About Health Solutions Adult Services

Health Solutions - Adult Outpatient Services is a nonprofit in Pueblo, Colorado. They’re licensed by the state and offer substance use disorder recovery treatment and behavioral health services to adults and older adults. They also have an acute treatment unit (ATU) for behavioral health crises. The center accepts Medicare, Medicaid and other insurance. If you don’t have insurance they have a sliding fee schedule with discounted services.

The ATU isn’t a medical unit but is a small 15 bed facility that provides immediate short term help. You’ll get help figuring out what types of services you need moving forward and how to get those services in your community. The average stay is five days.

The center also offers diagnostic evaluations to determine a treatment plan. They have individual and couples therapy, along with group and family therapy. There’s also medication management if necessary. They also provide treatment for substance use issues with co-occurring mental health diagnoses. The case manager helps you identify the appropriate treatments for your unique needs.

If it’s hard for you to get to the outpatient center, they now have video visits through telehealth. You’ll need a device that can access Zoom to use this service.

I had a loved one receive services from health solutions and they are just awful. They dehumanize people and treat family like garbage. My loved one was supposed to learn coping skills, have family involvement, and more that never happened. The disconnect between what we were told would happen and what actually happened was ridiculous. Basically, they just want to collect money from insurance and do less than the bare minimum. These are the type of providers who greatly contribute to the mental health stigma in this country and keep people from getting the help they need.

Psych nurse Christine decided that I am not suicidal enough to qualify for medication. Staff shamed and mocked me for my domestic violence trauma. Staff did nothing to help alleviate my suicidal symptoms and through me back into the same situation as before. I guess some people s pain is not worth as much as others. Health solutions does not care about its patients well being

Accepted Insurance

Health Solutions Adult Services works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
12-step icon12-Step
Addiction recovery based on a 12 step program model is rooted in peer support and spiritual development. Participants regularly attend 12 step meetings, which are free, anonymous, peer-led, and available throughout the day and night in most communities. Clients' recovery is achieved progressively as they work through the 12 steps, which teach them to understand and address the root causes of their addiction, become accountable for their choices, and relinquish control over that which cannot be changed.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in Colorado is necessary when someone needs help with substance abuse but is unwilling to stop using despite multiple negative consequences. Intervention services are available to walk family and friends through a step-by-step process of planning and executing the intervention. A successful intervention requires careful planning and set-up as well as appropriate follow-up. Intervention services can be crucial to carrying out each of these steps.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Professional services are often necessary to recover from addiction. Drug rehab in Colorado provides the expert services needed to address the complex issues of addiction and help individuals start their recovery journey.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Nicotine replacement therapy treats your physical symptoms of withdrawal so you can better focus on breaking down any mental or emotional addiction you have to smoking. Options include nicotine patches, gum, and lozenges, as well as prescription inhalers and sprays.

They do not receive you in a timely manner, it is as if they do not care about you really. Mental health should be taken seriously but this facility does not do that by hiring people that are clearly not committed to their job.

Attempted to enroll me in Medicaid without even trying my insurance to see if it would cover treatment. I called my insurance and they told me Heath solutions is in network and therapy is covered after my deductible was met so the fact they are trying to sign me up for Medicaid is fraudulent and extremely fishy!I could have lost my Health savings and current insurance just because they wanted to scam me and the system!Watch out!!

The crisis center is straight garbage. All they wanna do is rush you out of there. They act like in just a couple hours everything will be fine and then throw you back into the same situation and say call your doctor in a couple days. They sat there and claimed I had a domestic violence situation and yet did nothing also asked for inpatient treatment couldn t do that for some reason claimed not sick enough I guess. I will neverGo back to the crisis center there s a few people there that are good but it was no help and there s a very rude nurse she s a larger lady I don t know her name but I got a very rude vibe from her. When I was leaving she acting like well oh as long as you stay in that situation honey there s nothing we can do and just sent me in a cab on my way back to the same situation. It s a joke they act like if you re not just gonna take some medication they can t do anything for you at all even if you say you re severely ill and need to go to impatient.

Health solutions has tremendously helped improve my life. I called them at my lowest with nothing, and since then they have helped me get insurance, mental health care, and a pcp. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Everyone goes above and beyond to help me. They pulled me up from the lowest point of my life, no judgement, just loads of support through every step. Each and every person I've met has been incredible. I also love that my therapist, psychiatrist, doctor, etc, are all well acquainted and constantly updating each other on my treatment plans. Everyone's on the same page. It really feels like I have a whole team of people dedicated to just getting me to my best possible self. I'm deeply grateful to everyone at Health Solutions. You guys are amazing, and you really are making a huge difference.
