Tammy was an amazing counselor and had our back. She cared about us. Bernard the driver was a good soul and he deserved a raise. He was a friend. The food was decent. A few of the RAs were cool. James did the best he could. They had a chessboard the beds wernt too bad and we d drive 30-40 minutes to Malibu to go in the beach every other morning. Some of us suffered worse than others- some stories are best left untold ..but the strong ones stuck together. We formed ourselves into a tight group.Sometimes we d watch the rabbits in the backyard.Sometimes we d wake in the night to the sounds of the others who couldn t sleep through it.As far as everything else. All u gotta do is talk to anyone who s ever been here to tell the tale. When I left in worse shape then when I came in i had a seizure at Burbank airport right before boarding to SFO as a result of reluctantly taking medical advice given to me. Should have listened to my gut.I survived. A stranger on the plane helped me breathe through it, and I didn t bite my tongue or hit my head. I can t remember the guys name.I was lucky. And when I called back they turned their back. No refunds. Gaslit, blocked, You re on ur own. But I made it home alive. And battled the taper off what I was given for weeks with instinct and proper medical adviceWe , the Survivors stick together afterwards. All u gotta do is Google the doctors name. All you gotta do is pay close attention to your instinct when speaking with administrator and don t let desperation, withdrawal, or urgency blind you. Beware of 5 star reviews that all sound similar. Accepted Insurance

Inspire Malibu works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Per session payment lets you pay for each treatment at the time of service. You may also pay for a certain number of sessions up front and then pay for more if needed. This format allows you to tailor the financial investment to your specific needs and avoid having a large lump sum payment due at the end of the treatment program.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
When an individual is in denial about their substance use disorder, their loved ones may organize a drug intervention in California. This effort involves gently but assertively confronting the individual about their substance use and sharing how it has affected those who care about them. A professional interventionist may also attend this gathering. Their expertise with intervention services can prove helpful in guiding the conversation to a positive result.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

The goal of couples therapy in California is to strengthen the couple's relationship. The therapist may take one or more approaches to counseling which may include the Gottman method, emotionally focused therapy, behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic couple's therapy.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

While in rehab treatment, you may work on developing various life skills to help you in long term recovery. These may include resilience, interpersonal skills, and self awareness. The focus will be on developing healthy habits for self care and relationships so you have the skills you need to manage day to day life.

The goal of nicotine replacement therapy in California is to mitigate the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. It cuts down on your cravings by supplying a small dose of nicotine without exposing your body to the toxins of cigarette smoke.

Went through the whole process, (Sam pumping up the program, the intake meeting, wired the upfront required $8000 prior to arrival) and was on my hour and a half drive there for our 2-3 pm arrival with all of the belongings they told us to bring. At 2:15 (10 minutes away) Sam called to tell me they gave our spot to another person. Apparently they found someone whose insurance benefits paid more than our (though I paid everything they asked for, by wire). Doesn't matter. Sam went from this sugary, gushy solicitous person when courting me, to a contentious, arrogant ogre when I questioned being told I'd have to wait until their next discharge (again after all of the preparation and hour -1/2 drive... being 10 minutes away). This is more dangerous than if they had just told me they didn't have space to begin with because the preparation process and the let down made for a more emotional state. All of that time could have been spent preparing for another facility with a higher ethical standard. Still haven't received my upfront $8000. Be careful of any facility that requires payment upfront - this was the max out of pocket deductible for my insurance so I have no idea how much they were going to bill them.UPDATE: Reading their reply to my review only supports the conclusions that their treatment of us is part of an underlying principle: serving self at the expense of someone else. Now they are accusing us of "verbal abuse?" Huh? Sam, when he called us to cancel on us while we were literally 10 minutes from our SCHEDULED arrival time (a time HE set for us to arrive that day), knew he would be taking us by surprise and that we would be shocked and have questions and it was he who was ready to snap back at us. His previous solicitous tone became immediately defensive and hostile. It's appalling that they are painting the victims of their poor ethics choices, as the aggressors. Also, implying that their decision to give our bed to someone else is because they don't take reservations and are a "first-come-first-serve" basis is also another deception. They are not a "walk-in" facility. Their procedure (and you can check this out for yourself) is to call, Sam sets up an over-the-phone intake meeting to assess compatibility and then sets an admission time. That is the process. The deposit was not returned same day, but I do not hold that against them - apparently their financial administrator did not know how to send the wire back. My financial advisor called her the following week and walked her through the appropriate steps. Their response does not give me pause to change anything about the rating I gave them.

