About Bay Area Recovery Center

Bay Area Recovery Center in Webster, Texas is an outpatient alcohol and drug rehab facility that exclusively accepts men and women who are ordered by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the federal government, or the Galveston County Probation Department to receive treatment. Full payment is provided through government funding.

Their outpatient programs include a faith based intensive outpatient program, a supportive outpatient program, and a treatment program based on 12 Step philosophy. Their intensive outpatient program holds group meetings in the evening from 6 pm till 9 pm Monday through Friday which makes it convenient for people who work. IOP clients must attend 3 group sessions per week and also participate in one hour of individual counseling each week for a total of 10 hours of treatment a week.

Their supportive outpatient program is shorter and provides group counseling for 3 hours each week with one additional hour of individual counseling per month and a total of 13 hours of treatment per month. All group sessions are interactive, education focused, and include 12 Step programming.

They cover topics like relapse prevention strategies, interpersonal communication, anger management, and the development of life skills such as self control, honesty, and critical thinking. The spiritual aspect of recovery is incorporated into all their programs.

As a practitioner who has worked with court ordered only addiction recovery groups, as well as mixed groups, I believe that attending a program where all participants are court ordered has certain advantages. There is less stigma among peers, and therefore greater likelihood for honesty and accountability. In addition, the counselors are more familiar with the differing legal and reporting requirements that come with serving mandated clients. This ensures that important paperwork is not overlooked or prepared incorrectly which could delay the culmination of a client’s legal responsibilities.

If you are ordered by the court to receive addiction treatment, it would be wise to consider the pros and cons of a specialized program.

Accepted Insurance

Bay Area Recovery Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy meant to be short-term and comprehensive. It was intended to help clients become more self-sufficent and move forward without the need for expensive, ongoing therapy. It includes an emotional self-help method called “rational self-counseling,” the purpose of which is to give clients all the skills needed to handle future emotional issues by themselves, or with significantly less professional help.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Accreditations

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Established in 1992 by congress, SAMHSA's mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on American's communities.

Bay area recovery center has been life changing for me. I was lost in alcohol/drug addiction for 15 years. The things i learned at BARC (when put into action) that turned my life around. It works because of the program. But also works because of the staff. Pretty sure 99.9% of the staff are also in recovery. They knew where i was when i got there. And they had something i wanted. Through their help and the program i remain in recovery and i can help others how they helped me. Much love to all the staff of BARC.

I enjoyed the groups and hearing other people experiences. I had a lot of preconceived notions about alcoholism/drug addiction, but came to have a whole new understanding. They gave suggestion on what people with long term sobriety do, and I have since followed these suggestions. Although my path to sobriety has just started, I m very appreciative of this program for introducing me to it.

I was an addict hiding from jail and rehab for 9 years. I was out of excuses to tell the court, child services, mostly my parents. I woke up one day and It s time just hit me. I don t know where it came from. It just happened. Looking back now. I realize it was my higher power sending me my first message. I knew I couldn t do it on my own so I began researching. So I started to research FL rehab centers. They were all $1000 a day for 28 days. The computer website showed beach yoga, massages, and acupuncture were what they considered treatments . Worst of all they just replaced one addictive narcotic for another. Heroin for Suboxone in my case. My addiction was so severe that I could easily go on a 28 day vacation but I wanted real help!Since FL was out of the question I thought to myself, How about TX? My best friend for over 20 years moved to Houston and we are still very very close. So I googled Inpatient Rehabs in Houston and this facility was not only the first to come up but the very first one that had all 5 . The price for this rehab center in TX was 60% less expensive then FL.So I decided that I will agree to go to rehab like my parents had begged me to for years but I will only do it if I can go to rehab in Houston. There were so many positives to the rehab in TX. On friends and family day I would still have somebody there by my side and I wouldn t feel alone since one of my closet friends was living. here. FL rehabs are 28 days long while the rehab in TX was 40 days, 10 detox, 30 days AA learning, 12 Step Work, Meetings etc. TX rehab detox you comfortably and have a nurse on site Monday thru Friday and on call every weekend. They also have a doctor they use and new patients are seen within the first 24 hours. After the doctors short detox plan then you ll be slowly taken off all addictive medications.Once your 10 day detox period is over then you start participating. I remember the first day I was handed a AA book. I had bad thoughts of AA books and meetings but Kathy was so good at selling the AA way of life. She explained a lot of people believe the word God scares addicts. When you re an addict you do, see and think pretty bad stuff. I remember thinking If God existed why would he do this to me and all other addicts Why make addicts? And finding your higher power is a hard, scary, and confusing thing but once Kathy explained your higher power doesn t have to be God it just has to be something you believe has more power then you do. A skateboard, a door handle, a fart cloud, I ve heard a lot and they all work. God works too if that s what you want. So that scary part that made me double think AA books and AA meetings made me want to ask everyone at my rehab what is there higher power and if they didn t have one I tried to help them by explaining it the way that made my mind blow and try and help them find theirs.Every week there was 3 classes a day inside the home. They were both AA and NA but we studied AA mostly. Addiction is addiction. NA has more up to date language where AA is written in more of a 1920s style speech. It is amazing how addicts of all kinds of alcohol or drugs from the 1920 s to addicts of all kinds of alcohol or drugs today in 2023 are the same. The disease is the same. I have the 12 steps work the same as they did in the 1920s as they do now. This rehab facility has changed my life forever. I have made lifelong friends. I have been out of this rehab for 4 years now. I still think about them at least once a week. I still plan to come visit, but I m still trying to get all the way back on my feet again. It s a long hike up the mountain after you fall all the way down at. But at least I m climbing and I ve no longer just laying at the bottom crying for help.If you want to find help and go to a place who truly cares about you and keeping you sober, you picked the right place!! Florida girl.
