About Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation

Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation is a drug and alcohol rehab facility located in Naples, Florida. They treat people with substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder. They offer inpatient and outpatient treatment services and they can treat people who have both a mental health condition and addiction issues at the same time. They accept most major forms of insurance as well as self pay. They do not accept Medicare or Medicaid.

Established in 1982, Betty Ford is one of the largest and best known rehab facilities in the United States. Although 12 step programs are an important part of the treatment you will get here they are not directly affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous.

The residential treatment program in Naples does not include detox services so you will want to have any substances out of your system by the time you arrive. If outpatient care is more appropriate to your needs they offer an intensive outpatient program (IOP) where you come in several times a week for treatment and go home at night. If you’re in the IOP you can also live on site in their modern condos.

Betty Ford has always taken a holistic approach to recovery. The staff includes a team of psychiatrists and psychologists. It also employs nutritionists and health and wellness experts. You will be treated with both group and individual therapy.

They use many different methods of therapy to treat patients. Most people who suffer from addiction issues are treated with some form of behavioral therapy. However, they also use experimental therapy and recreational therapy such as art therapy and role playing.

Outpatient addiction rehab programs at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation operate under the same evidence-based, Twelve Step principles and practices as our inpatient treatment programs. That means your comprehensive care includes: Psychological, social, and alcohol and other drug assessments An individualized treatment plan Continuing care recommendations
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient addiction treatment comes in slightly different structures and intensities across the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, but an abstinence-based, Twelve Step approach utilizing evidence-based practices is core to all programs. Outpatient treatment varies slightly in frequency and intensity across the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
With flexible daytime or evening scheduling, their Intensive Outpatient Programs usually meet four times a week for three-hour sessions, but decreases in frequency as clinical milestones are met. With intensive outpatient drug and alcohol rehab, have the support of their counselor and treatment peers as you navigate the everyday challenges of early recovery.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
If a person with a substance use disorder continually denies their problem or refuses to get treatment, a drug intervention in Florida may be necessary. Intervention services can help mediate the intervention by providing an addiction expert. This professional can de-escalate situations and facilitate a healthier discussion between the individual and their loved ones. Specialists can also help families handle issues they don't know how to navigate on their own.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Families need help in their own right. Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation’s educational and support programs help family members learn about the disease of addiction and how you've all been affected. With care and support, familes can work through the chaos they've experienced, understand how to set healthy boundaries, and begin to rebuild a trusting relationship with your loved one.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Hazelton Betty Ford Foundation in Naples, Florida was a good place for me to re-engage in sobriety. Counseling Staff was very good. I was on day treatment and had the freedom to leave the facility after 3 pm during weekdays and 9:30 am on weekends. This schedule allowed me to regain balance in my life. The biggest issue I had with HBFF was the nursing staff. Most of the Nursing staff were lazy and seemed nonchalant when dealing with my prescription refills. I eventually was able to go pickup my own meds after being placed on day treatment. The maintenace guy, Travis, was outstanding. He was a very nice and courtesy southern gentleman.I would recommend HBFF to anyone who needs help.

If you re reading this as a potential client or family member of a client, know that you are making the right choice going to Hazelden. I firmly believe there is no better treatment center in the U.S. if you are willing to be open and honest with yourself and put in the work. Every member of the staff is caring, knowledgeable and there to support your recovery - from the counselors and techs, to the clinical team and even housekeeping and maintenance. There were many treatment centers closer to me in PA, but every professional we spoke to recommended Hazelden. I m so incredibly glad as I head home today to have been fortunate enough to have the experience I did. Be cautious when reading other reviews as often those most apt to provide feedback are the ones who weren t fully committed to their recovery.

Hazelden Betty Ford is not in the business of helping people, they are in the business of making money. Warning don't get a case of the common flu here or they will kick you out on the street. They should be ashamed.
