To anyone considering coming here for treatment - do it. The other reviews posted during COVID are not representative of how the facility is now (not to mention they have never put anyone into "quarantine," it's not even that kind of facility). It's not perfect, nothing is, but this program, the staff, and the others in program with me changed my life. But, it took time. Plus, there are tons of post program support.I still miss the connection I felt with everyone there. It will be what you make of it, so give it a shot and embrace it. It's worth it.

I was disappointed that I didn t get to finish this program but was incredibly grateful for the time I spent here. I unfortunately needed a higher level of care than PHP but the month I was at this location was spent in kind and caring arms. My team truly wanted the best for me every single minute of being there (whether my ed liked it or not) and these clinicians immediately met me where I was at. The staff were all incredible and so were the other clients. A major shoutout to the BEST dietician Sam, Paige for being on my side, and so many other lovely people that stood by me. This place is wonderful and I hope anyone looking for help comes here:)

Pretty disappointed with my experience with this facility. I tried getting in for treatment in March/April of 2021. Was told that it would be a 4-6 week wait for intake. I told them that was fine and I could wait that long. Every week I would get an update on where I was within the waitlist. And every week it would be the same. A 4-6 week wait which was chronically subject to change. But realistically would never change. I asked if I could get a better idea of when intake would be as I had to schedule things with work to take time off as I wouldn t be able to work at all.Well, now it s July, I never was put into intake even though the facility felt that partial hospitalization was necessary. I could be dead by now and it wouldn t really matter to the facility I suppose because then I d just end up in an ER and wouldn t be their problem anymore. But I basically had to self treat and gave up on getting into this facility and getting treatment.I m eating again but it s not because of this place, that s for sure.I ve been told by others with ED that getting into these types of facilities is difficult but it really shouldn t be. People should be able to access treatment and clearer communication on how long intake can actually take.

Accepted Insurance

Center for Discovery – Portland works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehabs differ from outpatient facilities in the intensity and frequency of treatment. Clients in inpatient care reside at the treatment facility for the length of the program. They engage in intensive addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Treatment programs may draw from a variety of methods, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Holistic therapies, such as yoga and message, are frequently available to clients in inpatient care.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Oregon offers a safe place for those experiencing withdrawal to recover in a medical detox program. Around-the-clock care lessens the risk of serious withdrawal symptoms and provides a more comfortable detox process. With medical staff on-site, more serious symptoms are less likely to develop and pose health threats. Medications and nutritional treatment can be provided, as well as mental health treatment to address any co-occurring disorders.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Oregon is a short term talk therapy method used to treat mental and behavioral disorders. Based on client needs, the therapist may recommend five to 20 sessions. Typically, this form of therapy requires fewer sessions than many other types of treatment.

The six main elements of dialectical behavior therapy are designed to help you develop skills for recovery. These are related to: 1. Accepting your circumstances 2. Learning new skills 3. Receiving support 4. Learning positive behavioral responses 5. Changing negative thought patterns 6. Building collaboration skills.

equine-therapy iconEquine Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Individualized therapy is personalized sessions to address your drug and alcohol addiction treatment. Your therapist seeks to understand your background and addiction triggers so they can collaborate with you to create a customized plan. In this plan, you set realistic goals, address underlying mental and emotional issues, and develop effective coping strategies.

Viewed as a method of communication rather than an intervention, motivational interviewing is an evidence based approach to rehab treatment in Oregon. The principles of this method have a common sense appeal and are readily applied to many therapeutic programs. Core strategies include acceptance, listening, and summarizing.

During trauma theory, you can explore the impact that traumatic events had on your life in a safe and supportive space. Your therapist will guide you in understanding your emotional and physical trauma responses while helping you to develop better coping skills so you can reclaim your life.

For couples in Oregon, couples therapy can provide insight into the problems in their relationship. The therapist guides the couple to a greater understanding of themselves and each other. They work individually and together to change how they interact and react to challenges in the relationship.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization And Reprocessing

During family therapy sessions, each member learns to rebuild trust and strengthen the relationships that have been negatively affected by addiction. Family therapists use guided interventions to help members improve their communication skills and interactions, as well as address underlying issues within the family. This helps to create a supportive atmosphere for everyone.

Absolutely awful, completely unprepared and unequiped to deal with mental health. I went through 4 different therapists in the span of 6 weeks because they kept firing them and quitting. Is more limiting than benifitial.

My niece was put into quarantine, where she was denied the opportunity to participate in groups via Zoom, and ignored (she had to yell to remind staff to give her her medication) for days. Effectively, she was placed in solitary confinement for multiple days. In the processing group, when it was her turn, she tried to describe how this isolation and neglect had affected her. The counselor told her that this wasn't the right group for that. She responded "this is the processing group, and this is what I'm processing." She was then cut off by the counselor and told she was being disrespectful. She left. The counselor followed her, and continued to harangue her about being disrespectful. And, as a result of an emotionally distraught teenager being repeatedly provoked by this staff member and ordered to come into compliance in a way that is not possible when one is emotionally distraught, she was kicked out.Clearly there are systemic issues with the training, temperament, and competence of the staff at this facility. I would highly recommend staying away from this facility until they've taken stock of their situation and made significant efforts to get their house in order.

Today had an opportunity to visit their offices and learn more about the services offered. I have no doubt of the professionalism and commitment to their clientele.
