I cannot express enough gratitude for the care and compassion shown by the staff at the Center for Discovery in Maitland, Florida. From the very beginning, they treated my daughter as if she were their own, walking alongside her through every stage of her recovery journey. Tristin and Kathleen, in particular, went above and beyond, providing not just expert care but genuine empathy, making my daughter feel understood and supported in every step. The admissions department also deserves special recognition for their dedication in ensuring my daughter received the help she desperately needed. Their commitment didn t stop at intake they continue to check on her progress, even after treatment, showing that their care extends far beyond the walls of the facility. As an overly involved parent, I needed constant communication, and the team was always on top of it. Whether it was updates, reassurance, or addressing concerns, I always felt informed and involved in my daughter's recovery. Like any treatment facility, they aren t perfect, but the heart and commitment they have toward their clients and their families is unmatched. I knew then and I still know now that my daughter was, and is, in the hands of truly amazing individuals. If she ever needs help again, I have full confidence that she ll receive the same exceptional level of care.Thank you, Center for Discovery, for going above and beyond for my daughter and for our family.

I've been at Center for Discovery in Maitland since I left residential at Monteverde and it has been a wonderful experience overall. I've received so much support from all of the therapists, dietitians, diet techs, etc. They take time out of their day to talk to you if you're struggling and the care is really personalized, they take a lot of time getting to know you even if you aren't their primary client. The staff has gone above and beyond to give me and my peers so much support.

Center for Discovery PHP in Maitland, FL medically neglected me and traumatized me. I came to CFD after stepping down from residential at Alsana which I was clearly not ready to step down from. When I got to PHP I was barley eating and they didn t really know what to do with me. After my first week my therapist, Brittany said I had to get a tube or be discharged. I asked her how long I would need the tube for and she said forever if you need it A few weeks later I was sent in an Uber by myself 2 hours away to the emergency room at Tampa general hospital for tube insertion and medical stabilization. My therapist said that an NG tube was fine so they went ahead and put it in. After about a week in the hospital, my therapist Brittany convinced them to discharge me and told them that they would be monitoring my vitals. Against what the doctors wanted, they believed my therapist and discharged me. Only a few hours before discharge, my therapist called me and said that they can no longer take me with an NG tube and that I would need to get surgery to get a G tube in my stomach. She then offered me the option to go back to Res instead. Wanting to go home and think this over, I discharged. The next day we called Alsana to see if they could take me back and when they said no, I decided to go back in an Uber to the hospital in Tampa to get the G tube insertion surgery. This was my choice, however, they made it very clear that they wanted me to choose the G-tube and thought it was best for me. Nobody taught me how to care for the tube or how to use it, I had to learn on my own. When I got back to CFD they just had me go alone in an office to do my feedings and keep it a secret. My heart rate and weight continued to drop to the point that my heart rate was consistently in the low 40 s for almost 6 months and I was severely underweight which is dangerous. They only sent me to the hospital when it got to the 30 s. Once it was in the 30 s I went back to the hospital and then to res where the staff was astonished that my PHP had put a g tube in me and let my HR be in the 40s for so long. Both my therapist and dietician had both told me that when I come back to PHP I have to have the tube so I thought I needed it. When my res talked to my PHP they gaslit me and said that they never said that and I could come back to PHP without a tube. In res, my tube got infected and I had to get it removed. We spent all of res unlearning that I would need a tube forever and that I can t recover without one. I m still working on unlearning that to this day because they had convinced me I needed it and can t ever fully recover.

Accepted Insurance

Center for Discovery Maitland works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program

They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program

They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and dysfunctional eating patterns. Many psychologists and other mental health professionals consider eating disorders to be food addictions, meaning food is being used in an addictive way (similar to drug or alcohol addiction). Certain substance abuse treatment programs will have treatment for eating disorders as one of the services offered. An eating disorder may also present as a co-occuring disorder or dual diagnosis alongside drug and alcohol addiction.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

I cannot recommend CFD Maitland enough. If I could leave a hundred five star reviews I would. The setting is comfortable, clean, and therapeutic. But the best part is the staff. I have never received more quality, empathetic, genuine, and kind care than at CFD maitland. The staff truly cares about every individual and the therapeutic tools I have built while at CFD are invaluable. Tristin, the Program Director, did an incredible job at initiating a therapeutic connection and ensuring I felt safe and comfortable in my treatment experience at CFD. I recommend CFD Maitland to anyone who is struggling.

The team at CFD Maitland is extremely compassionate and well educated on the complexities of eating disorders. I refer clients to this facility often and have received great feedback from clients and their loved ones. Every clinician I have spoken with communicates promptly and it is very evident how much they care about every person that walks through their doors!

Took my anorexic daughter to CFD as it was touted to me as one of the best eating disorders centers in Florida. My daughter was not given any type of treatment for the 2 weeks she was there. She was only given a plate of food and watched. When she did not eat the food, they brought her an Ensure type of drink, and when she did not drink it, they did absolutely nothing else. I expected a lot more from this facility. My daughter continued to lose weight and her mental condition deteriorated even more. They then suggested we should upgrade her to their residential program, which we did. Once we got to the program they kept her for only 3 hours and sent her with all her belongings to the emergency room. At the hospital, doctors there told us our daughter was not the first patient that CFD took, that they should not have. We ended up paying the totality of our deductible and they charged the insurance company so far $23,270 for doing absolutely nothing!! My daughter's physical and mental condition got progressively worse at the Center for Discovery PHP program and later at their residential program. We regret having taken our daughter there, and absolutely do not recommend it.

Y'all should check your height measurement. I was measured being 6'2 1/2 but I'm actually 6'4". I brought up the possibility of the height ruler being placed on the wall incorrectly and y'all completely brushed me off. It's incorrect as hell and I'd bet my life on it. Please have somebody actually double check the height ruler on y'all's wall because it genuinely is incorrect. I felt like y'all were lying to me and I wouldn't want anybody else to feel that way. Thanks for helping me not starve myself anymore though.
