This was my second go around with this place. I have PTSD, Severe Anxiety and depression. And I have to agree the intake women are great especially the one I spoke with today but the so called Doctor idk I can t even pronounce her name is very unprofessional, disrespectful, and doesn t listen and completely disregards what your telling her. She basically told me to withdraw from my medication I m on that she won t prescribe it which I explained would cause me to go into withdraw and could hurt me she didn t care sounds like grounds of patient neglect to me. She wants to shove pills down my throat that don t know if they are gonna work and then I asked if these meds give me complications are you gonna put me out of work because dealing with those 3 things in a stressful workplace and not having the right meds isn t gonna work I ll wind up quitting my job. She proceeded to tell me NO. So you want to take me off a medication I ve been taking a long time which I was ok with trying something new but not help me if the meds don t work. So I d be stuck no help and no job! And what Psychiatrist YELLS at someone with mental issues and is there for help! This place is a damn joke and the so called Doctors need to be reevaluated!

Accepted Insurance

Cumberland County Guidance Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients who are exiting inpatient rehab, those who are experiencing crisis, and those who prefer to live at home while in treatment typically enroll in intensive inpatient programs (IOP). These programs feature frequent and robust care, generally requiring clients to participate in at least nine hours of care weekly, though many intensive outpatient rehabs offer up to 20 treatment hours per week. IOP services typically combine individual, group, and family counseling with recovery education and holistic therapies.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients in a rehab aftercare program have typically completed detox and intensive inpatient and are medically stable. These programs are designed to address addiction recovery as a life-long process. Outpatient counseling and recovery education are typically categorized as drug rehab aftercare, but many clients continue to receive support after being discharged from formal outpatient treatment. Case managers and recovery teams facilitate clients' access to peer coaching, career counseling, 12 step program induction, and related services.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in New Jersey is more than a confrontational conversation. This organized effort is specific and goal-oriented. During the intervention, family members share specific examples of how the person's addiction has impacted their lives and spell out what they will do if the individual does not get treatment. The intervention also presents a clear treatment plan, which typically involves input from intervention services.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term, intensive outpatient option designed for those with moderate to severe addictions who don't require 24-hour care. PHP treatment is often fully covered by insurance and provides structured programming (i.e. individual and group therapy). A typical partial hospitalization program can meet 3-5 days a week for a minimum of 20 hours, offering intensive treatment during the day while allowing you to return home after. PHP treatment duration can vary based on your progress but averages 90 days.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
A medical detox is the safest way to wean your body off addictive substances. When you become physically dependent on alcohol or drugs, quitting abruptly can cause a host of challenging and uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. In medically assisted detox, a team of medical professionals will be on hand to monitor any symptoms, to provide medication if possible, and to help keep you as safe and as comfortable as possible throughout this process.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Hello everyone. If you are in crisis, do NOT call them. They are very rude and unprofessional. You'll have better luck calling Walmart's customer service. They are a pathetic excuse for a mental health center.

Intake nurses extremely helpful caring professional. Nurse practitioner that they refer to as "Doctor" is extremely disrespectful uncaring and honestly I think borderlines on professional neglect. Once I brought these complaints to the guidance center attention the guidance center immediately cut off all contact with me even though they assured me that they would help me and they would get me a different health care professional.

Worst place ever. I have a service animal that obviously comes with me everywhere because I need him. I was denied services because of my service dog Tre and not having paperwork. What paperwork ? Service animals DO NOT come with paperwork I know the laws because I have to. They tried to tell me that it is the law that he has to have paperwork or I could not come there. I asked them where they got their information from and I would like to see where it states that that is the law. Obviously they could not provide it to me. Like no kidding. Meanwhile I asked if my therapist could come to the front desk because she would surely stick up for me and have my back. She is my therapist she would help me. Boy was I wrong! She said nothing and when she did speak she just stuck up for this lady. I wish I got her name but I didn't.Honestly if you guys are going to be like this about my service dog a medical necessity, I don't even want to come here. They discriminated against me and Tre, why would I even want to see someone who is arguing with me about something you are so wrong about. Service animals do not come with paperwork oeriod. And then I hear them talking about me and my boy laughing and carrying on like I'm some kind of joke to them. I'm here to get help and they act like this.... Yeah no thanks I wouldn't even send my dog to you guys. Carrying on and acting the way you did. So unprofessional on so many levels. I have contacted the DOJ. These are the worst people ever. You do not want them helping you or a loved one when they act in this manner. Talking and laughing about clients to each other. I think they are in the wrong business. Very unprofessional. Please go somewhere else. I still can't believe I was treated so poorly. Scary. I was about to trust these ppl with my life!Denied help because they discriminated against me and Tre. What a horrid experience for sure. Save your time and money and get a real therapist, someone who isn't going to belittle you!!! Someone who actually wants to help you along the way. Build you up. I barely walked in the door and this is how I was treated. Very sad.I will find somewhere else to go. Somewhere where they know the laws and have respect for their clients. Somewhere where I am valued and will be talked to with dignity and respect because what I just came from was exactly where I thought I was again walking into this office today. A horrid flashback. What a terrible traumatizing experience. Hopefully I can help one person out and convince them they are worth so much more than what these ppl will treat you like!!!!

Really helped get meds right n therapy. Had lots of problems n when everyone else kicked me out or gave up they took me as a patient. Also was in a horrible situations with lies being used against me for months, court n this the only place that got all the papers i needed n saved me from having a permanent guardianship. Also after being told for years I can t handle 99% of work/ more then few hours a week n should be on welfare rest of my life I said I was so miserable sick of being dirt poor they told me work as many hours I get like I used to n it feels good having bread something to keep me busy n not do bad n everything else got better. They treat all mental disorders and are clozapine certified low reviews AINT right sound like people who demanding everything or rude/psychotic coming from experience in health care

Monday I call and leave two messages saying I m severely depressed and want to make an appointment with a psychiatrist. No return call, Tuesday no return call. I left a message with Elizabeth the CEO. Then I get a call back from the intake person, I tell her I want to make an appointment with a psychiatrist. I tell her what insurance I have and ask her if they accept that. She tells me with the worst I hate my job attitude : just for medication. I don t know what she s talking about and I tell her that . She repeats just for medication not for therapy. I still don t know what she means. I ask her again what she means? Finally I gathered that I am covered to see a psychiatrist which is what I asked .Then she tells me there s a waiting list and she ll call me the following Monday to schedule . Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday goes by. I call back. She tells me she didn t say she would call Monday but the Monday when there s an opening. Then she tells me they have walk-in appointments every Wednesday at 8:30. If I would have known that I would have gone in the previous week instead of having to wait again until next week. I call Elizabeth the CEO again and asked her to call me back . She never does . Another facilitator calls me back. She s nice and apologetic but when I tell her what transpired and that someone should look into it I know nothing will be done and the next poor soul who calls this place will have to deal with this same person who really should be working in McDonalds and not be the conduit between desperate people like myself and the center. Instead of getting the help I could have gotten in two days I ll be going into my third week. Take this as a warning.
