to go out to a store to get tea for them. I am beyond sad that this is accepted practice. Once we got up to the third floor in Booker, it s like a different Universe of great nurses, techs, and doctors. For the love of God, fix this now!!!! Or close the ER and start over. It is totally unacceptable!