Dear Barbara, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced during your interactions with our facility and for falling short of the level of service we aim to provide. We understand that you are the mother of a prospective patient and that your communication with us was primarily through phone conversations and texts. We are truly sorry to hear that these interactions were not as positive as we strive for. We believe that effective communication is essential in providing the best care possible, and we apologize if we did not meet your expectations in this regard. However, we would also like to address the matter of the verbal abuse and negative language that was used during your communication with our staff. We believe in treating everyone with respect and dignity, and we expect the same in return. While we understand that emotions can run high during stressful situations, it is important to maintain a level of professionalism and courtesy in all interactions. We kindly request that you refrain from using any abusive or negative language when communicating with our staff. In addition, we would like to address the matter of bed availability and assignment. As a busy facility, we operate on a first come, first served basis when it comes to assigning beds. While we understand the importance of securing a bed for your loved one, it is not always possible for us to hold beds in advance due to the high demand for our services. We apologize if this caused any frustration or confusion during our interactions. To make amends and ensure the comfort and satisfaction of your loved one, we made arrangements to offer a private room when one became available two days later. We understand the importance of privacy and a comfortable environment, and we wanted to provide this without any extra charge. Furthermore, we expedited the process of refunding your money by wire transferring it back to your account same day admission was canceled. We notified you by email, text and phone. You received funds as soon as the bank could process the transaction, two business days later. We understand the importance of a timely reimbursement and wanted to ensure that your funds were returned to you as quickly as possible. We appreciate your understanding and feedback, and we will take this opportunity to discuss your review and communication with our team. It is through feedback like yours that we can learn and improve our services for the future. We sincerely hope that your loved one receives the care they need. If there is anything else we can do to address your concerns or provide further assistance, please feel free to reach out to us directly. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

I write this not as a patient myself, but a loved one of a potential patient. I would give this place zero stars if I could based on the unbelievably disgusting attitudes of the staff. They showed absolutely no empathy for people in distress and often inflicted further pain with callousness, name calling, and completely unprofessional behavior. I would not trust my loved ones to go to a facility where the staff reacts so viciously. It s your job to interact with people in the throes of addiction, and Sam proved he did not deserve this job. Name calling is unacceptable in any business, but especially a business like this. There is no care or concern, only scrutiny and cruelty. Any questions (such as if insurance is accepted) are treated as not taking it seriously enough / wasting their time. These questions were asked because conflicting information was received, and people need to know if they can afford the treatment they re about to receive. Sam even said that he lost money when we opted not to attend here. The money should not be the important thing when someone is asking for help, and you should not be abruptly hanging up on these people in their moments of vulnerability! I couldn t believe how quickly he went from encouraging growth to cursing us out. It seriously calls into question what is happening inside when they re so outwardly awful. Addicts deserve compassion and understanding and they offered none. Way to take advance of someone in crisis. If you are looking for a safe, caring place for your loved one, this is not it. There are other facilities in the area where the staff actually care about setting up addicts for a sober, healthy and happy life save your time and mental health and write this place off altogether.

Dear Emma, Thank you for your response. We apologize for any confusion regarding your interaction with our facility. As you mentioned, we have no record of any communications with you or do we know who was potential loved one. We regret any misunderstanding and would like to clarify that our response was based solely on the information provided in your review. While we appreciate your perspective, it is important for us to address the concerns raised in your review. We take feedback seriously and strive to ensure the highest level of care for all individuals who seek our services. If there has been a misunderstanding or if you have any further details to share regarding this case, we kindly request that you reach out to us directly with more detailed information. We are committed to resolving any issues and addressing any concerns you may have. Once again, we apologize for any confusion and appreciate your information. We value the opportunity to address your concerns directly and ensure that we continues to provide more training to our employees and compassionate quality care to those in need. Best regards, Inspire Malibu Team

Inspire was a life-saving experience for me. The staff is incredible, genuinely caring, and Dr. Lugo, my therapist, is a true miracle worker who saw through me and helped me confront my issues. Anastasia , though initially intimidating, is actually the kindest person, and Suzanne ensured I had proper aftercare. The fact that it's a family-owned facility is amazing, as the entire family goes above and beyond to support you during your darkest times. I'm immensely thankful for the 90 days I spent at Inspire..

Such a great place for recovery . As someone who had worked in the field for many years, and having experience of working at Inspire. I have worked in different types of recovery settings, and Inspire has the most up to date, science and evidence based practices, which is very important for individuals to thrive in recovery. Nothing but good things to say .
