About Comprehensive Wellness Centers | Mental Health & Substance Abuse Rehab Center

Comprehensive Wellness Centers is a dual diagnosis treatment facility in Lantana, Florida. Their approach to treatment focuses on treating both the addiction and the causes of it. The goals they want clients to achieve for long term recovery are developing support systems, life and coping skills and health nutrition. Patients also learn how to deal with their triggers. The levels of care at this facility include residential treatment, medication assisted treatment (MAT) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). The facility also has a partial hospitalization program (PHP) available as well. They treat clients for a wide array of substances including alcohol, benzodiazepine and heroin.

A unique thing about this facility is they have multiple specialized programs for helping those struggling with addiction. The academic and vocational programs transition clients back into higher education and help them attain employment. Their academic case management services focus on arranging GED prep work and assistance in college enrollment. The vocational case management services focus on topics such as resume building and employment placement services.

Comprehensive Wellness Centers believes that it’s often the case that addressing a client’s trauma can increase the chances of sustained recovery. Therapeutic approaches that therapists may use on clients to address trauma include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. DBT teaches clients distress tolerance and coping skills to deal with their emotional dysregulation, and EMDR is designed to help clients cope with the experience of negative events in the past.

When clients complete recovery, the alumni program is available for ongoing support. It offers a 24 hour help hotline, an online support group through Facebook and alumni support meetings.

If you want to have exceptional care please come here. My husband was sent here and said nothing but grate things about the facility over all with it being an incredible place, clean and nice people. Yes you got to have accountability and be ready for the change but if you re willing to do the work then you will do amazing. All the techs are very helpful and always helped him with any problems that were raised specifically ej. Ej always has the brightest personality and he cares to help others. Mike is a guy there everyone loves and is very helpful also has a great personality but since I was not there in person most importantly they started this new virtual program where my husband is able to have care as he leaves the facility to still have group. I even listen in some time and the topics are always on point and jennifer has been there at the drop of a dime to talk my husband off a ledge her advice is very warm and comforting you can tell she s the perfect person for her job. Over all great people grate facility perfect experience thanks for helping my husband you guys I will always promote this treatment center.

"Disappointing Experience Priorities Seem Misplaced"I had a very negative experience with Comprehensive Wellness Center, particularly with the way some staff members handle client care. The head tech, Heather, seemed more concerned about rules and money than the well-being of clients. It was really disheartening to see that when a client, who had just started a new job, was in need of support, they were denied an Aldi gift card for groceries. Despite the fact that they were doing everything they could to get back on their feet, this basic support was withheld, leaving them in a tough spot. While the center does have a few good facilitators, the lack of empathy in certain situations is really concerning. Clients need support, especially when they re making progress, not additional stress from staff who seem indifferent to their well-being. I hope the center can reevaluate how they approach client care and prioritize those in need over rigid policies. And the pictures are fake. The property is little Guatamala. (Crack den)

Accepted Insurance

Comprehensive Wellness Centers | Mental Health & Substance Abuse Rehab Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Often referred to as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers an intensive treatment option that allows individuals to return home at night. PHP treatment typically requires a minimum of 20 hours a week for an average of 90 days. Participants attend daily therapeutic sessions, receive medication management, and have access to skilled medical professionals. While costs can vary, most insurance will fully or partially cover a partial hospitalization program.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Florida is an essential part of treatment, particularly with medical detox. Withdrawal symptoms can be severe, and supervised detox provides around the clock access to medical professionals who can adminsiter proper medications and treatment to address these symptoms and step in should an emergency occur. This intensive clinical care will help curb the withdrawal effects, minimize substance dependence, and prepare you for the next step of treatment.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Equine therapy, aka equine-assisted therapy (EAT), is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions and activities with horses. It does not necessarily involve riding horses, but all activities related to horses, such as feeding, grooming, haltering and leading them. A mental health professional frequently oversees the activities (often in conjunction with a horse professional), and helps patients process their thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns during and/or after the interaction.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy helps you work through the psychological impact that traumatic events have had on your life. Your therapist helps you identify the physical, emotional, and mental triggers and develop coping mechanisms. This helps rebuild a sense of safety and trust in yourself and others.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

One benefit of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) in Florida is variety. NRT comes in multiple forms that you can use in different ways. This allows you to choose the form that works best with your needs and lifestyle. Your options include gum, patches, inhalers, and prescription medication.

Jennifer is an awesome Alumni cooridnator. There s not many people I would vouche for but she s one of the best representatives of this place. She s attentive to people s needs when they transition and that s very very important when leaving and getting to another environment. As for the facilitators Paul is amazing probably one of the best I ve ever seen in my life in person and on tv you can t put a price on the capacity he has on individuals lives who walk through that door. Gary K is a great recovery specialist too as he has the most and precise knowledge of the history of AA which got me motivated to even want to work the steps. Tara is awesome and she s always there to speak to people and she s very real makes you feel like you re a regular person and not a client. Sheri went to back for me when I needed to although we are one and the same we bump heads but it s only out of love and her work is very impactful. I m not one to leave reviews or praise anyone unless I believe it to be true but this is a great establishment to find discovery. Healing is right around the corner so take the opportunity here.

I started my journey with CWC late July. The facilitators and Techs were top notch and they really care about us as individuals. Paul and Linda to be specific, they have helped bring stuff to light like nobody has before them. One of the best things about my journey with them has been my experience with VIOP. We are like 1 big family and we are here for each other, through good and bad. Jennifer is in charge of the VIOP and she started running it right when i started and she has been nothing short of a major blessing to us all. She goes the extra mile by helping us in our daily struggles and she sends our group extremely uplifting texts daily. I don t know how it was before her, but I can t imagine it without her. She s a rockstar and a warrior.

One year ago tomorrow I made the decision to go to rehab at Boca recovery center in Florida then on to Comprehensive Wellness Center in Florida. It was the 2nd best decision I have ever made. The first was giving my life to Christ. Tomorrow I prepare to leave for Florida once again, this time to feed the linemen that are working there to get the power back on for the residents there. It's amazing how God has turned my life around and is now using me for good in the same place I ran to for help when I was at my lowest. He is so amazing. I would have never made a year in recovery without him.
