Intensive outpatient that Compass Recovery provides, was a very important part of my recovery. After rehab, I started at Compass Recovery in evenings. I found the counselors and the staff all very kind, helpful and creative, and compassionate. Compass recovery focuses on tools on how to move forward in our life without alcohol. cope and getting one ready for normal life without Alcohol. The counselors are all very Knowledgeable, and truly care about your Recovery. At the end of each of our sessions, we needed to give something we were grateful for, and we did have to state what we would do to help our sobriety, for example, journaling, reading, meditation something that we were going to do each day to help Our recovery. So with that, I am grateful for Compass recovery and all that they have taught me, and the kindness and camaraderie I found there.

I attended a detox for a relapse with alcohol who sent a referral to compass west for further treatment, namely their evening IOP. I spoke with a woman on the phone and gave all the info she needed and she set me up with a start date, perfect. When I went for the initial appt (more questions, paperwork, etc), I was informed it was an abstinent program so when I was asked when I last smoked weed I was honest earlier today I told them. I informed her I wasn t aware of the policy and that I would stop. When I went for the first appt I was the first one there a counselor greeted me quickly adding what s up with the weed? I told him about me being unaware and he seemed to accept that. The group was fine and the next day was a Halloween party where the program director introduced herself also quickly adding what s up with the puff puff? I once again explained but she kept droning on and on and I nodded and threw a few mmhm s in for good measure but really just to shut her up.The next week I met with a counselor who again, being honest, told him I did smoke on Halloween, ya know, a slip. He lectured me for a moment but that too passed with nods and mmhm s. The next day, the director called and said she was referring me to another program for my smoking.A slip and they throw me to the wind, that s a good path to recovery. Maybe if I knew of the abstinence policy this wouldn t of happened, once.

Accepted Insurance

Compass Recovery Agawam works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. The Intensive Outpatient Program gives patients the chance to participate in a structured treatment plan part-time while they transition back to home and work or other responsibilities.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Therapists in Massachusetts offer individual therapy in a confidential setting to help you explore the complex factors that have contributed to your drug addiction. Using a tailored approach, your therapist supports you and utilizes evidence based treatment modalities to help you develop healthier thought patterns and behaviors. This builds a foundation for enduring sobriety.

Group therapy is a safe space for participants to share their stories and experiences within a confidential and judgment free environment. You have the opportunity to openly discuss your difficulties and create a network of community support that can extend long after group therapy sessions end.

I called Compass Recovery because I wanted to limit my drinking. I had been using a program on my cell phone to count my drinks and receive feedback on how well I was doing. I realized when doing this my counting skill was not at 100%. Being honest with myself about that made me think I needed something more so I made a call to Compass Recovery with the intent of learning how cut back.My experience at Compass Recovery was actually life-changing! I grew up in an environment where drinking was the norm. I thought that's what everyone did. Missing time, falling, and a few other odds and ends were part of living. This program taught me that not everyone uses a substance to cope with stress, anxiety, and past traumas. Knowing that was freeing. I realized I had been living in a cycle of addiction and denial for most of my life, and that it was ok to ask for help. I now know addiction is a chronic and complex disease which is treatable. Asking for help was the first step in my journey of recovery.I am grateful to Compass Recovery - Dino and his team - for this program. It provided multiple tools and real support where I could look at me without judging myself. I learned that I am not now and can never be a social drinker. Each day at Compass we discussed different tools and how to use them. I loved the center's holistic approach to recovery which combined art and music therapy, sound baths, outdoor activities and mindfulness practices. There's a wide range of creative outlets offered. These experiences helped me not only to get back on track and tap into my creative side again but also taught me valuable life skills and coping mechanisms that I continue to draw upon today. Learning new things, having new passions and interests is important. The community at Compass Recovery was amazing. Everyone is there for the same reason. You learn from each other. You support each other through the tough times and celebrate each other's wins. It s like having a second family. The staff was welcoming, supportive, non-judgmental and authentic, which made it easy to open up and be honest about my struggles. I'm so grateful I found this program. It really helped me turn my life around. I have contentment, purpose and joy again. I am no longer on automatic pilot. I live life consciously and that is powerful. If you're struggling with addiction or just need some support, I highly recommend Compass Recovery. Don't be afraid to reach out and ask for help you deserve it and it will be the best decision you'll ever make. I am forever grateful that I did.

Attending Compass Recovery IOP was the best decision I have ever made for myself. I had previous attempts at sobriety which were unsuccessful. Compass recovery provided the education, support, compassion, love, connection, community and sometimes brutal honesty needed for success in recovery. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable. The different staff members display a perfect balance of experience, kindness, understanding & compassion combined with direct communication and honest feedback to best guide you. The group therapy provided a safe and supportive space to share personal experiences and current struggles. 2 1/2 years post graduation from Compass I am still going strong in my sobriety. I am still closely connected to the program and staff. I have been invited back to the program to speak for and share my experience with current patients and I continue to attend their monthly alumni groups where we receive continued support, reconnect with our class group members and expand our sober networks by meeting more graduates from the program each month. I would recommend Compass Recovery to anyone looking for help getting and staying sober. If you are ready and willing to put in the work, Compass will give you the tools and support needed to start your journey into recovery.

A friend recommended COMPASS, so I took a look. I was pleasantly surprised and glad I did. Compass is unlike any other recover program. The staff is highly educated and up to date on all substance abuse and treatment programs. Many of the counselors openly discuss their own addictions and recovery paths. During group meetings and one on one meetings I felt the team effort and care from everyone. Even fellow group members were very accepting and supportive. The strategies and tools I learned while at COMPASS has truly helped me focus on my sobriety and living my best life. If you or someone you know is struggling with sobriety, please contact COMPASS. You will not regret it. They are caring, trustworthy, experienced, nonjudgmental, and accommodating,
