Your only options were to either take the medication or be admitted to the hospital. No one was there to offer comfort or let you explain what s happening. As a parent to a 3-year-old, admission wasn t an option for me, so I opted for the medication, which I had to pick up myself, because I have insurance When I arrived at the pharmacy, they informed me that the doctor hadn t included the necessary DEA or NPI numbers, so they couldn t fill the prescription. I called NPC hospital, and they said they were going to send the information to the pharmacy, but it closed at 6 p.m. I asked if they could change it to a 24-hour CVS, but they said they couldn t, as the doctor had already left for the day. They suggested I ask CVS to make the switch. I did as they advised, only to be told that NPC hospital still hadn t sent over the needed details. When I called NPC again, they told me if I couldn t wait until morning, I d have to return and go through the entire intake process again, even though I had been there from 6 a.m. until noon. They expected me to restart everything! It felt like my only options were to go through that again or stay awake for 96 hours because I d already been up due to stress and anxiety this past week

Location

Accepted Insurance

Ben Taub Hospital Behavioral Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Bad bad place they didn't help my child and instead neglected her she had to go to the naughty chair and since they didn't feed her she started to eat the chair. This caused her to have constipation and then they left her at the bus stop . It has been a week since I picked her up from the bus stop and she is still constipated. I am very worried for her now. never come here ppl. The only person that can save my daughter now is Jesus amen!amen!amen!

Dr. Nyid is the most unprofessional insensitive psychiatrist I've ever had the displeasure of hearing about from my family member who was going through a crisis and being threatened to have her admitted to a hospital. What kind of a "psychiatrist" makes threats to someone who is having such a tough time with their mental health. This will be escalated to the highest level It can be taken to. Nobody should have to have the displeasure of dealing with this atrocious sorry excuse for a human when their lives are in duress ever again.

This place is stupid how y all finna treat suicidal patients by making them wait hours and hours through each process doing nothing in a room at all whatsoever with one small tv with in only Spanish and like 50 ads every 10 minutes. Then y all wanna say no phone the whole time, that is so stupid you deadass just sit there looking at the wall for hours and hours you re always gonna be waiting hours for something. If you guys care about stopping people from killing themselves make it so they aren t bored out their minds, the whole time I was there, when I arrived until I got discharged I was always waiting hours and hours. actually a lot of them are pretty nice but it s just the system like it is so bad y all can t put English tv or even cartoons on?

Response from the owner1 year ago
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We apologize for the long wait times you experienced, as well as the lack of sufficient tv options. We take seriously our mission of helping to provide mental health services for those in our community. We strive to reduce the wait times and provide a more comfortable environment for those that come through our facility. We appreciate your feedback about the tv options and will look into potential solutions. Thank you for your time.
