About Georgetown County Alcohol

Georgetown Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission is located in the historic city of Georgetown, South Carolina. Georgetown Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission delivers a variety of services to address the community concerns surrounding the problems associated with the misuse and abuse of alcohol and other drugs of abuse.

The MAT program provides FDA-approved medications in combination with mental health counseling. The medication minimizes withdrawal and helps manage cravings to lower the chance of relapse during evidence-based treatment.

The intensive outpatient program meets three times a week for three hours per session. General outpatient treatment can meet as little as two hours per week. Outpatient services include individual, group, and family therapy, addiction education, life-skills training, and relapse prevention. Clients also address life issues that impact addiction, including relationships, stress, coping strategies, and building a support network.

Georgetown Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission may accept multiple insurance plans, such as Cigna, Humana, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Beacon, United Healthcare, and more. Be sure to check with the insurer to verify out of network benefits and other coverage information.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Counseling (also known as Level I services) can be delivered in many ways, including group, individual, or family sessions. Level I services range from two hours one time per week to eight hours per week. Your counselor will help you develop a treatment plan that includes the number of sessions appropriate for you. Level I services focus on the difference between use, abuse and dependence, provide knowledge on the addiction process, and expose clients to a variety alcohol/drug related areas of concern(relationships, stress, coping, relapse prevention, and community support).

inpatient iconInpatient

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Group services are held three times per week, three hours per session. Their Intensive Outpatient program focuses on addiction, recovery, and relapse prevention planning. Many individuals are decreased from three sessions per week to one session per week (called Aftercare) once the intensive phase of treatment is successfully completed.

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients engaged in a rehab aftercare program are in a more advanced stage of recovery. Many have already completed inpatient detox and/or rehab and have returned to their home, workplace, and community. Rehab aftercare services are designed to support clients' recovery over the long term and typically include a broad portfolio of resources, such as peer coaching and 12 step program induction. Clients may collaborate with their case manager and care team to create their care plan.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Withdrawing from addictive substances, like alcohol, benzodiazepines (like Xanax), or opioids, occurs during the detox process. Since this process can have uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects, the mission of a medically assisted detox is to provide an expert medical team to help monitor your health around the clock. They will work to keep you as safe and comfortable as possible, administering necessary medications to alleviate any withdrawal symptoms.

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone.
