Jefferson Oaks could care less about their "patients". My wife was told today, out of no where that hey they just made a business decision to not take regular psych patients anymore so they just wrote her some prescriptions and told her she doesn't have a doctor anymore. When she expressed fear and concern that her steady medication cocktail, the tools they gave her to her with her mental illness, will be completely shattered and be told to start over or having no doctor at all he said "We can't be the end all be all in medical practice" even though she did everything they asked and jumped through all hoops asked of her, of which there were many. They made sure it was aware the current "doctor" feels no sense of responsibility to his most delicate patients. Because she is his patient whether he feels fortunate for that or not. It's really concerning that any medical, or supposed medical, facility would act the manner. This place is worse than a joke.

Accepted Insurance

Jefferson Oaks Behavioral Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab gives clients a chance to focus on their recovery in a highly structured and supportive environment away from outside distractions, stressors, and addiction triggers. Clients reside at the treatment facility and engage in intensive psychotherapy, which may include individual, group, and family counseling.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient therapy is a time limited, intensive, and coordinated clinical treatment program that is an integral part of the continuum of behavioral health services. Clinical appropriateness for IOP admission is determined by a behavioral health practitioner. However, often their patients are able to refer themselves or family member in attempts to relieve some emotional stress. IOP can be used to treat moderate to severe mental stressors that are making functioning in daily life more difficult. It features intensive treatment that is more concentrated than traditional outpatient care. The format provides for medical monitoring, group, individual and family therapy. IOP participants return home in the evenings and maintain important links to their family and their community. This allows them to practice new skills that promote confidence and independence. IOP patients typically attend between 9-12 hours of therapy per week. Their sessions are from 9am to 9pm, Monday through Friday. The typical length of treatment is four to six weeks at IOP level of care, depending on the individual’s progess. Furthermore, because their programs are flexible and patient centered, they are able to transition up or down in levels of care between PHP and IOP as needed.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients enrolled in rehab aftercare programs have completed high-level treatment and are typically in the maintenance phase of their recovery, receiving customized services designed to support their sustained sobriety. Case managers and care teams typically begin to plan for the client's rehab aftercare services early in the treatment process to ensure the client's fluid reentry into their home, workplace, and community. These programs evolve as clients' needs change, and frequently include peer coaching, relapse prevention, and career counseling.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Addiction can be a very frightening thing for family members to confront. Often the family and friends of the addicted person have struggled with the question “What can I do?” and “Do I wait until my loved one hits ‘rock bottom’?” Whether it is drug addiction, alcohol addiction, gambling, food, or sex addiction, a professional interventionist plays an integral role in helping the person to develop strategies and a plan for treatment for the person in his/her life afflicted with addiction. Jefferson Oaks Behavioral Health Clinic offers highly trained and experienced intervention services in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Their goal is to educate the family and individual in hopes to help save the life that is so often at risk with the addicted persons. Jefferson Oaks Behavioral Health Clinic utilizes supportive family intervention techniques.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers an intensive, short-term rehab option for individuals who don't require 24-hour support. PHP treatment can be an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a "step-down" option from hospitalization or a residential program. Typically, it requires you to meet a minimum of 6-8 hours a day for an average of 90 days. Services provided in PHP treatment often include relapse prevention strategies, medication management, individual and group therapy, and other behavioral therapy interventions.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
The first step in the addiction recovery process involves flushing all addictive drugs and alcohol from your body while under 24/7 medical supervision. Known as a medically assisted detox, this level of care takes into account that quitting your drug of choice cold turkey can be very dangerous once you've become physically dependent. In a medical detox, your team of medical professionals helps to ensure your safety and comfort. Most people transition to an inpatient treatment or maintenance program upon completion.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

While each drug rehab in Louisiana offers unique elements, recovery support often follows a similar pattern. Detox is followed by inpatient and/or outpatient care, then aftercare support is provided once the participant completes the initial program.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

If you are struggling with motivation to change, motivational interviewing is designed to help. This method typically involves one or two sessions with a therapist. The technique helps you understand your motivations and empowers you to make changes to reach your goals.

In Louisiana, trauma therapy helps you explore the impact that a traumatic event has had on your life. You can experience emotional and physical responses if you witness or experience a traumatic event. Your therapist guides you in processing the trauma and then developing coping strategies that improve your quality of life.

Couples therapy focuses on helping the couple develop skills that will improve the relationship. These include communication, conflict resolution, and anger management. Couples also identify dysfunctional behaviors and work to eliminate them.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Recreational therapy offers you a holistic approach to drug and alcohol addiction treatment. It integrates activities like hiking, art, and team sports to improve your mental and physical health. These activities give you an emotional outlet, help reduce your stress, and fosters social connections as you rebuild your life and maintain sobriety.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

The attention they gave me is not adequate, they are very rude and do not realize that people with mental problems need a better deal.

Me and my parents were going through a rough patch my senior year and we didn't know how to fix it and they thought sending here would help, i dont know why there was nothing wrong with me but its not like this place couldve told me that. From the begging it all felt so fake, the talks the words they said it all felt like re read dialogue, soul less almost, i actually felt worse attending the classes and one on ones its funny cus one day we just watched movies didnt even talk. Total joke, were rude, tried to scare you with drug tests , ha, yeah right, and the price was insane!!! i actually made fun of my parents for paying for that cus it was such a waste of time. If someone you know is truly going through something and you don't know what to do please dont send them here!!!Total airheads only worried about a paycheck

Got a call on my birthday. It's taken months bur this facility and its medical director, Dr. Khan are being investigated for 2 violations of HIPAA against me.There are a lot better facilities that will be a lot more thorough than spending 15 minutes with a patient to make a judgement call without obtaining any necessary information about that patient's medical situation. I am in need of surgery. This doctor became so concerned after getting a subpoena for my medical records after he behaved this way he panicked.Know your patient.

I was incorrectly diagnosed by the staff psychiatrist and given medication which was detrimental to my actual diagnosis. Also unbelievably overpriced for the therapy and care that is offered.

This place helped me a lot. I stayed for three months doing this program. Everything was great until the follow ups with the psychiatrist. I actually cried on my way back but I felt like once you graduate ... they don t care about you anymore . I mentioned something I was still struggling about and I felt I was just brushed off. I m on the fence.

They terminated me after a week and refused to give me my money back, after I missed a half day class on Memorial Day, they rely on other forms of therapy elsewhere such as aa and na I found this as a horrible experience and I do not recommend going here

I can't express how disappointed I am with Jefferson Oaks. The level of care received by a person I care about was atrocious. They cared more about their billings than the health and well-being of their patients. I'm only giving one star because I have to in order to leave a review. If I had my way I'd leave negative 5 stars. Please don't make the same mistake we did. I don't know who is running that place but they need to take a good look in the mirror and determine what's more important- being unscrupulous and bleading patients dry financially or helping people. Those things aren't mutually exclusive but sadly they have only chosen the former. Stay away, far far away.
