About Baystate Franklin Medical Center

Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, Massachusetts is a full service hospital that offers drug and alcohol rehab services to adult women who are pregnant. They provide a team of medically trained professionals to help women who are experiencing a substance use disorder. Their program is called the Moms Do Care Empowerment program.

If you are an expectant mother, the Moms Do Care program can help you have a smoother pregnancy and delivery experience. Your baby will also have a better chance of being healthy. You’ll work with a coordinator and a trained nurse. You’ll also work with a doula and recovery coach.

The program is not only open to women who are currently pregnant. They also serve women who have recently given birth or who have children who are up to 36 months old. They will provide you with education about drugs and alcohol and their effects on your body. They’ll give you information about nutrition and exercise during your pregnancy.

What I love about this place is all the different people who are there to help you. A peer support counselor will provide emotional support and advocate for you with government and law enforcement agencies. A doula will guide and support you through pregnancy and birth. The medical staff can provide you with safe medically assisted treatment if you need help detoxing and staying off of drugs.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don't require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for ~ 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals. Clients attend PHP three to five days a week. Most insurance plans cover PHP.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nutrition Therapy

There is a strong link between nutrition and addiction. That's why drug rehab in Massachusetts includes nutrition therapy to teach you healthy eating habits that support addiction recovery. You'll learn what foods your body needs for healing and long term health.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Went to the ER at 6pm waited 1.5 hrs before i was taken in. Was diagnosed with cellulitis had xrays done anibiotics given before going to a room at 1am. Now the nurses and aides in spoke 5 were excellant. They were very attentive polite and helpful during my stay. If i ever have to stay again will ask for spoke 5.

Most but not all of my experience there over the last 30 years, has been with the ER staff. The nurses and doctors are incredibly responsive and professional. I am always stunned at how great they are. I realize at various times they have been working under very trying environments professionally. And they are always dealing with people at their worst. But they are just so spectacular. If I were thinking of moving somewhere, I would look for a place with a facility this excellent. Franklin county and Greenfield in particular are so blessed to have the staff Baystate Franklin taking care of them!

Absolutely disgusted with the service in the lab. Not personable what so ever. The receptionist seemed like he could barely talk and offered little to no assistance. Had me stand at the desk in silence for almost 20 mins before offering me a seat.

I left in as much pain as I went in with. With no answers, CT scan and an ekg with no answers... Went to my primary care and was told exactly what I went there for. My pcp could not understand how the CT scan missed the problem. I won't be back.

Very nice, friendly, clean, small hospital. The staff were great. We were in the waiting room not even 5 minutes before we were put in a room. We were in that room for about an hour as we met the different members of team and they explained everything to us. My son is autistic and went in for dental work. One of the nurses also has an autistic child and she really went above and beyond and was very knowledgeable. She talked to us about her experiences and gave us different resources and the order to apply for them so he can get into all different programs including when he gets older. I had a really really nice experience here. Probably the best experience I ve ever had at any hospital.
