About Community Psychiatric Clinic – Belltown

Community Psychiatric Clinic - Belltown is a community center in Seattle, Washington that helps people in the Belltown area get the services and stability they need for a healthy independent life. That includes people who have addictions to drugs or alcohol.

It’s important to note that this isn’t necessarily a treatment center. They do have group services and counseling to help you strengthen and maintain your sobriety. But they’re designed more for ongoing aftercare rather than for the early and high risk stage of your recovery. They don’t have residential treatment or intensive treatment for addiction.

The services at this community center are mostly centered around helping you find stability and support in your life and connecting you with resources you need. They have outpatient therapy along with life skills training and case management. You’ll also build a supportive peer network so you never have to walk your journey alone.

I was touched by just how much this facility is able to do to help people who are trying to get on their feet. Based on your needs they can even offer food and a place to do your laundry or your hygiene. They can be a great resource if your addiction has led to homelessness.

One star specifically for the the woman I dealt with at the front desk today. Very unprofessional, had a completely wrong county for my address and gave no explanation other than that I needed to update my address with insurance. When I processed to verify my address with insurance on the phone and that I did in fact live in King county, all she had to tell me was that she "didn't need to deal with that right now" and proceeded to shut her little window on me as if I was a threat. Great way to be treated when you're looking for mental health care!

Really like it here. Sure it s a rougher scene, and the waiting room can be iffy. But Dr Rowlett is unbelievably kind and my therapist is amazing. They work in tandem and are always looking out for my best interests. The corrected a lot of past misdiagnosis and mistreatment and I m doing better than I ever thought I could. They got me down to one pill daily and two PRN meds when I used to be on nearly a dozen. I am so thankful.

Accepted Insurance

Community Psychiatric Clinic – Belltown works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Per session payment lets you pay for each treatment at the time of service. You may also pay for a certain number of sessions up front and then pay for more if needed. This format allows you to tailor the financial investment to your specific needs and avoid having a large lump sum payment due at the end of the treatment program.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The Adult Outpatient Program (AOP) program provides insight oriented mental health services to reduce psychiatric symptomology, enhance quality of life, restore functioning, and support integration in the community.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
CPC provides a variety of specialized housing options with case management support services for individuals who do not need 24-hour supervised care, but do require more support than can be found in regular low-income housing. Accessible, affordable and safe community-based housing resources are provided according to client preference, eligibility requirements, and clinical need. CPC has over 30 housing sites located throughout King County including apartments and community housing. CPC is also able to provide a number of Shelter Plus Care and subsidized set-aside apartments and collaborates with many other housing providers to ensure access to specialized housing.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. The Substance Use Disorder Services (SUDs) program serves adults with co-occurring disorders with a variety of functioning levels due to either substance use disorders or mental health concerns at several outpatient locations.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

The Community Support Services (CSS) program provides services to assist clients to live, work, learn, and participate fully in the community as independently as possible and to support their recovery from mental illness. The Clean Start program provides daily therapeutic groups, positive modeling, and recreational activities and promotes positive life skills such as laundry, shower facilities, one-on-one meetings, help with housing, and social ideas for integration.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

There are mixed reviews for this clinic. I understand that there is a fast turn-around for the case managers. I have went through a couple as they eventually move on to another job. It's an overwhelming underpaid position I'm sure. But the psychiatrist is the best. His name is Dr. Rowlett and he really does care. His heart radiates with love for all his clients. I always get nervous in front of a psych physician because I know that they are observing me, but I tell him my symptoms or what is bothering me the most. That is very easy for me because I love to talk I have a outgoing personality. I spent many years of my childhood battling bone cancer. I get traumatic memories frequently, but also physically, I get intense migraines that I must take mood stabilizers for (helps prevent pain). He does a great job helping me manage that. I never run out, he refills it on time. If you are having bad side effects he will not force you to continue to take something that is not good for you. He puts great consideration into the medication he prescribes, never feel like he is just "throwing" pills (since I have always needed this medication I never feel offended.) He takes his job very seriously he has one of the most important jobs there is. He has white hair and is an older gentleman so I refer to him as the wizard I mean that in a good way, my life is more enchanting and meaningful when I feel better. Straight up, managing a clients Mental Health is a very big job. I know for me that the medication is medically necessary, when my mental health is not balanced I am not a nice person to be around, stuck in bed and very cranky I get more out of life by taking my medication and I thank God for these resources. I am in fact grateful for this place, my old case manager helped me get my prescription glasses for free through the LensCrafters one sight program.
