About CompDrug

CompDrug is an outpatient drug and alcohol rehab located in Columbus, Ohio. They provide an intensive outpatient program, outpatient treatment, medication-assisted treatment, and mental health care for adults with substance use disorder and mental illness.

The intensive outpatient program is a trauma-informed program that consists of nine hours of group therapy per week, over three days per week. Each participant also has one hour of individual therapy per week. Treatment programming includes personality assessment, assessment of self-regulating responses to life challenges, case management, anger management, parenting skills education, strengths and skills building, and domestic violence education. When IOP participants have completed 95 hours of treatment (approximately 10 weeks), they are considered to be finished with the program.

The outpatient program helps individuals restore daily functioning within their communities. This program includes a combination of clinical intervention, family support, recreational activities, relationship building, relapse prevention training, and on-site psychiatric training.

Specialized pregnancy and parenting program paths exist. Pregnant patients get access to case management, a prenatal support group, prenatal care, and patient care through the babyā€™s second birthday.

Their workers don t show up to work on time. Ever. They are supposed to open at 6am, and because I work I am there at 5:30-5:45 am everyday, which 6-7am is supposed to be early dosing for first shift workers yet there s MULTIPLE people that don t work checking in at 6am. Which means the line is long as hell some days, and if you get called to drop you may as well plan on being late to work or leave without dosing (if you don t drop when needed they won t dose you) there have been multiple days I left without meds after dropping because I cannot risk losing my job. I arrive early enough and if I leave by 6:20 I m on time to work. If they would weed out the non working people at 6am it wouldn t take more than 20 minutes for me to drop & get through the dosing line. There s literally people sleeping at the front door by 4:30/5am. If you can sleep at the door, you don t have a job. Come back at 7am for normal check in time and get these working people in and out in a timely manner. I have wrote complaints to them directly and they started to require proof of jobs (current pay stub) and gave everyone 2 weeks to turn it in. TWO WEEKS!?!? It s 2024, almost anyone can pull up a paystub on their phone at any given moment. No reason for it to take 2 weeks. & even so, within 7 days they quit asking for them and things went back to how it was. They need to enforce their own rules!!! Someone losing their job because they re late, or because they have to miss a dose to avoid being late and end up deathly sick over it, can cause them to lose their job and very quickly spiral back into active addiction. I appreciate comp drug for their help but these things have to change to make it more efficient.

Accepted Insurance

CompDrug works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
CompDrugā€™s Outpatient Treatment program helps restore the patient with untreated mental illness and/or substance abuse to fully functioning adult status within his/her family and the community, and teaches skills to help the patient maintain the recovered level of functioning. Their program focuses on clinical intervention, family support, relationship building, work and meaningful activity, patient empowerment and self-control.
inpatient iconInpatient
Clients who have just completed detox or who are at an increased risk of relapse, such as those experiencing a life crisis, typically enroll in an inpatient rehab. There, they receive housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive individual, group, and family therapy. Clients may also participate in life skills training to support their long-term sobriety. Integrative rehab centers offer a variety of evidence-based holistic therapies, such as meditation or equine therapy.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are designed to ensure clients receive continuing care while in the maintenance phase of recovery. Some clients may be in outpatient treatment, which is generally considered to be an element of drug rehab aftercare. The specific services provided in these programs are often determined by the client's case manager and care team in consultation with the client. Common services include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Designed for individuals with moderate to severe addictions, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides a more intensive form of outpatient therapy. PHP treatment can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option after being discharged from a hospital or residential program. A partial hospitalization program typically requires a minimum of 20 hours weekly for an average of 90 days. Depending on your care plan, PHPs can include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
During initial recovery, withdrawal from alcohol, opiates, and benzodiazepines can involve high health risk. Attempting detox outside of 24-hour clinical care in Ohio is not recommended. This can be life-threatening because medical staff are not available to treat severe symptoms of withdrawal that often occur. Such symptoms can include seizures, delirium tremens, and extreme dehydration. In a clinical setting, staff are on-site to immediately care for your physical, emotional, and mental health needs.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Clinical staff is able to integrate addiction and mental health treatment to address Co-Occurring Disorders.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
postpartum-program thumbnail image
Postpartum Program
The postpartum period is a sensitive time, especially for women in addiction recovery. Rehabs with specialized programs for new mothers will offer compassionate, personalized care to meet each client's needs as they transition from pregnancy to this season of life. Care teams may include obstetricians, pediatricians, and social workers working collaboratively to give women, children, and families a healthy future.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

If you don't have insurance this place has a grant program. Besides that they're awful. They treat heroin addiction, but not fentanyl or carfentanyl. They claim to but are not willing to raise methadone levels high enough or fast enough to be helpful. I came here for help with my fentanyl addiction and just ended up addicted to fentanyl and methadone. Coming here made my life worse. I jumped through all their hoops and they refused to help me. I eventually got insurance and went to Compdrug, who actually treated me for fentanyl and now I'm off dope. They have a psych nurse on site at comp drug and claim to help with psych meds but it is a serious fight to get them to follow through with calling in medication. Every few months, prepare to spend days calling and leaving messages while going through antidepressant withdrawal.

