I was admitted Dec. 3rd with a cebelellar stroke. I was transferred from Marian hospital in Santa Maria after receiving a TPA. Cottage did a CAT and determined the clot dissolved. The next six days I received MRI and two more CATS. The staff were exceptional from Dr 's, nurses, to support personnel. I received excellent care and hope not to return but if I do I am very confident I will receive excellent care. Thank all the staff that provided my care.

My recent visit to the Cottage emergency room was extremely disappointing. A patient in visible pain was on the ground, and the check-in nurse yelled at him to get up until someone intervened. Meanwhile, my wife, experiencing an allergic reaction, waited over an hour without care and eventually left to handle it herself. Adding to the stress, security guards knocked on car windows within minutes of parking, despite posted drop-off allowances; While leaving alone unattended vehicles in these spaces. The overall environment felt chaotic and disorganized, lacked compassion and I hope this feedback encourages improvements.

Accepted Insurance

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

I had knee replacement surgery on August 27, ended up staying in the hospital for a few days. I was well taken care of, nurse Tom ( from Bulgaria) was wonderful and caring. Nurse Karin ( from the Netherlands) was another favorite. I did not eat much but liked the fact that anything can be ordered all day long. The room was comfortable, plenty of space for the family to visit. Thank you very much, Clara

TERRIBLE experience as a visitor. I have been visiting this hospital from 9/22/24 to 9/25/24 and today, 9/25/24, I was racially profiled by one of the psychiatric nurses (Kim K/B at 5 Bath) . Before allowing me into the unit, I was pulled aside with my partner and I, the only black visitor, was accused of purposefully sneaking in "contraband" the day before, 9/24, to the patient. She even pointed out that I said I brought in nothing but the charger was brought in, implying that I lied and purposefully snuck it in. The contraband being a laptop charger. Why would I want the patient that I had been visiting everyday to kill herself? I also had no knowledge of what or what isn't allowed in the units because I've never been told and there isn't a list anywhere... so to accuse me of "sneaking in" and lying about something that I didn't even know I should sneak in was just absurd. This "contraband", I brought it on the first day I visited the patient, 9/22/24, with clothes and wasn't even in a bag; it was openly in my arms and no nurse checked me. The patient I was visiting had the charger cord with them for 9/22-9/25 and had even changed rooms; this was a complete irresponsibility and negligence of the nurses to have not seen a large charger cord ONCE while in the room or moving her belongings. The patient also uses the laptop for hours everyday, how would the battery life sustain itself over the course of DAYS? The irresponsibility of the nurses is even more apparent that they chose a black visitor to scapegoat instead of doing their jobs. I even explained to the RN, Kim K/B that what she was accusing me of wasn't true, I brought the laptop and charger on 9/22/24, not yesterday, and I didn't "sneak" anything in, I brought it in my hands without a bag. Kim K/B ignored what I said and took my purse, still sticking to the accusation. I didn't want to waste the hour of visitor time I get with the patient, so my partner and I told the nurses of the racial profiling and instead of apologizing, Kim escalated and continued to be condescending and minimize her behavior. Saying "I'm sorry IF you FELT like I did that..." and tried to say it was because I had a purse, not because I was black. My partner pointed out that they easily could've snuck it in their huge coat or pockets and she didn't accuse them at all, only me. She had no response to that, just continued to repeat basically I was guilty for being Black with a purse. I filed a report on her after. Later the same day, my partner and I brought food for the patient and another patient after visiting hours. The nurses denied and lied saying that I can't drop anything off after visiting hours (I HAVE dropped off things after visiting hours before). While my partner went to talk to a manager, I called the psychiatric ward. I called and the nurse (at 6:28pm, Nurse Alexa) was friendly, I told her I was dropping food off and she was very receptive to this. Once she asked me who it was for, she immediately said No. I asked her why and she kept changing the reason. "There's a problem with the unit. You have to ask the charge nurse." And I continued to ask what problem was going on because I was fearing the safety of the patient and why couldn't the food be left there until the patient is ready? She rudely interrupted me saying, "No. Thank you, Bye." It is actually disgusting that the psychiatric nurses would treat a visitor this way, that it genuinely made me fear the safety of the patient I was visiting and other patients that cannot advocate for themselves. It is rephrensible that these nurses would take out their anger from me onto the patient, when she is in need of care and support. They also did this knowing that the patient was going to be receiving food soon and they had no devices at the time to contact me or advocate for themselves to receive their food. Taking advantage of mentally ill people who can't even leave a building is disgusting.
