Accepted Insurance

High Plains Mental Health Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.

Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I became an established patient with HPMHC in 2019 after going through a mental health crisis. I have nothing but great things to say about them. The front desk employees and billing department were always so kind and helpful. Most importantly, I had an incredible therapist and Doctor. Tara, my therapist was always so empathetic and is such a wonderful listener. She always gave the best advice and always validated my concerns and feelings. Dr. Karen was an incredible Doctor. She listened to my concerns and was able to find the perfect plan for me and my mental health. She always made me feel safe to express any concerns and questions I had regarding my plan/treatment. She is incredibly kind. I will forever feel blessed to have had such a wonderful team that has helped me grow tremendously in so many ways, they are a big part of where I am at today. Couldn t recommend them enough!

My daughter had called twice to the so called crisis line!! Even telling the she was self harming herself and her friend had hung herself!!! Bottom line you can only be suicidal from 8am- 4:40 pm with the hope they might call you back the next day. Smh!! I hate to guess how many suicidal people have actually killed themselves with this kind of crisis line !!!

I attempted to pursue services with them last year - they cancelled on my first scheduled appointment. Just recently I decided to give them another go. My first scheduled appointment was this morning at 11:00. They called me a couple hours ago to reschedule. They are not dependable (in my experience).

When it comes to helping people with their medications, I'm afraid this place falls short!!!.Now I was taking a med where if you are instantly kicked off this medication it will cause seizures!!!.Well that is exactly what happened!!!.I feel like taking them to court!!!.Just because me, or anyone asks for their medications early!! They should have said no early refills!.Not just cold Turkey Them!!! How stupid can one be!!!?.Watch out on exactly how you behave in front of these so called professional's!!!, It could cost you your own life!!!.Now if you want to see a damned good therapist you need to talk to Joseph Mindrup.

Substance abuse evaluations are overpriced. Almost 500 bucks for a meeting is ridiculous.

Well I had an appointment for therapy on the 4th, but thanks to the wonderful talent of the workers here it just got lost. Gee, thanks, it's not like I have to schedule these a month in advance or anything.

My review for Dr. Crista M. Geyer:When I began my mental health journey 2 years ago, I felt helpless, hopeless, and broken beyond repair. After nearly 2 years of underwhelming progress, I had the most profound experience with a mental health professional I will ever have.In February 2020, I arrived at Dr. Crista's office with the misconception that I had my mental health all figured out. Without telling me "you're wrong", she was able to clarify the hallmarks of my mental illnesses, identify my personal strengths, and encouraged me to believe in myself. I feel inspired and worthwhile after our sessions together. She has given me all of the tools I need to stop catastrophizing and criticizing my very human issues. Sharing and conversating with Dr. Geyer is like sharing an intimate moment with a trusted friend. Additionally, she maintains healthy boundaries which makes her treatment style incredibly effective! I appreciate her wisdom, awareness, professionalism, empathy, and personality. Whenever I thank her for her guidance, she always replies, "you put in the work, Greg!"True. However, without her guidance, I might have waited a lifetime to gain the clarity I now have. I will forever be encouraged by her teachings. Thank you for giving me my life back Dr. Crista Geyer.

I was fortunate enough to have Sid help me cope through a 6 year ongoing divorce where to maintain 50/50 shared custody I have had to disprove twisted truths and preponderance of evidence my former spouse was relentless at throwing at me for custody of our children over and over and over again. Because time with my children was at stake, this therapy I engaged in was much needed for the inflicted trauma that not only I was experiencing, but having to watch my children experience our on and off contact denial at no fault of our own. Sid was very empathetic and caring.