Worst Clinic in the world they pick and choose who they re going to help I was at Comp Drug for 2 years, they re like a dinosaur and are so far behind. If you cannot drop for them, they will not dose u. I had to drop four than four times in a day, and the woman just kept dumping my urine out in the toilet instead of adding to it talking about the cup, has to read the temperature. They require more urine than a doctors office. My new Clinic has a handheld temperature reader for our urine, but not Comp Drug. They kept making me drink tons of water which made me sick and each time it wasn t enough. It took them three months to figure out that a doctor needed to sign paperwork so I could receive ride to the clinic And even after the three months they still have done nothing so I have to walk there or catch a bus and I don t even have income. There are so many handicap, older people and they can t even sign paperwork for job and family services to drive their clients there for free. And let s talk about the dosing. The methadone is so terrible you re still sick and they will try and raise you every 5 to 7 days when most clinics can raise you every 2 to 3 days there sometimes every 10 mg every day. In the beginning starting at Comp Drug, I couldn t even make myself understand. Why am I breaking my neck to go here when I m only gonna be raise 10 mg every seven days ? They ll allow you to be late one time a month and I have health problems and they re aware of it. I think I m not down a pregnant woman while they left her banging on the window for 15 minutes they come out and tell her that the machines are turned off when really they just turn it right back on she s pregnant. They will drop Your dose every three days if u miss a EKG. Then they try and tell you that all this is for Your Health When everyone knows messing with your methadone will make you so extremely sick. There s so much more messed up things that goes on at the clinic. They used to be a lot better until they have this black lady that has beautiful grey hair. Managing Comp Drug she is absolutely terrible. She Care less about the client or what they re going through based off their rule of Comp Drug there is so much more To say, but this review is long enough lol I m telling you do not go to here I don t understand how they re sued and the best part about Comp Drug is Jasmine, Emily, and TERRI!!! And a few nurses in the dosing area. Because Of these amazing women is the whole reason why I was able to maintain two years of comp drugs bull crap! I just personally want to thank them!

Compdrug Saved my life, well them and God.i was so overboard and decided enough was enough so i went to Compdrug for help and I've been clean over 3years now. As long as you are serious and commented then you can get all the help you need.its medicated help but it's help if you need and WANT it. EDIT: it s now been about 9 years of being clean and I give the credit to God, Compdrug and myself and I haven t looked back/relapsed 1 time. If it wasn t for CompDrug, I wouldn t be alive because I couldn t get in anywhere else at the time. But you have to want it and work the program to make it work! God Bless and Good luck

My wife and I have been going to comp drug for several years including my son who started 9 months after we did thankfully because we came home one day and he wasn t breathing he barely survived. Since getting off drugs I ve started a business which is doing well very well really but I m not one to brag. We have encouraged a lot of friends and other people to go to comp drug and just about everyone has and all have turned their lives around. I ve seen people have nothing including their kids and after starting comp drug they have their kids homes vehicles and a normal life. The nurses and staff have always been great never once have we had any problems with them. I truly believe if not for comp drug we would be dead.

This place saved my life in 2017. Not one person here has ever made me feel judged or less than because of my addiction. I have always felt that I matter and every one working here wants the best for me. I highly recommend to anyone who is tired of living in active addiction. Please reach out and allow them to help. Even if you re not ready to quit today, go there and see what is offered. My life started abrazo the day I walked in these doors. I ve never looked back.

I've been going to comp drug for awhile now. A lot of people complain about a lot of stuff but if you are doing what you're supposed to be doing all is well. It's s a pretty easy process. 1. See counselor 1 a month over phone 2. Pass drug screen. 3.Sew a doctor and EKG annually. THAYS JT and they let toy be. It's not that hard.

This is the place you want to go if you are SERIOUS about getting clean. If you still want to play around with drugs... they have premier, medmark, etc. for that. Compdrug will hold you 100% accountable for your actions, and that's what you need to get your life back. The medication is only 20% of the recovery. The other 80% is figuring out the "Why?". Therefore you MUST use the other resources such as counseling, mental health help, and groups if you want to change your addict mind.
