I have been trying to get in to see someone for my mental health, but every time I call I get told they have no openings and I just have to keep calling. They said they can't call me if something opens up and that they have no one who can see me for an emergency. (Just because I don't want to hurt myself or others) my mental health is not a high priority right now, but I know people who is on papers and don't even want to be there where able to get in to groups and therapy and get medication with no problem.Last time I talked to them, I was told I needed to do the work myself.

Accepted Insurance

Community Fairbanks Behavioral Health Howard works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
aftercare iconAftercare
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
When families plan a drug intervention in Indiana, the goal is to create self-awareness in their loved one, so they acknowledge the need for treatment and get help. A professional interventionist can work with the individual's family members to organize this intervention and provide direction for follow-up. During the intervention, loved ones share how the individual's substance abuse has affected them, and the interventionist adds a clinical perspective on how treatment can help the situation.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
When removing addictive substances from your body under the care of licensed medical professionals, the process is called medically assisted detox. Once you've become physically dependent on substances like alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines, quitting can be uncomfortable or even dangerous. To minimize risks to your health and overall discomfort, a team of medical professionals monitors you 24/7 and provides medications if necessary (like Suboxone or methadone) to ease potential symptoms of withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

For long-term recovery from drug addiction, drug rehab in Indiana is often key. This treatment gives individuals who are struggling with a substance use disorder the tools to manage their disorder and achieve long-term sobriety.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Individual dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) takes place in weekly, 60 minute sessions. You'll have homework to do, such as keeping a diary to track your emotions and actions. You'll also attend group sessions, which are intended to be skills practicing sessions. DBT in Indiana typically lasts six months to a year.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational interviewing aims to stimulate the client's personal motivation and commitment to change. Rather than receive advice and warnings from the therapist, the client is given the opportunity to share their concerns and reach their own conclusions.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

In couples therapy, you and your partner work with a psychologist to identify challenges in the relationship and what changes need to be made. You'll work on listening, communicating, and navigating those changes in healthy ways.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Feelings of withdrawal and intense cigarette cravings make quitting smoking difficult. Nicotine replacement therapy can double your chances of long term success. This therapy provides a small amount of nicotine, so you can slowly wean yourself off this addictive substance.

Dr Puri abruptly closed our case 1 hour before a med appt for our child without giving us a reason. Sarah Graber verbally abused my husband and I simply because we requested more parent involvement. After she verbally attacked us over the phone she falsified my daughter s medical chart. They closed her case saying she had successfully completed individual therapy and skills based which is not true because her therapist had just put her into a new group and had more upcoming visits scheduled with things to work on. Now my child is on medications and no doctor to ween her off. This is considered medical negligence. These people hurt children.

If you want to be involved in your children s therapy don t go here. We were told that we were not educated in what therapy was and they would not accept our input. We were told that we were to blame for the behavior our five year old daughter (former foster now under guardianship) even though she displayed the same behavior in her previous home. We were told that we were not going to be allowed to have 5-10 minutes to discuss how the session went with her therapist so unless you possess a degree in therapy don t plan on being able to have any sort of input in the treatment of your child. If you are in crisis and in need of help for your family I would suggest going elsewhere. If you want an hour in your week for you to get a break from your child while their behavior is enabled this is the place for you. Madison Cicalo and Sarah Graber could use some additional education in what a bedside manner is and how to not get manipulated by children with Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD). According to what we were told by Sarah all of her therapist were the educated ones, but the lie detector test determined that was a lie and they have no idea how to work with RAD children. If anyone of importance at Community Howard Behavioral happens to see this review I would love to tell you all about my experience.

This place DOES NOT care at all about patients. They don t listen and they just do whatever they want. I left my first appointment feeling unsure as I did not like Cynthia at all. She wrote things in my notes that I NEVER SAID. I was going to bring it up next appointment. I didn t even get the chance because she pressured me into group therapy. I had to cancel the first appointment as my son was sick and then they scheduled me another appointment on a day I was unable to attend and had already stated this. I attempted to call twice with no response so when the automated message came saying confirm I canceled and it said to call back to reschedule. So of course I thought it was canceled until I received a nasty letter from John about not showing up and they need consistent people ? How about you answer your phones and acknowledge when someone cancels or listen when they say don t schedule it on this day. I feel terrible and sick to my stomach knowing that people are forced to go here or court ordered to go here. They are not helping anyone and it s sickening. As someone who has struggled with depression and anxiety and at times severe anxiety and depression I feel horrible again for those who just want help. I cannot imagine what they go through. DO BETTER AND HAVE THE DAY YOU DESERVE !*** Update: Spoke with Sarah Graber who was very nice and apologetic. I appreciate that. So I will give a star back.

I wouldn't even give it one star. The staff is unfriendly, rude and lazy. The youth groups did nothing to help my child nor did they really talk about suicide. I am warning parents/grandparents find another place to take your child also if they have to get committed becareful they don't send your child to behavioral place in indy they did nothing but punish my child instead of supporting my child. My insurance worker filed a complaint against them. Also beware then teen girls that go in for there group sit in the waiting room using profanity out loud where other little kids hear them and staff did nothing.

They took my grandson there, and his psychiatrist only does virtual visits and now want to release him to a homeless shelter, knowing he is not ready and is not mature enough. It will be like putting a 10 yr old with a group of men. This place does not care about treating the mentally ill

Avoid Cynthia Vorhees. A therapist is supposed to help you deal with your problems, not deliberately antagonize.

As a kid I went there for therapy and they all left gosh made a kid feel like they weren t worth their time I still resent that to this day but anyway I don t remember the excuses but I been thru like 2, 3 or 4 therapists when I went there as a kid. Just imagine how I felt when none of them stayed being my therapist no offense but I don t really like them like I said I still resent them for basically abandoning me
